“Beautiful location with everything you need to hand. The house was clean and conveniantly located. There was issues with the hot water being very hit and miss so had several unhappy members having to take cold showers if somone got there first. There was also a bat living in the wall of the main bedroom thet kept waking me up flying round the room in the middle of the night which started as a plus because the kids was amazed but ended with me being rather tired by the time it got to check out.”

“Apartment was really nice, roomy and comfortable, ideal for two couples. I wouldn't recommend it for families with kids due to proximity to a bar and noise in the evening. Only other niggle was that while the apartment was well kitted out in general, we had to go out and buy hand wash and toilet roll. Not ideal if arriving late and those are expected provisions in my mind. Overall though, I would recommend as handy central location and it was in good condition. View from the living room was……

“Excellent location. Overall I recommend the accommodation. I major issue: the showers in two of the rooms did not have hot water. When I attempted to contact the owner, via message app, I did not receive any response. We had 3 couples in the house, we ended up all having to use one shower. Note that shower was a handheld shower in a bath tub with no shower curtain. This resulted in water every way. Additionally the dryer stopped working, it took us a while and some googling to determine there……

“Overall we had a lovely time in Ambleside, the house itself was a bit grubby could do with a thorough clean, it said onsite parking on Expedia there is no parking it wasn’t a problem we parked in the village and paid £8 a day but shouldn’t be wrongly advertised, we tried to contact the property owners a couple of times about parking and the rubbish collection but still waiting for a reply, it is a lovely little house in a good location.”

“We love this site in Windermere and Top Lodge was a pleasure to stay in. The rooms were all clean and the beds were comfortable. Looked for a pet friendly option and this was perfect for us. The weather wasn't great and so we watched alot of TV, the only downside was the signal was poor but hey, nothing major.”

“The door of the en suite shower would not open properly and once in the shower it was difficult to get out !! Some shower gel would have been helpful. Overall the accommodation was very nice despite the steep steps up to the property. The decor was very tasteful and extremely clean and spacious. ”

“Clean and fully equipped kitchen. Very comfortable beds and accommodation. Perfect location for hiking and ambling into town. Special views from the apartment. Decor a little dated, power shower excellent but cubicle small. Missed having a washing machine for sports gear. Would book again as Ambleside and the Lakes are wonderful. ”

“Opening the windows and doors, the breeze is heavenly. When everything is closed, it is a bit musty. Great to have a nice kitchen, large bathroom with great water pressure. Great location, close and walkable to center of town, but also quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately we had packed thinking the washing machine was working, which it is not. The management team is not the most responseful, after 36 hours they said they will install a new one, but if important to you, you might want to confirm……

"We’ve probably been spoilt by the modern world where we expect more from this kind of bed and breakfast places. The bread is like cardboard so it was difficult for me to swallow. Bacon quality was not good and was hard and difficult to chew. Hash brown is never my thing — feels like McDonald’s breakfast. Quality of the meat of the sausage was mediocre. So breakfast was only so-so. We were being put on the top floor, which has probably got the best view of the town. Never worked out how to watch the tele. You cannot cast your phone onto the tv to watch Netflix or anything, so you need to go watch a movie at the nearby cinema if you want entertainment at night (as the town sleeps early). Bed was too soft for my liking - whenever my partner moves I can feel it — not the kind of mattress I’m used to. The toilet is super small with a tiny shower — problem is the mould on the tiled wall. I am afraid of touching it when I showered but it’s difficult to avoid it as the shower is only about 3 feet by 3 feet. I don’t think a 200 pound human can easily fit inside. Also the mirror was fixed at my shoulder height so I need to bend down if I need to use it. There was no facial tissues available in the room so if you’re used to using facial tissues you need to bring your own. The ladies who did the cleaning up of the breakfast area looked so unhappy that one feels that they were forced to work there for the money. I would not personally come back to this particular B&B."
