Weekend Family Celebration
Gorgeous setting nestled among trees and rocks, a wonderful feeling of privacy with excellent access to major roads. We were attending celebration events so did not have an opportunity to cook and eat at the house, but the kitchen was nicely detailed with appliances, mugs, glasses, etc. Each of our five couples had comfortable sleeping space, although one room was bunk beds and one was a pull-out sofa -- it all worked. The only cautionary note: It is steep terrain and the decorative staircase is fun but impossible for anyone with mobility issues. Our family member who is recovering from a surgery went in and out via the decks facing the bedrooms (the most level access). When we had questions prior to the visit, the owner was very responsive. All in all, a great experience and we will hope to visit again!

Great location but Poorly maintained
Very cute property in an amazing location. However, the property is not properly equiped for the 9 people for which it advertises. This was originally a 2 bedroom property but basement was converted making it a little inconvenient. From day 1 we had issues with the water heater having to take turns showering, some in the morning, some mid day and some in the evening making it very difficutl to stick to our vacation schedule. The water heater breaker would trip and we would run out of hot water. House has an over the counter microwave over the stove that’s not bolted making it highly unstable, dishwasher is also not bolted which is very inconvenient. When used by 9 people property displays electrical issues, we lost power on the 1st floor and GCIF in the kitchen were triggered. This is not a 5 bedroom property. House has 2 good bedrooms in the main floor, one nice bedroom in the basement with a 4 x 8 bedroom with a bunk bed only acceptable for small children and the so called 5th room is a playroom which is lovely but not fitted for sleeping, sofa bed had mold due to the humidity in that floor and it has no proper coverage on windows for sleeping. On the first day we found no clean towels or gas on the BBQ, we had to wash our own towels and waited 2 days for the gas to be delivered. While the property is nicely furnished, quality of bed sheets is below expectation for the area and the propery was not as clean as others we have rented. What made all of this more disappointing was the lack of response by the owners who came out to see the property once but never returned. We ended up leaving a day early at the suggestion of the owner. What we learned from this lesson is to only rent properties managed by a proper company. When managed by the owner they are below expectations.

Dissatisfied with the rental. We thought pictures misrepresented the overall home.
Kitchen was poorly stock, dishwasher leaked and continued to fall out of it’s place. Heavy mildew odor ( dishwasher Leaking to first floor bedroom) liviving space very tight and uncomfortable

It was a nice house in a very good location!
The house was clean and had everything we needed. My only surprise was that there are actually 4 bedrooms (if it doesn't have four walls and a door I don't consider it a bedroom). I would stay there again.

Close to family friendly activities
I love to give reviews, particularly when the experience is better or equal to expectations. It's much harder to do when they are not. Our family stayed for 7 nights in this Chalet, but due to the extremely cold weather & limited heating, we could only take advantage of the upstairs. Fortunately, there was enough room for the 4 of us upstairs. In addition, I felt the floors were dusty, particularly where floors meet the base boards, in closets, & under beds. I found myself sweeping bc I couldn't get the vacuum to clean those areas very well. Having young children, the floors are extremely important me. On the flip side, the owners are very pleasant & they quickly had the malfunctioning heater vent on the 2nd floor bedroom replaced with a portable one the same day we called them. Outside of those issues, the chalet is comfortable, has wooden floors, with 4 bedrooms & 3 baths, the master is spacious with an updated bath. the kitchen is also updated & has the basic needs for cooking & dining. The fire place was a necessity to have! The location is perfect if you are looking for family friendly activities in Boone & Banner Elk areas. However, having used only half of the Chalet for an entire week & still paying full price, I'm dissappointed with our experience.
