Awesome
Really enjoyed being away from the crowds. Waking up to the sound of elk bugling and having the herd just out the front door was a great experience. Would love to come back to this place for another vacation sometime down the road. James

Slice of heaven. Very happy we booked here for our first time visiting Yellowstone National Park. Had everything we needed and kids loved loft space clubhouse. Truly a great experience and would book again with no hesitation.

Beautiful log cabin!
We enjoyed our stay at this wonderful rustic log cabin on a picturesque ranch in Montana. Though being quite comfortable, it transported us back in time to the “old west” Amazing view sitting on deck, fields, bushes, babbling brook in the foreground, snow capped mountains in the distance (we stayed in May)…just wonderful. A long scenic unpaved road to access the property was also part of the charm. Very happy we were able to stay at “grandpa’s cabin!”

Cozy cabin
We were vacationing to Yellowstone and wanted a place other than a hotel. This place was clean, cozy and felt like a home. Also the sheets smelled fresh! A place we could relax after a long day of touring and make supper to enjoy outside with our family. The grounds were great to go for walks and visit the horses. My whole family enjoyed and we made a lot of memories.

Wonderful Ranch Experience
Our family had a wonderful time at this property and would highly recommend. It's likely we will be back soon for another visit. This is such a unique and beautiful setting and a great way to explore a backroad in a famous valley in Montana. The key with this property is getting exactly what we expected. We didn't want a hotel, we didn't mind the drive from the main road, and we value the quiet and privacy of being in a rural setting. The area is stunning, the quiet was fantastic and our kids didn't watch a single minute of TV for all of the things around them to keep them busy. (They are 7 and 5.) They played in the creek on the property, visited the animals who came to say hello, had a camp fire, and got their own beads in the loft each night. This is a cabin, to be sure, so don't expect multiple closed bedrooms and multiple full bathrooms, but the views and the setting were spot on. Be comfortable with a gravel road approach and enjoy the sunsets on the deck. We came to float and fish the Yellowstone River, and the location was great for that. One of our put-ins was right at the bottom of the access road to the property. It was also a bonus that Yellowstone hot spring was right at the bottom of the hill.

Awesome place to stay!
This cabin was beautifully located and decorated. Gives you a rustic feel and you can hear the sounds of wildlife, but know you are safe since you’re on the Ranch. The hosts were extremely amiable when we locked ourselves out of the house at 10:30pm as well! Came by within 10 minutes to assist us. Definitely recommend this cabin at Shai’s ranch!

an authentic cowboly cabin
this is our 2cnd time staying here,we love the little rustic cabin.it's the little house on the prairie but with moderen conveniences.it gives you the full Montana feeling. We are not into modern cabins or camping cabin trailer park type of places.we love the view here and the quiet.the owners dogs,Finn and Sadie were a very welcome fun guest every morning. That Finn is so smart and loves his ball throwing time.i wanted to take him home!we had 7 in this cabin and it worked out.there is only 1 bathroom so for larger crowds you just have to be patient...bring it back to the old ways and not be in so much hurry.enjoy the scenary and the elk herd travelling across the mountain and the deer that come through.if you want a true Montana experience, book this sweet cabin.it will be a great memory maker!

we arrived late but had no issues finding place or getting in. Place was very clean and well furnisher. Ambience was perfect for a father and his sons to get away. We really enjoyed our stay. Because of my mistake, we needed to stay an additional day. Shai was very gracious and accomodating.

BEAUTIFUL VIEWS
The cabin is exactly as pictured and the views are amazing. Even with other homes on the property you definitely feel secluded which is exactly what we wanted. The cabin was clean and comfortable. There is no air conditioner and I only mention this because it was one of my search criteria when looking for a cabin. We were able to open the windows on the warmer days and be comfortable. The nights are very cool. The owner was very responsive and kind, and the horses/dogs were friendly. We really enjoyed this escape from reality and were able to just relax and forget about the stress of everyday life. I highly recommend this property.

Piece of Heaven.
Our stay was better than we could have expected. The homeowner was very gracious and kind. We saw Elk and white tails with their fawns. The property was beautiful and located close to Yellowstone but far enough away to enjoy the serenity if nature. We are planning a return trip next year. Thank you Shai McDonald for helping make this a memorable stay.

Gorgeous but far
This was an amazingly beautiful location. Gods country. So peaceful. But that being said- it was very remote. We actually left a night early as the location was not working for us in our Yellowstone park travels After 6-8 Hrs in a car ,a long drive up a mountain one lane dirt road was too much for us. I also want to kindly tell the owners that someone needs to check on the property for cleanliness before each renter arrives. The cabin definitely was not cleaned thoroughly. The freezer was dirty, the bottom of fridge was dirty, the trash can was disgusting. If there were any cleaning products there such as Lysol I would have wiped everything down but there was zero cleaning products, The kitchen counter in front of microwave was sticky with coffee spills from previous renters and mouse poop on same area and on shelf of pots and pans below. Sink in bathroom had dead and live moths in it. The floor needed a good sweep which my Husband did. A quick walk thru would have corrected this before a quest arrived. I feel badly criticizing the property because of the beautiful location but as a former Home Away owner for years of a Cape Cod Mass rental property I know what expectations renters do have and the owner does need to be aware of issues. In closing ,this is a stunning spot but the remoteness is not for everyone.

A scary and unlivable place
We drove into gardener and found a nice populated city waiting for us. However, don't let this fool you, the drive to this cabin was 40 min into the forest. We were driving on dirt and we were led into the middle of the mountains. Our hearts were pounding as we got closer, we eventually even lost signal. We finally got there and it was a house straight from a horror movie. The pictures shown are complete lies, instead picture any house from any horror movie. We could've died there and no one would've known because it was so deep in the forest. There was no lights and the house door was left open. My daughter started crying and my wife refused to step out of the vehicle. IT WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. NO ONE SHOULD EVER VISIT OR RENT THIS PLACE IN THE FUTURE.

Unforgettable Mountain Ranch Experience
Six miles off the highway on a dirt road that follows a creek up the mountain, (aprx 13 miles from Yellowstone) Grandpa’s cabin is certainly away from it all. Cabin is exactly as pictured and described. It is no frills, but clean, and draft free and there is Plenty of hot water. Know that this is a 1 room cabin. Only interior door is to bathroom. The gas log fireplace maintains temperature set on thermostat. The beds are comfortable and all linens are good quality. The property manager answers inquiries within an hour or two. There are a few other cabins on the property, but each has privacy. Our favorite parts were: The horses and dogs like to greet you. The views are amazing . We watched elk herd, including young every morning and evening. Least favorite part is that it takes a least 25 minutes to get to Gardiner for gas or food.

Beautiful cabin, great location near Yellowstone
We loved this cabin. It was perfect for our family of 2 adults and 2 kids. The outlook is gorgeous and the location near Yellowstone and also the stunning Tom Miner Basin is terrific. The kids had a great time playing in the icy cold creek and making s’mores on the fire pit in the evenings. Highly recommended.
