This property is under major renovation, which was not advertised on Expedia. Their swimming pool and outdoor area is closed, you have to go across a busy street and down half a block to use a pool of a neighboring hotel. Due to renovation, it was very noisy. There is an additional daily $50 destination fee that I wasn’t aware of, which they should wave considering the status of their hotel at this time. On the wall and door of our bathroom, it appeared to have dried blood that was never cleaned up. The two things that I can say that was positive, is that their valet staff was very friendly and accommodating, and it’s in walking distance of downtown Santa Monica

I knew that the property was under construction but I didn’t realize how under construction it was. Also, the building next-door was under construction, so it was very claustrophobic and very noisy.

It's Under Construction
The staff is great, especially the valet crew, however this hotel is completely under construction. The rooms have all been renovated, but outside of that, nothing is up to par with what you would expect. The courtyard is roped off due to construction, the pool is closed, beach access from behind the building is closed. The fitness room and sauna are completely outdated and the sauna/steam room are unusable. To charge full price for this hotel while under these conditions is poor judgement, but to also charge a resort fee is nearly criminal. The only reason why I didn't ask for a refund and go somewhere else was because my family and I spent 10 hours traveling to Santa Monica, unpacked and didn't want to go through the hassle of getting a refund and book a new hotel in the area. I have no doubt it will be a great property once the construction is completed, but there are better options out there right now to consider.

Amazing stay!
We had a wonderful couples weekend stay and slept really well. The remodeled rooms are beautiful and they did a great job with sound proofing as it was really quite! Everyone was very friendly and we enjoyed the service we received! The location is fantastic and we will be back!

Nice location very close to beach and the Pier, as well as down town. There is a convenient Big Blue Bus that you can take to the hotel from LAX. Airport Shuttle bus (Free) to metro transit, then line 3 bus to a stop 100-200m from hotel (less than 2$ on a tap card you purchase - sounds unbelievable but true). A taxi is around 80$. Capos restaurant is 2 doors from the hotel, OK it's expensive, but a really great meal. They also run the cafe which is right beside the restaurant, again expensive but a great breakfast. We were traveling at a time that the AUD had done a nose dive, but still reasonable for what you get.

Was greeted before even walking in the doors by the wonderful valet and bellmen. They were all so helpful and attentive when my family and I arrived. We requested a crib for our two year old when we checked in. It arrived within a few minutes of us finishing our unpacking, so it was pretty speedy! The room we ended up in was amazing! We had our own private area and had a view of both the beach and the pier. The location is great if you’re someone who loves having everything within walking distance. Plenty of great restaurants and places to grab a drink at.

Since the property did not disclose it is under construction I wanted to warn others that it is. It needs an update for sure but if you don’t want to stay in a construction site come back when the update is finished. I didn’t appreciate getting an email a couple days before I arrived from the manager saying how exciting it is that one day this property refresh will be amazing (presumably at some future date). Transparency is rather essential in hospitality.

This is a beautiful hotel. The staff is wonderful., They are friendly, they are professional I don’t need to feel welcome. The hotel itself is so clean. The rooms have a great layout. The pool is nice. The weight room is great. I encourage everyone that comes in, a Santa Monica just stay here. Now they have renovations going on never know it but the six floor is open. It is beautiful. I took a chore before I left again this time again it is a wonderful hotel and the people that work there, make it even better. Michael Bukovec

Good but beware heavy construction
Beautiful hotel and location but when a hotel says they're renovating steer clear! We were expecting some hammering some sawing but they were seriously using a jack hammer! Only good thing was they generally stopped at 5pm

Unfortunately they were doing renovation and i was only told a couple days before so couldn't book elsewhere. 8am to 6pm Mon-Sat banging and drilling is a bit much. I'm sure it will be lovely when rebuilt, but id check first to make sure the work is finished.

We had a great stay at the Le Merigot Santa Monica. Everyone from the valet to the spa and fromt desk were very friendly and helpful. Totally recomend if you travel with kids and pets. Very cloae to the Beach and santa Monica Pier.

The property was great i had no issue as far as that.. the issue was the front desk clerk's attitude he was just so rude.. first we came in 10 minutes after 4pm so we were ready to check in and i didn't get it til 5pm also he said he was going to waive the fee for the first round of drinks at the bar which he did not..

Exceptional customer service from Michael from check-in, throughout our stay to check-out! Clarence was also nice to accommodate late check-out given some extra time needed to complete a virtual work meeting. Renovation work was in progress during our stay but did not disturb us during sleep hours which was great! We were disappointed to pay a $45 daily fee for services which we were unable to receive such as bicycle riding! The pool area was too full with no seating available throughout our entire stay until the day of check-out too. The hotel property should also consider offering better transportation/shuttle options to and from LAX airport as other nearby hotels do. We loved the convenient, beautiful location! Easily walkable distance to nice dining, shopping, and a variety of area attractions!
