Beautiful villa in wonderful mountain village location with stunning views.
We were not disappointed when arriving at the villa. The property is amazing - spacious and beautifully decorated. As a multi-generational family of 9, we had all we could possibly need. Space, great weather - the grandchildren fully enjoyed the pool, wonderful walks and the most breathtaking and stunning views. When not in the water, the children spent their time vulture spotting. Mark is a superb host and helped us source medical care for a family emergency. He responded quickly to emails and was only a phone call away if needed. We certainly all fell in love with the village and I would highly recommend a stay there.

Stay at Gaucin
We had a magical stay at Mark and Star’s Villa in Gaucin. The pictures do not do the location and views justice, a truly stunning place. There was ample room for the 8 guests with various spaces to relax, eat and sunbathe, and we particularly enjoyed eating as the sun set on the terrace. Gaucin is a great place with lots of restaurants and groceries available and we were lucky enough to be at the first food festival held over the weekend. As with other reviews the are a few things in the villa that could be updated, but this did not deter from the stay. I really didn’t want leave and to me that says everything about the villa and hosts

Amazing Villa in the white villages of Andalucia
What a lovely villa and surrounding area! Gaucin was the perfect village for our group - within walking distant and a number of fabulous restaurants to choose from with breathtaking views. But I also would have been content to never leave the grounds. Views are stunning and the pool provided a deep, refreshing respite from the summer heat. Mark was a fantastic host and met our every need. I would go back in a heartbeat!

Beautiful villa and village
A1 location, incredibly relaxed and great hosts, Mark & Star, who happened to be around and asked us for lovely drinks at their other property. So relaxed in fact, that I read 3+ books in a week. Plenty of great eateries, although we did BBQ twice too.

Amazing location and super house.
Wonderful location, great property, super pool and extremely helpful host. Whilst perfectly serviceable, a couple of the bedrooms and the kitchen would benefit from a refresh.

Le regard par-dessus les montagnes
Cette propriété vous donne l’impression de rêver les yeux ouverts! Nichée dans un petit village dans les montagnes, la localisation de la maison permet de se balader à pied pour visiter tout prêt et aussi de sortir un peu plus loin en voiture pour explorer les alentours. La vue est incroyable et difficile à décrire tellement c’est beau et apaisant. Le jardin est superbe et même si nous étions trop tôt en saison pour profiter de la piscine, nous avons quand même eu l’occasion de nous prélasser sur les patios autour. Nous recommandons sans hésiter!! Excellente communication avec le propriétaire.

Amazing house with outstanding views!
Fantastic house with amazing views of mountain valley, Gibraltar, Mediterranean, all the way to Morocco! Gaucin in a wonderful village with several bars and restaurants within its narrow winding roads (get a small car) Host was a great communicator and did everything possible to make sure we were happy and comfortable.

Awesome home and location
We spent almost a week with our adult children at this lovely property. The house fit our needs completely. The living and outside areas were particularly nice, and the weather was ideal to enjoy the great outdoors. Additionally, its central location enabled us to take wonderful day trips to such places as Ronda, Marbella, Gibraltar and Tangier. The property owners were incredibly helpful and gave us suggestions as to what to do, where to go, and even the hiring of an outstanding local chef. Highly recommend!

Fantastic Villa, Wonderful Location and Views
We visited end of October for a week, with 3 generations of family. The villa is fantastic, views were amazing and just a short stroll to lovely tapas bars. We visited Ronda, Estepona and met up with other local family, as well as spending a few days just chilling out at the Villa enjoying the peace, pool and views. The Gaucin roads are a little daunting, but we had a 9 seater mini-van and after a couple of days quickly got used to the tight spots! Mark was fantastic in his communication, never took longer than 30 mins to get back to me, even when on a trip to Costa Rica. Would not hesitate to recommend or return.

Beautiful house in a nice village with many top notch restaurants. Areas to the north offered excellent and varied road cycling. Cycleronda in Ronda offered great suppprt for our cycling holiday.

Fabulous!
A wonderful property but could do with a little updating in one of the bathrooms and the kitchen. But overall it is a great property with nice bedrooms and living spaces and with glorious views towards Gibraltar and Morocco. The pool area is really magnificent as are the outdoor dining areas. It would be difficult to find better elsewhere!

