“Very enthusiastic owners and good breakfast, comfortable room. The area was too quiet and out of the way for me with limited parking in the area, but that's a personal preference.”

Only received a refund when we complained and pointed out that had I come and just bought a coffee I would have been eligible for free parking as I would have been considered to be a customer. But not considered to be a customer when staying overnight. ”

“This is a busy hotel on Sunday’s but has plenty of parking. The staff are exceptional and room 201 with a tub in the window is perfect for a romantic weekend. The hotel is a short walk from the Rock Inn and the moor. The food in the bar and main restaurant is varied and delicious with breakfast being served in the conservatory. The bus service to Widecombe in the moor is very limited and needs to be considered if you intend to visit the area. Overall a very pleasant stay. ”

“Absolutely fabulous few days away. This is a real gem of a hotel. Quiet and secluded but a real joy to experience. The staff are so helpful and genuine (Rosie, Sharon and Oliver deserve medals) There was plenty of choice for breakfast, the cooked breakfast was tasty and well presented. The evening dinner menu and quality of food was 10/10. I think it could be even better with a slightly extended menu. We will be back x”

“Classic old school hotel, presentable but decor from a different era. Very clean. Gardens are stunning. Good location for seafront - about a 5 min walk. Good facilities. Very limited food options, but that might be because we stayed in March. We were very grateful for the room upgrade that we received - they didn't have to do that. ”

“Very good evening meal, food was excellent with a reasonable choice of dishes, we had a sea view which was lovely with a little balcony. Hotel is quite tired, but comfortable and the staff are amazing and a superb location with plenty of parking which you have to pay extra for.”

“Sam ( Manager), was very welcoming ,approachable and knowledgeable about the hotel and area. The bedroom was immaculate , there were plenty of warm drink provions, soft towels and toiletries provided. Our breakfast foods were fresh& tasty- there was a variety of cereals if you wishes, cooked breakfast, warm and cold drinks. Parking is at the front of the hotel and only £6 per night. All of the staff were very friendly and we would definitely recommend staying there. The sea is accords the……

“Booked a valley castle room w king bed for one night in late Sep. Room was very clean with comfy n up to date decor. Room was big enough and soundproof quality was good. Big garden surrounded hotel n we took a pleasant walk the next day. Should have stayed for one or two nights so as to enjoy swimming pool and other facilities. The historical building was well maintained. Very pleasant stay ”
