This is a great place to stay a 5minute walk from centre of town it is opposite the park which has crazy golf, pitch and putt, tennis and bowling something for everyone, This B and B offers excellent breakfast options and all quality ingredients cooked well

Great location, 5 minute walk to the centre of Ambleside but in a nice peaceful area opposite the park. Free parking is a bonus, friendly and helpful staff, lovely breakfast. Would definitely return :)

Our second year visiting. Wonderful husband and wife team who cook and serve us breakfast and I imagine do all the cleaning. I do not know who owns or manages this hotel, but perhaps it is time for the owner to look at certain things in the bedroom (bathroom blind, vanity stool) to be refreshed, and some repainting. The sunroom at the front of the hotel seems to be used as a storage unit which is a great waste of a nice sitting spot. The breakfasts are excellent again due to the husband and wife team. They are friendly and warm and a great asset to the hotel. We would definitely stay here again as it is in a great location, but mostly because of the welcoming attitude of the two staff members who work there. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

Enjoyable stay.
We have had a marvellous stay with this establishment. Everyone was very helpful, friendly, mannered and always with a beautiful smile. Breakfast was good quality but lack of choices, but we enjoyed ours with no complaints at all. Location is absolutely brilliant, five minutes walking time to the centre. Free carpark. Our bed was so comfortable and clean room. Thank you so very much for the manager Sam and the couple who served us at the breakfast time.

The staff at Rothay Garth are amazing. I had recently had an operation and they changed my room to help with accessibility. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was also fantastic, hot, freshly made and served with a smile. The location is also great for Ambleside a 5 minutes walk into town where there are loads of restaurants and cafes to choose from. The icing on the cake is parking, something which is scarce in Ambleside. We will definitely be going back!

The perfect Ambleside getaway
I couldn’t recommend this hotel more, it was the perfect getaway. It’s close to the heart of Ambleside and the bus links but also with stunning scenery. The hotel itself is charming and beautifully decorated, we even got a newly refurbished room that was really roomy and comfortable. The staff were so friendly, they let us check in early because the weather was terrible, they remembered us by name and even let us leave our bags and get changed after checkout. Breakfast was delicious and made to order, we couldn’t fault it. I’d recommend to anyone who wanted to stay in the Ambleside area and will hopefully be back.

A brilliant stay at Rothay Garth. It’s unusual to find accommodation so close to Ambleside centre with garden areas and plentiful parking space but this place ticks the boxes. The building is tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean and our bedroom was a decent size with a bath in the en suite. There is a residents lounge as well so guests have the option of staying in at night if they prefer. The breakfast was very good and cooked to order and it’s nice to have staff helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend this place and will return

Stayed here twice now and will return. In an ideal place just a couple of minutes walk to the centre. Lovely and clean and the bed is so comfortable. Bonus of having its own car park aswel. Friendly staff and great breakfast.

Great location, value and service
Booked last minute for 2 nights. Can’t fault the staff who were responsive, friendly and accommodating throughout. Particular shout out to Shannon who was extremely personable. Breakfast plentiful and well presented. Beds comfortable. Only thing we could suggest for the future is a larger shower cubicle (we are not a petite couple) and power shower. Will come back again.

Rothay Garth - Really Great
Loved it. This place is just incredible. We stayed two nights with our dogs in the most gorgeous, huge room (17) with a door out onto a little garden - perfect for the dogs. Free onsite parking You can’t take dogs into the dining area but no problem at all, they set the lounge up for us. We enjoyed private dining in the comfort of the beautiful lounge. The staff are incredible - so friendly but without being over bearing and super helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The location is spot on literally the edge of the town (right across from the pitch and put). Honestly cannot rate this place enough and we will most defo return - even considering getting a group of us together. Thanks Rothay Garth
