“It was a great location. We did find the car park a little bit tight and tricky to get into (as the road was fairly busy when we arrived). The cottage was great and had all we were after and the downstairs bathroom was great for my elderly Mum. The two single beds mattresses were a bit past their best so the only thing I’d suggest to improve the property would be an update of those. Otherwise it was a great place to stay right on the river.”

“Great location and great, safe private parking spot. Cottage is clean, spacious and cosy. Cottage is a little old fashioned, and needs a bit of TLC but the basics are all there and some nice touches- milk in fridge, bread, butter, eggs, tea coffee etc supplied. Would stay again as reasonably priced for what it is.”

“Really lovely cottage in the middle of Ambleside. Parking is off-site about 5 minutes away from the property up a very steep hill which wasn’t made explicitly clear so bare that in mind. There is nowhere to quickly park your car to unload bags or collect the resident’s parking permit so you have to pay for parking first. The showers were nice but honestly quite dirty with lots of black marks (possibly mould) on the shower head and the silicone which put us off using one of them. Besides that……

It was clean, modern and very spacious. The promised parking permit was left in the house for us on arrival, and although there was a van parked directly outside, we did manage to park behind it once orher cars had left (though this wasn't before we had to park elsewhere until a space became available). “Overall great place to stay-clean, comfortable and great location. One complaint-nothing was stocked like other homes/apartments we have stayed. We had to buy garbage bags, soap, salt and pepper, even toilet paper, etc. morning was stocked. Amazing amount of dishes/cookware in the kitchen, but that was it. I wish we would have known, we could have packed some of this from home. Other than that, good stay!”

"We’ve probably been spoilt by the modern world where we expect more from this kind of bed and breakfast places. The bread is like cardboard so it was difficult for me to swallow. Bacon quality was not good and was hard and difficult to chew. Hash brown is never my thing — feels like McDonald’s breakfast. Quality of the meat of the sausage was mediocre. So breakfast was only so-so. We were being put on the top floor, which has probably got the best view of the town. Never worked out how to watch the tele. You cannot cast your phone onto the tv to watch Netflix or anything, so you need to go watch a movie at the nearby cinema if you want entertainment at night (as the town sleeps early). Bed was too soft for my liking - whenever my partner moves I can feel it — not the kind of mattress I’m used to. The toilet is super small with a tiny shower — problem is the mould on the tiled wall. I am afraid of touching it when I showered but it’s difficult to avoid it as the shower is only about 3 feet by 3 feet. I don’t think a 200 pound human can easily fit inside. Also the mirror was fixed at my shoulder height so I need to bend down if I need to use it. There was no facial tissues available in the room so if you’re used to using facial tissues you need to bring your own. The ladies who did the cleaning up of the breakfast area looked so unhappy that one feels that they were forced to work there for the money. I would not personally come back to this particular B&B."
