Lovely hotel, great location, friendly service, clean, new and only thing it lacked was a spa! Would of been nice to have use of a steam room at the very least.

Location, service, comfort

From the warm welcome, to the detail for excellent service, this hotel provides comfort in the busy centraal station area of Amsterdam. The Expedia booking offered a price we could afford or this hotel would not have fit our travel budget.

Just ok. Not 5 star

Honestly not sure how this hotel is rated 5 star. On my confirmation it said shower/tub combo for superior room. I got to room and had shower only. I went to front desk and was told that if I wanted to keep my queen bed, those rooms are shower only and tubs are only in twin bed rooms. So I have to choose. I ended up moving to a twin bed room as the queen bed in the first room was rock hard and sqeeking. Could definitely not sleep on it. The linens were not premium bedding as mentioned to me. The pillows were half the size or normal pillows. A/C barely worked. I mentioned a couple things to the hotel staff with little care back...just the usual "well we have never heard that before."?? At 8pm, totally jet lagged, I asked for a couple coffee capsules. At 9pm when my room service came, I was told that they can't find the coffee as that's with housekeeping who are not on duty anymore. I then Said, you mean to tell me a 5 star hotel cannot get a guest a coffee capsule? Seriously? The girl clearly understood how her statement to me must have sounded. Then at 10:30pm a man showed up at my door miraculously with the coffee. At 7am I went to front desk to ask where I can have breakfast. I was greeted with "well your booking doesn't have breakfast included". Then twice during my breakfast by 2 different people I was advised my room doesn't include it. If you're looking for a true 5 star property this is NOT one. In future I would not use this property again due to the staff/comfort

Beautiful hotel in great location

Extremely nice hotel, however, the check in could be much improved if important information about the room and hotel in general was given to me. Be wary of the 2 level room because of a very steep staircase and extremely noisy because it faces the street bars. It was beautiful to look at but not practical for us. If you don't mind noise at night this room would be great. The hotel is immaculate with attention to detail. More info about the hotel would have been nice when we checked in too. Found out as we were leaving there was a chapel in the hotel..? I would recommend this hotel but be sure you know what room you're getting!

Weekend break

I recently stayed here with my daughter for a long weekend break. Hotel was great. Excellent location, very close to transport links by boat, train, tram and bus which take you to all the sights. Also the hotel is surrounded by sights, restaurants, cafes, shops and bars too, but not too noisey. Staff in hotel were very warm and helpful. Hotel was very modern and had lots of amenities available. Hotel room was spacious and very clean, beds were really comfortable. Bathroom a good size. Room had everything you need. Did not have breakfast as we wanted to lay in and relax but looked nice when we walked through the dining area. The only thing that I could possibly question would be the price of the breakfast. It did seem expensive for what it was but as I did not try it I can't really comment further. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would return there if I was to visit Amsterdam again. Might be a little more expensive than other hotels in Amsterdam, but well worth the extra money :)

In the centre.

Pros: Relaxing.
Cons: Nothing I could add.
Location: The Zoo was 25 minutes walk. Shops less than that. Museums about the same walking distance. The buses, trams and metro, less than five minutes!!!
Right in the centre. I like walking so for the shops, Zoo and more excellent.

Excellent hotel & great location on edge of city. Easy walk to train station & canal boat tours & naval museum. Good room size, immaculate condition, nice bathroom. Staff friendly & knowledge. Highly recommended.

Perfect location!

Absolutely perfect location. Just steps away are tour/city buses, canal tours, and so many wonderful restaurants. Great staff, wonderful room (very modern & beautiful) and great views. Will definitely stay here again!

Excellent location, cleanliness and comfort

Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing, I had a great experience and wouldn't change a thing.
Location: Perfect location from Centraal Station and within a short walking distances of most attractions.
If I visit Amsterdam, I will 100% stay at the Barbizon Palace again. It is situated only a few hundred meters from Centraal Station. There are plenty of little shops and restaurants right around the corner. Also, a quick couple meter walk gets you to piers for some cool canal cruises and easy access to trams. I rated this a 5 out of 5! Depending on which room you get, it may be a little noisy. I had a 1st floor room with my window facing everything. So at night there was some extra noise from people passing by. But I will not deduct a star from this because I feel this is just the nature of the city you are in. I know some people have been turned off by this but it caused me no sleeping issues. Customer service was excellent, staff was very friendly and all spoke perfect English. Be sure to book a room with breakfast included! Their normal price is around 29 Euros. But you can save a lot by booking on here with that included. The breakfast was very good every morning and had everything you could want. Variety of hot meats, breads, fresh fruits. And the juices were wonderful.