Great Villa, stunning location, brilliant owners = memorable holiday
I booked the villa months in advance. It was late into the evening of my own birthday party, and based on the amazing pictures and great reviews (and a bit of wine) we couldn't believe the villa was available on the dates we wanted to book..: so we booked it. As we got closer to the booking I did start to wonder if it would really be as good as we'd hoped or the reviews stated. All I can say is it easily met our hopes and expectations, and the proactive, genuinely helpful and considerate owners were the icing on the cake. The villa itself is well laid out, with excellent communal spaces, each making the most of the amazing location and views, this makes eating and socialising in a large group easy (8 in our party), and enjoyable. The gas barbecue was a real bonus, for those evenings when we chose to cook rather than eat locally. Gaucin itself has a lot of great options for eating and drinking, and the small local shop is incredibly well stocked. In summary, I couldn't recommend the villa enough. The only thing that would make me hesitate is that someone else might book it on the basis of this review and we'd miss out, next time we choose to visit. That said, the owners deserve a full diary of bookings, they were great.

Wonderful week in Gaucin
Had a truly lovely week in this fabulous villa. From the moment we booked contact with the hosts was efficient with lots of useful information, a map to get to the villa (much needed initially) and recommendations and tips about the restaurants and bars. The villa itself is wonderful and comfortable with everything you need and only a short stroll into beautiful Gaucin. However the crowning glory is the outside space, the pool and in particular the views which are quite special. Would happily recommend a stay to anyone and hope one day to return.

What Memories are made of.....
We like others had planned our stay in Gaucin sometime ago, postponing several times during Covid. Our stay in Villa Djebel was certainly worth the wait. The online photos don't fully capture the magical nature of this stunning home and its sensational views. The house was booked for a family birthday celebration in 2020 but covid restrictions overtook. Throughout multiple reorganisation of the event Mark was extremely helpful and flexible. Communication was excellent and he helped organise a surprise on arrival. The photo's on the listing attracted me to this property and in real life was truly fabulous. Everyone in the party of 9 loved the house, views and village. We had a really special holiday and will definitely look to return.

Fabulous house in perfect location
We loved our stay here - the house was brilliantly equipped and had spectacular views across to the rock of Gibraltar. We spent most days on the patio area by the pool watching the amazing bird life and views while the kids enjoyed the lovely pool. Then a short walk and we were in Gaucin with its great tapas bars and restaurants. This was without doubt one of the best holiday houses we have stayed in.

Idyllic.
Thank you so much we had a perfect stay. The house is comfortable and works well for a large party. The outdoor spaces are ingeniously designed to maximise the stunning views and absorb the peace. What a superb villa with amazing views. It is far enough out of town to give you peace and tranquillity but close enough to walk to the shops and restaurants. The villa is well equipped and the pool is lovely. The property manager (Esther) is really on the ball, we had a couple of minor issues which were dealt with in a matter of minutes - what a service!! The owners (Mark and Star) are just the easiest people to deal with, as soon as they heard about any kind of problem they were in touch immediately to ensure everything was ok which is something I’ve never experienced before - thank you so much! Would certainly recommend to anyone wishing to explore Southern Spain.

Fabulous place
This villa surpassed our expectations. It was very well fitted and furnished, full of character and had the most incredible views, from almost every window, and also from the fabulous pool terrace. We were a group of 4 couples, and each of us had a marvellous room. The shared areas were perfect, and we particularly loved the outdoor terrace which held both a dining table, and a second social area, with marvellous views out for miles, as far as Gibraltar and Africa. Totally private once inside, and really peaceful - many hours spent just gazing out at the view, watching the eagles! Hard to beat. Probably not suitable for someone who struggles with stairs, but otherwise, pretty much perfect. Some great walking in the area also. The owners were extremely helpful, answering a number of requests for information very promptly. The village of Gaucin is also a fantastic place - small enough to feel like a village, and yet a number of shops and excellent restaurants within easy walking distance. We particularly liked Terral, and had some great food from the lovely Bonissim deli also. Really no need to leave the village if you didn't want to. We had a wonderful week here, and I would have no hesitation recommending it. Hopefully will be back at some stage! Thank you Mark and Star for a truly memorable holiday.

