Ambleside inn
Perfect location, great breakfast.. bathroom and shower was very small.. overall good place to stay
Very pleasant stay. Very dog friendly. Staff very helpful. Food excellent. This hotel is in the centre of Ambleside. Only small negative is the charge for dogs of £15 per dog per night.
The staff were very friendly and worked very hard to make our stay comfortable. They went out of their way to make our holiday enjoyable.
The Inn is conveniently located in the centre of Ambleside, so you have easy access to shops and restaurants.

It is a lovely Inn right in the heart of Ambleside, staff were very helpful. We enjoyed the stay. The room was ok, however having a fan to make the room bearable was disappointing.
Stayed for 3 nights with our dog.
Food at the pub was nice and we were able to book a table for each night we stayed at the pub for the food.
Room was a decent size for what we needed as most the time was spent outside.
The room has a bowl for water for the dog, and a towel for them.
Tray for boots next to door to put them to stop mud in the room as well.
Room cleaned each day and service was great.
Lovely Pet-Friendly Inn
Nice renovated rooms
No parking. Paid council park down the road.
We had a pizza down the street but had a few beers in the pub which was dog-friendly.
Great stay with friendly staff and comfy rooms. Unfortunately, no parking provided. However, there is spaces outside the hotel which are free to park in out of hours.

I had a wonderful night’s sleep at the Ambleside Inn. Bed very comfortable, facilities in the room all I could have needed. The staff are helpful and friendly. Parking is a 5 minute walk away so if you have lots of luggage, worth dropping it at the Inn before parking at the Rydal car park (£8.80/night).

Dog friendly stay
Nice location room was ok but very warm. The did provide a fan in the room which was nice but noisy. The sick drain off was very slow so must have been blocked but as we were there for only one night didn’t bother us too much. The shower was good with good pressure and temperature settings. There really should be a small fridge in a room that gets this warm especially when small milk capsules are left on the side by the window. The evening meal was ok although the tables could have done with a better clean as were a little sticky. The staff were lovely and it were great with ours and all customers dogs.
I liked the location, which was excellent, right in the centre of Ambleside. There are plenty of shops, especially hillwalking type shops nearby. It is possible to walk to the lake, but for me it was a long walk. There are plenty of buses to go to the lake, to Windermere, or Bowness-on -Windermere.
The hotel has a dog-friendly bar, serving nice meals, with nice friendly staff.
Nice room to base ourselves from for the night before the Fred Whitton. Basic room with everything you need, only complaint would be that the room we had was facing the street and the Saturday nightlife was pretty loud till late walking past the front of our room that kept waking us up, appreciate this is outside of the hotels control though so not their fault but this is just a work of warning if you are after an early. Ight for an early start.
The hotel is in a very central location in the middle of Ambleside however there is no on site parking available. My room was clean and comfortable. I found it difficult to sleep though as the room was really warm and there was a lot of traffic noise early in the morning. Breakfast was very tasty with a good choice and the staff were friendly.
Good central location and staff very nice and helpful. Clean room, but a bit small and dated. The room was also too warm, although I'm sure a lot of guests would like that.
Unfortunately no car parking facilities, so parking can be a little expensive being in, The Lakes.
The facilities in the room were very poor, no telephone or remote for the TV.
Bathroom was tiny, you could nearly turn around in there.
The shower was a dribble of water.
There were only 3 staff on when we arrived and the pub was heaving. Staff had a couldn’t care less attitude, especially when I reiterated my earlier email request of a twin room.
There were only 2 staff on at breakfast, again it was very busy, and no one was assisting people on what to do.
Breakfast was poor also.
I feel totally ripped off by this pub, I stayed in a 5* hotel the night before with fantastic staff, amenities and catering for a fraction of what this place charged! They should have been wearing a mask when they took my payment as I felt robbed!
