St. Martin Hotel & Resort Travel Guide

With more than 200-plus days of sunshine per year, it is easy to see why Christopher Columbus was so fascinated with the Caribbean island he discovered on his second New World voyage in 1493. Encompassing nearly 34-square miles, St. Martin is considered one of the top destinations in the Caribbean. Discount accommodations only add to the appeal of this island getaway.

St. Martin hotels on the island's French and Dutch side present entirely different yet uniquely special experiences while visiting here. Hotels in St. Martin on the island's Dutch side aren't far away from festive nightlife, gorgeous beaches, and bars and restaurants serving up exotic drinks made with rum-based liquors unique to the island. Local festivals and events like the Heineken Regatta are big draws.

Duty-free goods, exotic food, and flavorful wines are just some of the island perks you can enjoy when taking advantage of St. Martin hotel packages. In fact, many of the designer goods sold on the island are cheaper than the same items found elsewhere. Rental cars are readily available when looking to explore the island as well.

The main cities are Philipsburg and Marigot. Princess Juliana International Airport, offering a descending beach view, is the island's main airport. Both sides of St. Martin are characterized by large mountain peaks and hilly terrains. Regardless of which hotel you book, you will have easy access to many prime island hotspots. Reservations should be made early to lock in a cheap St. Martin hotel deal.

The best St. Martin hotel deals on the island's French side present a more eclectic and sometimes exotic lifestyle. In this part of St. Martin, you will find some prime shopping destinations and fun boutiques, colorful outdoor markets frequented by locals, and restaurants serving up delicious French and Indian dishes. Cheap hotel deals in St. Martin still offer plenty of luxury and convenient access to popular island destinations such as casinos and sandy beaches.

Warm temperatures and a dry climate make St. Martin a year-round travel destination. However, this tropical getaway sees fewer visitors in the summer months, especially from July through September. This is also when hotel rooms tend to be cheapest. During what is termed the low season, many hotels offer specials, reasonable rates, and discounts as an incentive to visit the island during the off-season. Reservations at reasonable prices, however, can still be found throughout the year if you book early.

"Nice place to stay on a good beach"
We had some difficulty finding the hotel in the dark because our flight was late and luggage was lost. The hotel is a good 45 minute drive (if you know where you are going) from the main airport. Once we found our way we really liked the location and the beach although it is a small beach. We spent some of our days going to the other beaches. The pool is very nice and the staff was friendly

    "Great hotel, great staff"
The room was very nice, very spacious. Great view of the valley and ocean below. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the only real complaint I have is that the mattress was thin and the bed wasn't that comfortable. Everything else was outstanding and I would definitely go back again.

    "Orient Beach area small hotel"
Wonderful staff and breakfast (continental style with fresh croissants, baguette, fruit salad, yogurt, etc. by pool). OK room, large but no easy chair or couch, Direct access to pool (small but seemed very clean). Gated parking was good. Walk to beach, about 5 min, and some arrangement for beach chair if wanted, we did not use. Restaurants nearby in Village seemed good, maybe not great. The grounds are very grown in with palms and greenery, which is great, but unless wind is up, becomes a bit warm and stuffy. Orient Beach area is far form Margot and airport, so car or rather expensive cab ride needed. With car, easy to get to Grand Case or even Philipsburg. Beach area is very sports driven, fun to watch, many swimmers. Room had cooking area, so if you wanted to make lunch or simple dinner it is possible. There is a modest store in village. We picnicked a couple times. Problem is finding hotel, since Google map is wrong. Need to toke Orient Beach Hotels exit.

    "Simple and Easy"
Great access to the beach with a wonderful location right in the middle of Orient Bay. Staff was friendly and responsive. Rooms were "basic hotel" with all tile floors. Awesome location within walking distance to the "village" which had a wonderful mix of restaurants. Would recommend renting vehicle for any intra-island excursions - taxi prices are high

"The most perfect location in St Martin!"
We went to St Martin for our babymoon - didn't plan much at all and just wanted to get away to a sunny and warm location. We were so lucky to have stayed at Bleu Emeraude. First of all, the French side is by far nicer and more relaxed than the Dutch side. The hotel was ideally situated on the most beautiful stretch of beach - Grand Case. In addition, the famous restaurant row was only a quick 10 minute walk. We stayed for 8 days and tried out dozens of local restaurants. For lunch, we loved Captain Frenchy's - you can eat there and use their beach lounge chairs at no cost. It's such a cool vibe and delicious food. We loved that we could walk to the market, buy our own booze, and just bring it on the beach with us - never having to worry about service, waiters, etc. I also bought some basics like eggs and cheese that we could add to our freshly made French croissants in the morning. The coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice were also so pleasant to start the day with. I also loved that the hotel was centrally located to all of the famous beaches, and excursions. We could see Anguilla right from our room! I would highly, highly recommend this hotel if you're considering a trip to St Martin. I also have to mention that our trip was unexpectedly delayed due to the Blizzard in the Northeast - and the hotel staff was happy to arrange for us to stay the extra nights. It was truly such a memorable experience.

We had a great stay at GCBC. Beach was small, but we never had trouble finding chairs, pool was just redone and was beautiful. Restaurant was decent enough for breakfast and lunch but we went into Grand Case (a .5 mile walk) for dinner most nights. All the staff was excellent. We stayed in a loft studio and even though I enjoyed the loft, I'm not sure I would choose that room type again as the AC didn't reach the loft very well.