A beautiful spot
Excellent villa which lived up to it's advance publicity, a fantastic position and a very well equipped and charming house. Eating out in Gaucin can be a challenge due limited options and unexpected closures on certain days so there is a need to plan ahead.

The most amazing views from the balconies, absolutely stunning! Very comfortable villa, a real home from home. Gaucin is a food lovers paradise and has some really fabulous restaurants. As well as great produce from local stores and an amazing butchers! A holiday that will totally rejuvenate you and leave you wanting more!

Attractively furnished villa which felt like a home. Truly stunning views in good location.
Positives first. Very attractive property with truly stunning views. Beautiful pool area and the garden was a highlight with a variety of mature trees and shrubs and lots of colour. Really pretty. Lovely outside sitting areas. House well located on edge of town but within easy walking distance of all facilities. Gaucín is a very pretty village with nice restaurants and bars. Negatives - kitchen was rather dated and indoor dining area was dark with bars on windows. Couldn’t open dining room door to terrace. Sky TV didn’t work. Studio room felt damp. Pool unheated so unusable in April. However overall impression was very good and would definitely recommend to friends.

We’re glad you enjoyed your stay. We note your comments: the kitchen is simple rather than fancy though in due course we plan to add a new cooker hob - other appliances were new in 2018. We’re sorry you weren’t able to open the French window grills in the dining room - our house manager is always on hand to help and the key hangs behind the curtain. On the Studio, we will be sure to run the heating for a day before guests arrive in future as it doesn’t get used so regularly in the low season. As you say, the pool isn’t heated - the swimming season doesn’t really begin until hotter weather in May/June. We understand the Skybox malfunction was frustrating – its working well now and we will try and find out what the issue was. Notably, not all channels are available in Spain. Thanks again for your comments and for staying with us.

Beyond Incredible
My husband and I just returned from the charming town of Gaucin, Spain. We have traveled quite extensively and this property was stunning. You have to see it in person to understand how beautiful the views from this property actually are. In a word, incredible! The property owner, Mark, was great to work with and most helpful with lots of great information in advance of our trip. In addition, even though we were there during the off season (late November), the town was so charming with great tapas bars and also several grocery stores for house stocking and multiple (very nice) and delicious restaurants we were lucky enough to visit. All-in-all, I highly recommend this property. Even seasoned travelers will have a hard time finding a house like this with more amazingly beautiful views of the countryside and the Rock of Gibraltar. We would absolutely come back and visit this beautiful home and town!

Stunningly beautiful
What a fabulous place. It was more beautiful than we imagined and the views every morning continued to take our breath away, time and time again. The house is super comfortable and we loved cooking in the kitchen and having long lazy lunches on the terrace. Sleepy afternoons spent by the magnificent pool were some of the most relaxing we’ve ever had. Evening dinners in the beautiful village were always delicious. Gorgeous and welcoming home
We recently had the good fortune to stay at Mark and Star's gorgeous home, Djebel Musa. Set on the edge of the picturesque white town of Gaucin, the views from nearly every room were absolutely breath-taking. As a multi-generational family group of 9, the home was perfectly suited our needs. With 5 lovely bedrooms and 5 bathrooms arranged over three levels, we all had as much privacy as we needed, while at the same time the gathering areas - living room, dining room, terraces - were comfortable, inviting, and spacious enough to easily accommodate our entire group. The kitchen is well-appointed, and we were able to prepare several of our meals at home. The entire house is very tastefully decorated. We particularly enjoyed going from room to room to admire the Moroccan rugs hanging throughout. And then there's that stunning pool! If only it had been a few degrees warmer, so that we could have gone swimming. As it was, gathering poolside in the afternoons to enjoy the sunshine and the view was almost as good. We found the town of Gaucin enchanting, as well. We arrived just in time for the raucous festivities surrounding Gaucin's traditional Easter Day Bull Run - a memorable event, to say the least - but were glad of the peaceful days that followed, enabling us to thoroughly explore the town. We felt a sense of accomplishment as we finally learned how to navigate the narrow, labyrinthian streets of Gaucin (we recommend renting the smallest cars possible if you plan to drive through the town), and we enjoyed sampling several local restaurants, sitting in the welcoming town squares, and taking hikes to the castle overlooking the town. Gaucin is well-located for exploring other parts of Andalusia, as well, and we were able to take day-trips to Sevilla, Ronda, and Gibraltar. Overall, we had a magnificent and memorable stay at Djebel Musa, and we wish we could have stayed longer.

