Well what can we say that hasn’t been said before? Our room was an eighties time warp, all swags and tails, two wallpapers and wide boarder. There are no facilities at the hotel, unless you count the tea & coffee making facilities in the room! The bed was very comfortable and bedding good. Carpeting is worn with potential for danger as holes starting to appear on the stairs. Towels are mainly frayed. The potential at this hotel is enormous, the number of visitors passing its doors just to see the infamous Jimmy Perez’s cottage next door alone and asking if there is food or drink available. We understand that it is a listed building but it is in serious need of modernisation. So why did we stay at a cost of over £200 per night ? Very simply there was no where else available in Lerwick for our dates and whilst that continues the owner will no doubt continue to get away with the conditions as they are.

Where to start… Woman on check in had no idea what an Expedia pay at property reservation was. The remaining balance of the room was attempted to be taken before we even checked in. When we were eventually greeted by the very unhelpful woman, we were told that she “apparently” did not know what the reservation was. This is absolutely disgusting as clearly the staff have no clue what they’re doing. Then to dinner, a young girl has the most disgusting attitude for a waitress I have ever seen. Got my order wrong and then when bringing the correct order through, the food was slammed down on the table with a sarcastic “sorry about that”. There later was an incident where her hair was not tied up and she quite literally hair flicked a customer. Nothing wrong with the room but the staff are absolutely disgusting. Would not recommend one bit.
