I believe that the hotel - hotels.com should have been upfront in regards to what services where open at the time we booked. Everything was shut - breakfast was basic and service very unenthusiastic especially for the rare of $195. Would have been more than appreciated to have received at least an off season price. Spa was not in operation either. We did not stay our 2nd night and therefore 1 might basically cost us $409. Not a place I would recommend.

Exceptional hotel secluded off the beaten path.

Pros: Everything
Location: It was close to Yoho National Park and a short drive to Glacier national park
The room was spacious, very clean, bed comfortable and the wife loved the bathtub. Location was secluded with lovely views and areas to hike .

The lodge is beautiful and the rooms were very nice. It was in a remot location so when we arrived we expected the restaurant would be opened for dinner and drinks and it was not. We were told by the owner that it would be opened the next night and we expressed our intention to eat there. After a long day of hiking we arrived back at lodge to find the restaurant was closed with no explaination. We then had to take the long drive back to town to find a place to eat. If we had known the restaurant was not going to be opened, we would have found a place to eat before driving back up the mountain to the lodge. The owners were not interactive and were distant even though there were very few guests. Also, hot tub was not working and after hiking we expected to use it. Again, the owners did not seem to care. Overall, nice place but bad service.

Nice rooms a lot of kinks

Posted Aug 18, 2015
In general, it is a good place, I will return when I come to the area again. The room is large. Common area is inviting and pleasant. There is not enough lighting in the room. In the evening, common area lobby does not have sufficient lighting. Bath room sink counter is very small. It is about the size of a budget hotel Facility has no AC. In a warm and humid afternoon. I wish they had AC. It does cool off in the evening to say you do not red AC. Facility does require you to take off your shoes when inside. You need to climb two floors to get to your room from parking lot Provided breakfast does not have meat. For their price range, I would expected it. During our stay, microwave did not work one morning. The second morning, toaster did not work, both were fixed later in the day. Beds had down/feather blanket and cushion. The rough texture of feather bed cushion is a minor annoyance/discomfort. I wish they took it out.

Familiäre, urige Unterkunft in schöner Lage abseits des Ortes. 15 Minuten bis nach Golden. Ausstattung sehr gut, sehr freundliches Personal, gute Betten. Zimmer in sehr gutem Zustand. Jederzeit gerne wieder.

Lodge has character. Great room was awesome. Place is a little dated and could use some sprucing up. Towels are a bit on the small side and didn't cover everything I wanted them to. Breakfast was decent. No AC which wasn't ideal in the 30+ degree heat. "King" bed was actually two singles pushed together with a topper. Room was comfortable otherwise.

I was very quiet and relaxing, far away from busy highways, roads and shopping centres.

Less than expected

Posted Sep 3, 2014 on Hotels
This accommodation is more B&B than a hotel. Firstly we were required to remove shoes in the foyer and dirty, used scuffs were on offer if you chose not to go barefoot whilst indoors. The manager described how friendly his clientele are but people we encountered were less so. Our room lacked fresh towels, cake of soap; the step up into / out of bath was too high for the average person making a dangerous exit when wet after a shower. The bath edge was sharp and my wife injured her knee on it. Breakfast - crockery was both chipped and unclean, tongs not provided and unrelated patrons accessed breads and cereals with bare hands, food hygiene is not a priority of this management. Value for money poor. The Winston is not representative of Kicking Horse, a resort which is good value. I would not recommend the Winston.

Nothing special, but it's fine.

Couldn't get the bath hot water to make it to the shower head. That kind of totally sucks.
