I can not boast about this place enough. The staff goes above and beyond, the property is amazing, the local shops and restaurants are great… we absolutely enjoyed our stay and we will definitely be back. Extra shout out to Tammy who was awesome and friendly and made it even more enjoyable. Thank you for an incredible stay in Galveston.

The people were amazing and had a great B&B personal atmosphere, but not so fun for kids, and does not feel very safe. The deadbolt did not work and the door lock was questionable. The Uber driver warned us to walk in groups in the area. The air conditioner had towels jammed between it and the wall. The room felt sticky. Otherwise it was clean and very unique (old house after all). If you are looking for a unique personable place, this is for you, but if you are concerned about safety, this is not ideal. As this is a big concern for us, we did not stay to full booked time and we will not return.

Laura, I wanted to wait a couple of days to reply to this so it did not come across harsh. I feel it is important to address some of the things you mentioned. The area is extremely safe. The reason people choose to stay here is because you can walk everywhere. An UBER driver telling you the area is not safe is simply not true. We are in the Historic District, 4 blocks from the Strand. About the most quiet, peaceful place you can find in Galveston. The deadbolt you said "didnt work" is the original to the door, and over 100 years old. The mechanical lock on your door has its own lock, and you have interior lock as well. The front door lock is automated and is extremely popular in the hotel world. We are not setup for children and I am sorry your daughter did not have a good time. You told my manager when you were leaving that your daughter has sensory issues and having a chandlier above the bed made her anxious. I totally understand that and was happy to refund your second night to you. We are certainly geared towards couples and adults. I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay. I just had to address our location and safety. The Historic District is extremely quiet and you and your daughter were always safe not only with is, but in the location you chose.

Great place, only issue is stairs no elevator but its a b and b so dont expect it to have an elevator. The breakfast was amazing. Staff so friendly and made sure your stay was the best

This is a wonderful, historic bed and breakfast! The staff is friendly and helpful. The historic home is delightful and wonderfully located to shopping and dining with ocean port views.

There were so many little extras with this property, it is not just a "room". From the happy hour, coffee at the door, breakfast, night cap, ride into dinner, and the absolutely amazing staff who go above and beyond to make the stay an absolute pleasure! The only excellent they missed is the sidewalks in the area....to which they have no control. I highly recommend this place. You will need to be okay with stairs. 😊

Very nice location and house with very friendly and efficient staff. Easy check in and check out. Excellent basic breakfast to start the day. Located in the area of many historic and architecturally beautiful houses. Easy to walk around the quiet neighborhood looking at houses or a short walk into the old downtown area for shopping or dinner.

Just an amazing stay. I took my 7-year-old son because he thought the "mansion" part sounded cool, and he was so right. The house has been updated so it has modern plumbing, lighting, Wifi, TVs, etc., but it still has the "Gilded Age" wealthy Victorian feel. The staff is truly friendly and welcoming. We ended up in the room that Alfred Hitchcock reportedly thought of "The Birds" concept while staying in; it has its own balcony that you access by raising a window and walking underneath, which my son was delighted at. Free cocktail hour was a nice little social event where we had club soda and fruit & cheese provided. The included breakfasts are sooooooo much better than typical free hotel breakfast. No powdered eggs here! They even bring you a full French press coffee pot with a timer. We felt really fancy staying here, you can park right beside the house, and it's about a 4 block walk to the beginning of the entertainment district / not far from the Strand.

I spent one night at The Mansion on 17th prior to taking a cruise out of Galveston. As a solo traveler, I was well taken care of by Tammy (Innkeeper). I enjoyed meeting other guests during the social hour (cheese, crackers, olives, wine and cocktails were served). Tammy had the porch firepit on for those who wanted to sit outside (on a rare cold Galveston evening)...which I took advantage of after walking back to the Inn after dinner. I stayed in room 6 and enjoyed a bath in the clawfoot tub. The bed was comfortable and I appreciated that breakfast was served until 10:00 am. and there was a choice of items (biscuit and gravy, french toast or quiche). Thank you Tammy for a wonderful stay in Galveston and at The Mansion on 17th. I'll be back!

Breakfast was excellent, food is delicious. Tammy was especially helpful and went above and beyond in assisting us with our small wedding ceremony at the mansion. They also made transportation to the cruise port seamless. My wife and I highly recommend The Mansion on 17th for all of your vacation needs and wants.

Everybody is super friendly and helpful. The owner drove to pick me and my wife up from the Cruise Port and brought us to the mansion even though it was earlier than when they usually do that. And in his personal car. Then told us about the downtown area while our room was being cleaned. It was great.

A wonderful 3 days
This was an amazing bed and breakfast. The staff we so friendly and welcoming. In fact, I forgot my husband's jacket and they called and are mailing it to us. The only suggestion would be to alert guests about their claw foot tubs. A bit tricky to get into. They do have one room with a walkin shower.

The service was outstanding. The place was clean and well maintained for the age of the property. We had the most accommodating host that met us, transported us down to the Strand for a tour and dinner. Breakfast was by far superb. Parking was free and transportation to our cruise ship was provided on the day of our departure. This B&B is a must stay property in the Galveston area.

Best B&B I have ever stayed at
We stayed at the Mansion on December 4th and 5th. Weather was as expected 20-24C. We had the ground level room, with 15ft ceilings. The room as well as the mansion was so neat and historical. We loved the creaking floors and the older feeling, but all the comforts of home. Breakfast made to order in the morning by the owner Rick. Coffee and breakfast was amazing! We enjoyed happy hour at 4-5 with a drink of wine and some cheese, fruit and crackers. We met some sweet couples, oddly within an hour drive of Galveston (tells you how great the place it). We did a historical ghost tour at night, that was fun. Looking forward to making it back simply to stay there again.
