Gobbler-Knob

Rustic cabin retreat bordering Roanoke and Floyd counties, near Copper Hill Virginia.
Reconnect with nature in our pet friendly rustic cabin on 35 wooded acres with two walking trails (Blue trail 3/4 mile loop and Yellow trail 1 mile loop), 5 acre meadow and large spring fed pond with bass, sunfish and trout. Enjoy walks, fishing, abundant wildlife and night star-gazing with virtually no light pollution.
Cabin features great room with fireplace and wood stove, dining room, kitchen, downstairs bathroom, and two bedrooms. Downstairs you will find a bathroom, bedroom with a queen bed.  Upstairs you’ll find one bedroom with a queen bed and loft area with a twin bunk. It will sleep six comfortably, and linens are provided. Large back deck with gas grill and rocking chairs which overlook the meadow and it’s frequent furry and feathered visitors and mirrored pond. Bring marshmallows for the fire pit near the cabin.
The cabin is at 2600 ft. elevation but still can be warmer in summer months. It cools down to the mid 60’s to low 70’s most summer nights so we don’t have AC there. We do have WiFi.
Just five miles off the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway and in the heart of the Blue Ridge Wine Region. We’re mid-way to the town of Floyd from Roanoke, and an easy 40 miles to Tech.
Historically the “Eggleston Place, built by hand by one of the original families of the area. It was part of a large farm which was divided many years ago into 25-100 tracts. If you cherish the call of the outdoors, enjoyed in rustic comfort, you will love Gobbler Knob.

Loved it!
We were a little intimidated by the drive up in the rain, but once we got to Gobbler Knob things were great! Everything we needed was there, it was comfy and clean and when the rain cleared, the deck was fantastic. The view off the deck was the perfect way to start and end the day and it was an easy drive down to Floyd for entertainment, food and exploring. We loved listening to all the birds around the place.

Wonderful
My family recently returned from our second stay in this peaceful cabin. We made fires, cooked yummy meals and streamed the final 4 NCAA games. We also visited the town of Floyd and had lunch at the country store listening to live music. I was excited to see a bear this time, it was running away along the “front” yard when I stepped outside early one morning to take the dog out. I’ve spent a lot of time in the Appalachians and had never seen a bear before. We needed the R&R and this cabin is perfect for that. We look forward to returning.

Gobbler Knob
Gobbler Knob is a wonderful rustic cabin. We (myself, husband, and our golden doodle) enjoyed sitting out on the deck taking in the view and the quiet over breakfast or dinner. The cabin was very comfortable for relaxing and had everything that we needed to prepare meals. During our stay we did see a deer and a bear down by the pond. During the day we explored the small neighboring towns, took a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway and did some antiquing in near by Roanoke.

Amazing!
It’s tough to summarize how much I loved this property. It is pretty far out there, which is a plus in my book. The view from the deck overlooking the peaceful meadow and pond are amazing. The cabin hits the perfect balance of rustic while being super comfy & cozy. I’m picky and tend to feel uncomfortable in most vacation rentals, but felt at home here. My husband loved the property and was impressed with how well stocked the kitchen is (he is the cook and appreciates having some basic spices & condiments, etc…). My teenagers are seemingly impossible to impress and they both commented on how they enjoyed it as well. We loved that we could bring our dog, as none of us enjoy time away from her. The photos can’t properly convey the overall vibe of the cabin and property. We very much look forward to returning.

Lovely Cabin on a Beautiful, Private Property
We absolutely loved our stay at Gobbler Knob. The cabin itself was so cozy with a great porch. I love cooking and the kitchen had everything I needed. Checking in and out was seamless and easy, and the cabin guide was thorough and clear. We appreciated special touches such as coffee, snacks and helpful supplies in case you've forgotten something. We didn't forget our toothbrush/toothpaste, but the fact that extras were there certainly didn't go unnoticed. The property itself is beautiful. We enjoyed walking the trails with our two dogs. There was also plenty of space for fetch and, if you have a pup that loves dock diving, they'll enjoy the pond. Very dog friendly. There were also plenty of options for sitting and enjoying the views around the pond. Even if you don't venture into the woods, the open areas are well maintained and nice for a shorter stroll. It's the kind of place you visit and simply don't want to leave. It's so quiet and relaxing. The only noise you really encounter is wind in the trees and birds, and you can't ask for much more than that! Thank you for a fantastic stay. 10/10, we'd come again!