Amazing Home, Breathtaking Views and Wonderful Host
Djebel Musa is spectacular, the views are breathtaking and Gaucin is unforgettable. It is quite evident that Mark and Star are passionate about Gaucin and Spain from the details within the house. It is decorated to make you feel welcomed and the hosts have put a lot of effort in providing detailed instructions for the home and recommendations and guides for the area! Mark even helped arrange a wonderful private chef (Maria)! The house is very spacious, filled with amenities, comfortable bedrooms and a cozy family room, multiple balconies and patios with outdoor seating/dining table and breathtaking views, and an extremely well kept garden/pool. There is a lot to enjoy in the village of Gaucin (with its friendly people and fantastic restaurants), but we were tempted to visit Rhonda and Gibraltar since they are very close and easily accessible. I agree with some of the other past guests, it is hard to leave this place ... but my family is already looking forward to return to Djebel Musa in the near future!

Beautiful property, spectacular views, friendly town
A beautiful and interesting property with every facility you need for your holiday. The view from the villa is something else, absolutely breathtaking - you can never tire of it! Would recommend this to anyone looking for something away from the usual coastal tourist traps, the mountain drive itself is an experience! We hope to visit again in the years to come.

Superb property in a quiet location with beautiful views
Villa was spacious and well furnished and made to feel very welcome by both the owners and the manager who visited us. The ideal place for a family or group gathering to get away from it all in a lovely small town.

**THIS PLACE IS SPECIAL**
We have traveled extensively worldwide and naturally have our very favorites. This was our first time to Gaucin and this Villa and now it is on our favorites list. We created some more special memories with our children, their spouses and our four grandchildren (ages 12-16). The village is totally enjoyable and authentic. If you like an area with a lot of tourists, this is not for you. If you like some authentic areas with really nice people -- try this place. We visited Gibraltar (you can see it from the Villa!), Ronda and several other places nearby. On several days, we all voted to stay in Gaucin to just enjoy the small shops, bars, and of course the Villa and the pool! The owner (Mark) was extremely helpful in the planning phase and while we were there by keeping us informed on how to get there, contacts in Gaucin and recommendations on what we should consider. There is a lot of information in the books they left on the dining table about what to do, treks and much more. The housekeeper (Esther) also came by several times to assist and was immediately responsive when I called her. The gardener was also very polite and helpful. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Dave & Shirl

It is a stunning villa, so beautiful from every vantage point and vista
There were 8 women in our group and we have traveled together on numerous occasions but this place was so outstanding in many ways. The decor was just delightful with so many artistic touches to every space. The house was very comfortable with plenty of accommodations for everyone and lots of room to spread out or to be together. We enjoyed walking in the village and cooking most of our meals. The dining room was lovely and then there were two outside dining areas that were comfortable with beautiful views. The landscaping around the house was delightful, lovely pool although it was too cold to swim when we were there. The views of the Rock of Gibraltar and Morocco were just stunning. We all hope we can return someday.

A slice of Heaven
We were a group of nine adults staying at Djebel Musa. From start to finish, this was an excellent place to stay. The directions sent to us in advance were extremely helpful, as was the numerous other bits of advice we found in the three ring binder. Gaucin was an amazing place to live for a week!!

A lovely place to spend Christmas with the family
The house is beautifully situated with stunning views and close enough to walk into the village. It is very well appointed with everything you need, we could not have found a better place for our family Christmas in Gaucin. We had beautiful weather and were able to sit by the pool, use the terraces and even BBQ one evening. When the evenings got colder, we lit a beautiful warming fire. There are lots of lovely walks and other villages to visit. We will be going back soon hopefully.

Family holiday in Gaucin
It was a real pleasure to return with my grown-up children to the house built by my step-mother and late father twenty years ago, and our stay was peaceful, private and luxurious. It was a joy to see the olives,carobs and pomegranates in the garden. Anyone who has seen the view from this house will have it etched on their memory forever. The weather was fine all week, and we swam every day - not bad for October!
