Lots of issues with doors. One exterior door wouldn't open with my key card, one exterior door was permanently open - anyone could walk in. The bathroom door (on a track like a barn door) did not open and close properly and came off the track many times during our stay. The door to our room did not feel securely shut. The desk in our room was not wiped down before our stay, the whole room felt like it wasn't properly cleaned. The price was lower, so maybe I should lower my standards, but I would pay more and stay somewhere else in the future.

This is a newly renovated establishment. Very clean and the staff was great. The connecting restaurant was amazing and the food was great.

The room was spacious and not in bad shape some trim was coming off and needs reglued and the hot water didnt work in the hot tub in my room and coyldnt use it and they didnt give me any money back. Otherwice it was ok would stay again

Property was shown as a three star hotel, it is not! I give it two stars for future guests reference. It is an average to below average remodel old motel. Room smelled of body odor, and heat/ac was really noisy. I wouldn’t stay again.

Hotel is not worth the money to stay there.
Checked in and was sent to rm 150. Walk in to a rm that was never cleaned. Then was told to grab my stuff and come to the front desk. I was then given keys to rm 250. Walk in and see base falling off the wall everywhere. I found the access door to the jacuzzi was broken. Checked to make sure the tub worked and only the cold faucet worked. Then told me to sit tight for about 20-30 minutes and they’d get the first rm cleaned and ready to go. So after over an hour’s time messing with rooms, I finally settled into 150. Wife and I took a bath. The air bubbles were freezing cold air. Left super early in the morning. Was totally disappointed by this place. Will NEVER be back or recommend.

It took 3 people to check us in, we had no hot water in our room. The room had also not been heated so it was about 50 degrees upon entry. The sheets they use on the beds do not cover it fully. There was no comforter, and they were unsure if they could get us a an additional blanket ( they did). We asked to move rooms, abd the first thing we were asked was if we had disturbed the bed (because clearly they do not have adequate staff to tidy up the room) and after several difficulties and 30 minutes of that, we said we would simply return to the original room. We were reassured that if we ran the water for 3-4 minutes, we would get hot water. There was hot water in the sink, but the shower water was barely warm. Additionally, the toilets have not been properly installed as it can shift on the floor very easily. Finally, I had indicated that I would pay at property through Expedia, and before we even checked in, my credit card had been charged by the hotel. There were a number of other issues with the property and room that are less egregious, but overall this was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at.

Very disappointed in the condition of this property. I have stayed here in the past and was very surprised at the decline. There was no dining room available with coffee or tea in the morning or any breakfast.

Remodeled
The remodel and making the hotel non smoking are great improvements. The rooms are much nicer, on par with 3 star hotels. The hallways could use an upgrade, but overall, one of the nicer hotels for the price in the area.

No bang for my buck.
I was not impressed for the money I spent for three nights. Went to get a cup of coffee in the morning before breakfast and the coffee was cold. The front desk lady told me to pour another cup and it would be warmer. That wasn’t the case, it was colder than my first attempt. Then when I asked for more coffee pods for the room, it was like I was asking for something that was being rationed. Then we had an issue with the door to our room. The lady at the desk didn’t care. She even let me know when dealing with the door issue I had been to the desk to complain four times that morning, she was wrong, I’d been there only three times. When dealing with the door issue she was still consumed about me saying the coffee was cold. We did not get the bang for our buck. When checking out, we were not asked about our stay. The front desk lady was more concerned about her personal phone calls and being annoyed when we needed something. The didn’t offer a breakfast but offered a certificate for 5 dollars off breakfast at the restaurant in the same building. The front desk lady was annoyed when we asked for certificates every morning as she had to fill the certificate out. As I drove around Ankeny on a weekend, the hotel parking lots looked full, this one was the exception and was not.

