Asphaltum or tar (brea in Spanish) has seeped up from the ground in this area for tens of thousands of years. The tar is often covered with dust, leaves, or water. Over many centuries, animals that were trapped in the tar were preserved as bones. LACMA features a World Cup exhibition right now, and this was my favorite piece. With all the best stores and more that you would like to shop at, a trip to The Grove is a must if you're in LA. There is a trolley that goes through the shopping area from one end to the other that you can hop on if you're too exhausted from all the shopping. Also, there's a neat farmers market located right next to The Grove This is a picture taken in the Mariposa Grove of #Yosemite #NationalPark, one of the most beautiful stretches of land in the US. Walk through, and you'll feel like you're in one of the most calming, relaxing places on Earth. Some long exposures in DTLA In Hancock park located in downtown LA are the La Brea tar pits. You can enter the park for free to see the tar pits themselves, as well as visit the museum for a nominal fee. One interesting fact was that the prior owner of this land brought the pictured mammoth here through downtown LA back in the 40's by towing it by VW beetle. What a sight that would have been! They have a lot restricted area (private)

It's actually a members only club but u can buy a temp membership for $10 (adding to the allure of the place). dark and stormy is the signature drink - delicious and deadly. Grab one a sit by the fire in the back. With unique hot dogs inspired by many of the films from Hollywood, Pink's is a great spot for a hot dog. Be prepared to wait in a long line if you go around lunch time, but it is well worth the wait. Celebrities also find Pink's to be a spot they enjoy, as you can see autographed photos from all the Hollywood stars! The best ones are here #Ramones

A must try when you are in LA. Large plate of Korean style smoked duck. You get to double cook them by pan fry on your tabletop grill. Eat them with the cabbage salad or dip them into 3 different sauces, soy ginger garlic, dijon mustard or sea salt. I liked it crunchy on one side like bacon and wrapped with pickled dikon. If you were going to compile a roster of Koreatown's greatest hits, it would be unthinkable to leave out the Dong Chi Mi Gook Su at the Corner Place.
