From walking in the door staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was comfortable and clean, with a good powerful shower.
Breakfast was excellent in terms of quantity and quality, again with very friendly service.
The only slight negative that I had was, what I assume was air freshener, was very overpowering and unpleasant.
Our stay absolutely lovely will be staying again.
The only thing that was missing was a easy chair in the room.
All the staff are amazing and made are weekend very pleasant.
Look this place is everything you need in a lake district inn. Warm fires, excellent food and some genuinely outstanding beer.
The staff were amazing with us and I cannot compliment the bar staff or chefs enough.
Would go back tomorrow would give it 6/5 it it were possible to rate it that highly
We had an excellent comfortable stay. Met up with family. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and professional.
Would definitely recommend if passing through ‘Ings’ which is a lovely place to stay.
Hope to go again soon.
What a fabulous place and just a couple of miles out of Windermere. The Inn has a great atmosphere and the speciality ales are just what you need after along day of hiking. The rooms are great, superclean and very comfortable. To top it all, the cooked breakfasts in the morning were both hearty and delicious.
Thr staff were also super helpful too. This was the first time we have stayed here but will definitely come again. Would highly recommend, especially perfect for dog owners.
This was very much a last minute decision. Booked expecting a 3pm check in. We were in the area early and asked if we could check in early - staff accommodated us. Tom was lovely and clean. Staff were kind, friendly and made us feel at home. We were so impressed we had dinner - great local food and a great range of drinks in the bar. Bar was frequented by regulars who were friendly and keen to point out their favourite menu choices.
The bar is dog friendly, however the restaurant side is dog free if you want a quieter break.
They be around 12 different beers. All are so good we bought bottles for find and family. We will be back.
Spent 2 nights at the watermill with my partner. We had room 4 just at the top of the stairs. Small but very clean and comfortable. Food was amazing. Breakfast was really good lots of choice. Great staff fab place
After a soaking on my motorbike I was welcomed with a warm smile & an offer of drying out my motorbike gear overnight. A warm cosy restaurant served delicious food & a much needed cold beer couldn’t ask for more
One of our go to places when up in Kendal for business. Clean & friendly and a good choice of things on the menu. Food is delicious!
Only downfall we had was we booked a certain table for dinner one evening and one member of staff had moved us and was quite rude about it! Original table was empty the whole time we were in the restaurant! Wouldn’t have minded if she had been polite and explained why the move had been made!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Good evening meal, good breakfast just needed to cook the bacon & especially the sausages more (we specially asked for well done bacon & sausages) & keep the baked beans hot not lukewarm which spoiled the meal. Room very small & compact & beware of the very large wooden beam which is very low in the middle of the room. Would definitely eat a lunch/dinner meal again when passing.

Disliked: Room comfort
Below average for price
Breakfast doesn’t start until 8:30…. Absolutely no use at all if you’re working or want to get out and about.
Room 6 was very cramped and with it being on the top floor the ceiling tapered off due to the roof to the extent where you were bent double. Bathroom was small and has a radiator above the toilet positioned just right to hit your head on as you stand up.
Meal was very good in the evening.
Definitely not worth the money charged.
At first sight the place looked lovely. We arrived mid afternoon. There was a roaring fire, the girls behind the bar were very friendly, and the next morning, breakfast was great. But that evening, we went up to our rooms at about 5:30, and noticed that it was cold, and that the radiators were off. I went downstairs, and reported it to a girl working in the restaurant. She said she would ‘boost’ it, and that the radiators were on a timer. Nothing happened, and an hour later, we had to leave for our family do, just out of Kendal.
We left the function early, so that we could get back, and have a drink or two before going to bed. We returned to the Inn just after 10, and it was dark, and everything was locked up, including our access to the bar. Bear in mind that this was a Saturday night. We had no choice, but to go to our rooms, which were still cold. I don’t think the radiators had been on at all, but there was no one to tell, or to help.
This really spoilt our evening, and the women in the room next to ours, said that they slept fully clothed! We went to an Inn, because we thought that they would be open until 11 on a Saturday night, otherwise we would have stayed longer at the family function. If they had staff problems, then they should have told residents when they arrived! I complained to one of the breakfast people in the morning, and they said that the owners would be in touch. It’s now a week later, and I’ve heard nothing! Unacceptable!
Single occupancy for two nights - small room, but clean, good shower & comfortable bed. Food (smoked salmon & scrambled eggs for breakfast and Cajun chicken salad in the evening) was excellent and portions were generous. Staff friendly and efficient. All for a very reasonable price. Great location to explore Lake Windermere.