Not worthy of the Wyndham Garden Branding
They have been renovating this property for over 2 years and the workmanship is shoddy and amateurish. In the hallways, the carpeting is loose everywhere and the trim at the baseboards and around door jams is partial. The work in the rooms is mismatched and non-professional. We stayed 4 nights and had to ask for new towels frequently as there was no place to hang a towel for possible double use. There computer system was not working at the front desk and so they wrote down my info and credit card number. I was called at 9:30pm at night on our 3rd night in the property and was told my card was declined. I stopped by the desk so they could check the card with what was written down and they said it was declined again. I checked my bank app on my phone and IT WAS NEVER DECLINED. It was accepted the first time they ran it. This is a no go for us ever again and I can't believe this company allows their brand to be represented in this type of facility.

This property was so nasty! I think it’s in the middle of renovation but they’re still renting the rooms. It was dirty, unfinished, bugs all over and the hallways smelled like mold/mildew.

The only good part of staying at this hotel was that rooms themselves were nice and as pictured. However, the entire hotel is under construction and the hallways to walk to your room are severely outdated, dirty and not a good environment. They should have finished renovations of the entire hotel before making rooms available to the public. But it appears that due to greed they want to (of course) make money during their renovations. The owners/front desk staff are not friendly or helpful. Even though the hotel is advertised as “pet friendly”, they told me they would move our room away from other rooms so our dogs don’t disturb others. I thought saying that was a bit rude and presumptuous. Our dogs are well behaved. They could have just booked that room without that comment. Plus we still had to pay $25/dog/night= $100 per stay. Definitely not worth it! Overall, I don’t recommend this hotel. Not worth it.

This property is terrible. Beds are at least 25 years old. Phone didn’t work. Lamp would not turn off had to unscrew light bulbs no refrigerator in room. Only 2 towels per room. We had 3 people in our room. NO hot water the entire stay. Shower was like ice. Front desk said let it run for 10 minutes. Still no hot water. Room was dirty. TV remote only worked occasionally for certain things. Worst hotel I have EVER stayed in my entire life.

Very nice location. In process of remodeling so many things not “ finished”. Was not told there was no daily housekeeping service. Almost needed a step stool to get in the bed. No hotel info in the room. Front desk staff a bit cold.

Our room was “freshly renovated”, by that I mean they must have finished it minutes before checking us in because there was multiple issues. No hot water, light above the TV would not shut off (getting our 2yr old to sleep was a task and she woke multiple times during the night likely because of the light not being off), no lights in the sink area, mold in the window AC unit, no lock for the bathroom door, the list goes on. $148 for this room and I should have stayed elsewhere. That being said, I called about the hot water around 10pm and they fixed the hot water around 8am.

Not sure if I got lucky or not based on other recent reviews. But it actually was very pleasant. The rooms are nice and actually do look like their photos (one review said otherwise). The remodeling looks very nice and nearly every aspect/furniture looks up to date. Price is right and if you have kids, there is a pool. Only complaint would be the bathroom. The bathtub wasn’t relatively dirty and had some hair in it. Trust me I’ve seen way worse so it’s not a deal breaker.

Don't let the pictures fool you, this place is a total dump. I booked a three night stay but checked out after one night and canceled the rest of my reservation, found a nearby Super 8 that was nicer than this place for half the price. The sink and the shower in my room were both broken, everything was grimy and barely cleaned, the staff refused to give me more pillows or blankets for my room because they said I was "just going to steal them." I briefly tried to use their indoor pool, only to discover it's not heated (and filthy). At $110 a night my expectations were pretty low, but this place cut every corner imaginable and it shows.

Should have read the reviews! No hot water in the morning to take showers and for 5 of us that’s a problem. Phone in room didn’t work to call front desk on situation. One 1 pillow per person. Only 2 towels in the room for a room that holds 6 ya know with 3 queens in a room you should expect 6 people. No towels for the pool. Smells like weird people and remodeling noises on a Sunday. Will never stay again. Can’t believe it’s called a Wyndham Garden. Do better!
