Well located.. No hot water and lack of storage. Lady at reception demanded 20,000 COP for a broken cup. The taxi from the airport costs 15,000 COP. Given the lack of integrity of staff, I suggest you look elsewhere.

Central Historic Cartagena
Overall this colonial in the centre of historic Cartagena does the job. The breakfast is great and there is 24hr reception. The hotel could do with a deep clean and better lighting in the rooms. Room size was typical for hotels from this era. For the price in the center it is a solid option.

Loved our stay here. We were moved to their second location but it worked out fine. The breakfast was delicious and everyone was accommodating and helpful.

This property has a good location in the walled city, though the property itself is a bit disappointing. The rooms are really small and difficult to navigate the room if more than a couple of days. I traveled as a Solo and found difficult time with room, and can imagine two persons would be a relationship test. Staff are very nice and cleanliness is OK

Great location inside the old city in a historic building. Very good breakfast. The desk staff always seemed to be in a bad mood and bothered by any inquiry. that was the only shortfall of an otherwise nice place to stay.

Convenient location a plus but more minuses
This very old structure converted to a hotel is located walking distance to many old city attractions. We had to pay for our entire stay before given our room so I guess the day lady at the desk didn't feel the need to be friendly after that (not even a goodbye when we left). Our small groundfloor room had a huge window (some may think as a plus but we kept curtain closed 24hr) overlooking the patio area where free breakfast is served. Breakfast choices are minimal but we enjoyed the daily fresh fruit & banana? bread. One night there was a long heavy downpour and raindrops came falling onto our pillows - we thought it was funny but some may not. We've stayed at the Ritz & other top brand hotels but we're also tent campers. If you're a camper you'll do fine if you're a Ritz kind of person stay away.

Great Location to Walk the Old City
My wife and I had a great experience. The hotel offers a great breakfast with fresh cut fruit, traditional home-made arepas and delicious Colombian coffee. The hotel is located half a block from a supermarket if you want to keep get some quick snack or even for a cheap dinner, it is very convenient. Also, it is located walking distance from many historic places such as churches. museums, nice restaurants, plazas, pubs, etc. Everything of the old city is walking distance. The bed is very comfortable and the hotel is also very quiet so you can rest well.

Great location, basic clean rooms,
Simple, basic guesthouse in a great location in the walled city. Friendly staff speaks no English. Room was clean but uncomfortable. WiFi worked great. Shower not so good. Room very small - not even a chair to sit in. Staff was very helpful when I lost key to the safe. Hotel is OK for the price.

Character hotel in old Cartagena
We had 4 days here and really enjoyed it. The only difficulty was the lack of English but, after all, this is a Spanish-speaking country. Sign language and Google go a long way!

Messed up the reservation
We were supposed to stay at this hotel in Centro. However they messed up the reservation and did not have our 2 rooms available. So they pawned us off to a sister hotel. A sister hotel on the outskrits of Getsamani. A sister hotel with a room right on the street. A sister hotel with a 24 hour marching band. I felt like I was a character in the movie Hostel. We also lost 2 hours of our final day in CTG due to the fiasco.

Nice Hotel in colonial Cartagena
The hotel itself was beautiful,I really got the old Cartagena feel.The food was delicious.The only thing I would complain about is that some of the staff was a bit rude except the boy who took our bags to our rooms he was excellent.

Great introduction to Cartagena.
Arrived fairly late to the hotel, but was greeted by a very nice man who took the time to point out some sights of interest on a map. Then toured me through room. Nice touch was a mini fridge in the room with cold agua and cerveza which I took full advantage of. Room was comfortable and large. The breakfast that was included in the morning was a great start to the day. Little to no English spoken by the staff so it helped to know a little Spanish to get by.

Convenience within the Walled City
Our trip to Cartagena was awesome. This hotel is perfectly situated within the historic Walled City. Very convenient- everything is within a 5 minute walk. The hotel staff is wonderful. Carmen, Jorge Luis and Clara work tirelessly to make your stay memorable. The hotels in this area are pricey- so it's all relative. It is a 3star- would have loved a courtyard pool like many of the other hotels, but we didn't spend much time at the hotel during the day- so the trade off (price) was worth it. Breakfast was very good and made to order each morning. Air conditioning worked very well (important). Decor was basic but rooms were clean and pillows were comfortable. Airport is literally ten minutes away. Great time.

What a completely charming Bed & Breakfast. The staff was extremely helpful with our questions about where to eat & hailing our taxi's. The daily breakfast served was delicious & plentiful. Fresh fruit, eggs to order & great coffee. Rooms well kept. Will definitely stay here again!