What a nice relaxing stay at this rustic home in the woods. We had a great Father’s Day weekend with family of 6 and four dogs. The place was clean, organized, well equipped and the property management was very helpful and timely on any questions we had. Thank you again. If we are in the area again we will absolutely return.

Perfect nature retreat
Absolutely wonderful home on the most beautiful property. Sitting on the back porch...amazing. everything you need is there. We spent a beautiful weekend there celebrating my sister's birthday. It simply could not be better. So much attention to detail. The fireplace was the best! Comfortable furniture an extremely well equipped kitchen! Little treats and cold delicious well water. Opened the windows and loved the fresh air. We believe we may want to make this an annual tradition. It is remote....but so worth it. If you are looking for some peace and relaxation in nature, book this property now.

Awesome Cabin Getaway
The directions and check in process were excellent. The cabin and property are beautiful. We had a fire in the beautiful fireplace and two of our kids slept on the floor by the fire all night. Very thoughtful and hospitable host. Kitchen was very well stocked with coffee, tea, spices, etc… Excellent cell service/Wi-Fi (Starlink, I believe). We were visiting Virginia Tech for Family Weekend and watched the football game on Saturday. Drive was a little hike and very accurately described in the listing. Thank you for a great stay!

Very Peaceful
Like another reviewer mentioned, we were pleasantly welcomed by the delightfully smoky, rustic smells of the cabin when we first arrived. We found the wood stove to be charming and very useful in taking the edge of the cool temperatures once we got the hang of it. Very much enjoyed sitting on the deck sipping hot coffee and walking about the property. Our host was very responsive to questions we had while we were there. We generally had a very relaxing stay.

Great Getaway!
We stayed here when we came for a Virginia Tech football game. It was a wonderful respite from NoVa. Den & beds are comfortable, kitchen has what you need for a simple dinner & country breakfast. But the gem for us was the porch and the field. We spent 2 nights on blankets under the open sky & were thrilled by the expansive starry heavens and spotting the shooting meteors and satellites in the night sky. We then we’re entertained the next morning by 8 deer playing in the same field while we watched from the porch while having our morning cuppa. Would we stay here again? You betcha!

Perfect
We couldn’t ask for more, the property and the cabin where outstanding. It was exactly what we were looking for, quiet and relaxing. We spent the majority of time at the pond, fishing and the kids catching salamanders. The kids also had a blast riding their bikes down the hill. The cabin was what a cabin should be. Super rustic but accommodating. When I walked in the smell of the fireplace took me back to my parents cottage in Crivitz, Wisconsin. We can’t say enough and will definitely be back.

We had a fabulous time! Lots of opportunity for hiking, watching wildlife, and checking out nearby wineries! Such a refreshing change from Cocoa! The weather was great too! Be sure to use the bug repellent during mosquito season. Roads are steep and gravel, but they are well maintained and didn’t give us too much trouble. We will probably book it again soon!!!

Wonderful cabin getaway
Our time at Gobbler Knob was full of rest and relaxation. When we first arrived, 3 deer were standing in the meadow and we could hear a turkey gobbling in the distance. There are well marked trails that take you on a little jaunt through this beautiful property. We would recommend this rental as the cabin is the perfect getaway if you are looking for quiet and solitude.

Spring Break
We took 4 days during our Hokie's spring break to enjoy family time away in the mountains. We had two days in the 60's for perfect hiking around the property's well marked trails as well as hikes at Buffalo Mountain for beautiful mountain top vistas ( 50 minute drive from cabin). Enjoyed morning coffee on deck while looking across the meadow and lovely pond. One morning we woke up to snow and single digit temps but stayed cozy in the cabin keeping the wood burning fireplace and stove going while we played games and visited. The rustic cabin had everything we needed- kitchen well equipped, Keurig coffee maker, paper products supplied and a welcome basket with treats. Jon was excellent in his communication before the trip and responded quickly to our questions via text while at the cabin. We loved our time at Gobbler's Knob and would highly recommend!