Great place for a Christmas Eve away from Family
The hotel was mostly empty on Christmas Eve. The staff was friendly, if not excited, and very helpful, especially with helping me get a taxi on Christmas Day. The breakfast was quite good. The room had excellent air conditioning clean bathroom, comfortable bed (though a little short, and I'm not tall). It was quiet, which was a real plus, and since the Old City is relatively small, walking everywhere was easy. The wi-fi worked flawlessly. Nothing fancy, just a really good night.

I stayed for two nights and found the location to be fairly central, within easy walking distance of everything in the old city. I had a room on the first floor, that had double height cathedral ceilings, which was nice and roomy. Great AC, hot water, cable TV, and a refrigerator in the room. I have also stayed in resorts in Boca Grande and found this central hotel more convenient, and made for a nicer experience.

The hotel is just prefect for those interested in walking around the old city. There are many fantastic restaurants, museums and plazas nearby. The action is within walking distance. Breakfast is nice and simple, we asked for a larger room which was just fine for what we were looking for, very clean and quiet. Everyone at the hotel is helpful and friendly.

Hotel Puertos de Cartagena was one of the comfier places I've ever stayed. The bed was amazing, the room a good size and the staff was really helpful. Each morning they serve a hot breakfast and you can't beat that for the price of this hotel. Breakfast is in an outdoor area that's really nice and pleasant. The location is perfectly located in the walled city, you can step right out of the hotel and be at restaurant, bar, market, etc in 30 seconds. It was a very pleasant stay we felt very safe!

Very homey hotel
Stayed at Puertas de Cartagena for 2 nights. Its location is very practical for anyone wanting to explore the old city center of Cartagena. The breakfast that was provided was delicious and the staff was very friendly making the stay and breakfast feel very homey. The only complaint I would have about the stay is that the room I stayed in was rather small. The main problem being that there was very limited room to store clothes or put luggage away. As I was staying a short amount of time, this was not an issue, but I could see it being a problem for people staying there longer.

The hotel is very well located within the walled city. Within walking distance to any point in the walled city and surroundings. We were a family of four, including two child, and we always walked late at night to back to the hotel, very safe area. Overall, we felt safe anywhere within the walled city. Our room faced the street and at night there is a Tattobar across the street, so more than a few nights we had troubles falling sleep (music too loud, people, singing and chatting on the street). The room was OK, nothing to highlight, just two beds, one wardrobe, one mini fridge, one lamp, and a hammock. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast is provided daily, few options to chose from (fruit, and coffee/tea, and banana bread, and eggs/arepas). The service was excellent, specially Jorge Luis he seems to do everything there... We would come back and stay there.

This hotel has a great location. But the noise level in the hotel is too much to deal with on a daily basis. The breakfast was good 7 AM to 10 AM. The staff is very good but you will need to speak Spanish because they do not speak English. For the price this hotel is okay for the location only. But this hotel lacks a lot in amenities.

The staff makes this B&B experience wonderful. Fluent in English they helped me find atm's, directions to places to go, and one especially thoughtful person even loaned me their cell phone so I could make an in-country call. The breakfasts are simple and delicious! I will miss the fresh fruit and fresh juice!

Great simple, clean and quiet little Hotel!
Great hotel at a very good value in the Historic district. Good location,clean, quiet, comfortable and very secure with a friendly and helpful staff! Good breakfast with fresh juice, coffee, banana bread and choice of eggs/pancakes. We have stayed at numerous resorts in Cartagena and prefer this hotel not only for the great value but the tranquility as well. tip: If you want a nice pool and the beach scene for the day - take a taxi (approx $5.00) to the Hilton and purchase an all day day pass (approx $45.00 for 2) for the 3 swimming pools, beach, towels and use of their facilities, then return to Puertas De Cartagena for peace and quiet at a great central location!

All you need in Cartagena's historic district
Small hotel in a historic building. Staff was cordial and helpful. I liked the courtyard in the middle, where we had breakfast. The room had an extremely high ceiling, giving the sense of time and place. A hammock was available to hook up, if anyone wanted to sleep in that mode. Air conditioning worked fine, but the bathroom fan was annoyingly loud. Try the egg arepa or anis arepa for breakfast with fresh fruit and fresh fruit juice. Awesome!

No Hot Water Otherwise Fantastic Hotel
The hotel could not have a better location. It is right in the historic walled city, just a few blocks from the wall. The staff is very friendly. They make you a nice breakfast. However, the hotel did not have any hot water. This might be every hotel in the walled city. I don't know. I just know it had none. Otherwise it was a great hotel. Direct TV comfortable bed, I felt totally safe. I left my bags, including my computer with the staff on my last day and I had no problems.

I booked after reading various reviews. This is a small hotel. The pictures and description are very close to the real thing. It is built around a small court where you have breakfast in the morning. It provides a traditional, affordable stay but do not expect anything exceptional. Basic bed and bathroom in an a/c room, small but good breakfast and staff that barely speaks English. Not displeased with my stay; but pretty sure I would not return to the same next time.
