Breathtaking, peaceful, close to the GSMNP
As we arrived, I took a beautiful picture of the view, and it sits on my computer screen at work. Escaping the heat and humidity of a Florida July was amazing. To be able to open the windows and have a cool breeze was like a dream! This cabin had everything we needed, except an iron, but that was easily remedied as Walmart, Publix, etc are a short distance away. The Blue Ridge Pky entrance is right around the corner. Yes, the driveway is steep, but not unmanageable. The cabin is close to the GSMNP, tubing, rafting, etc. Enjoyed the hot tub, playing pool, and just looking at the view and listening to the wind in the trees. Everyone agreed it was a fantastic vacation, and a beautiful location. It's on my mind every day now, especially with the heat index around 110! Thanks for the memories!

Mile high
We had a wonderful time visiting Maggie Valley and staying at the Mile High cabin. The views were spectacular and I don’t know of anywhere else that the views could be more spectacular. We enjoyed the train ride in Bryson City, Santa Land, feeding the bears in Cherokee. My son and I visited the casino and actually won some money. Everyone had a wonderful time. At the end of the day there is nothing more important than spending time with your family.

OMG
Such a beautiful view as soon as you get to the destination. The home is very comfortable, but, oh that view. Surprisingly, there were lots of things to do and see in Magee Valley,Cherokee and of course the Blue Ridge Pkwy. We had a very enjoyable vacation.

Mile High Cabin Stay
Our vacation in the cabin was great. View was amazing. Home was clean, beautiful, with lots to do. Evenings were competitive games of pool and electronic darts. Oh, the hot tub was relaxing. Good books. Puzzles and checkers. Kitchen accomodations allowed for delicious breakfasts and evening meals. I would stay here again. Thank you , Shawn, for sharing your home with us!

Great Getaway
Mile High Cabin is the place to be when you want to get away for some peace and quiet. The porch provides a spectacular view of both sunrise and sunset. It was a great base for touring Maggie Valley and the Asheville area, as well as easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The road to the cabin requires a 4 wheel drive vehicle but it is not particularly difficult. The house is clean and well maintained, and had room for our family to cook and play games. The owner provided paper goods, soap, and laundry supplies, which is the first we have seen for a rental property. Overall, this was a great place to stay.

Relaxing paradise view!
Shawn was great from check in and thru out our stay, even with a non techie renter, he was great & patient. Beautiful home. So well equiped and comfortable. Fantastic view. Backing up the driveway made it an easy unload and exit! We left the roadside porch lights on so we could find it on our return trips! Thank you Shawn for sharing your blessings!

Great views - Quiet Getaway
My hushand and I really enjoyed our stay. This is a beautiful mountain home with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. The location is far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet but close enough to Cherokee and Maggie Valley that we could get their quickly. There are a number of hikes and waterfalls a short distance away. Coming back for a soak in the hot tub after a hike was a big bonus. The kitchen was well equiped. I recommend this mountain home for your next getaway.

Great respite.
It was wonderful to get a break from the summer heat. Cabin was perfect. It had everything we needed. Our teenagers loved the pool table and darts. Each morning we enjoyed our coffee on the deck watching the valley below. Regarding the road to the cabin, it's doable without 4x4. But the last 1/10 of mile was much easier with it. I've already recommended this location to several friends.

The cabin was better than we even expected and Shawn made the experience so relaxing & enjoyable! The drive to the cabin was a little tricky, but my brother was able to make it up there in a Toyota camry, so not too terrible. Definitely will keep this cabin on the short list next time we visit the area!

Refreshing Serenity
Our brief stay at the Mile High Cabin was exactly as expected; peaceful, serene, and rejuvenating. The road in is accurately described, steep, and gravel, much like other roads we have taken to more remote cabins. Backing up the driveway was our best bet with an oversized SUV (Chevy Suburban), as the turn radius wasn't agreeable with the steep incline on the driveway. Things worked out fine in the end and the result was pure joy. The view is absolutely gorgeous, with the most amazing sunrises and sunsets. The cabin was well equipped and clean. Shawn, the owner, was super responsive and professional. My only regret is I didn't look for the waterfall and did not remember to sign the guest book! We loved everyday and really appreciate being able to stay at this beautiful home. We were a family of six with a three year old through a 17 year old celebrating this birthday and this cabin was a great fit for us all. Thank you!

Cool cabin.
Everything was as it says in description except that you need a 4wd or AWD vehicle no matter what time of year. Our small non 4wd SUV wasn't able to make it up the hill. Luckily one of us had a 4wd suv and was able to shuttle us and our luggage up to the cabin. The cabin was very clean and had a very nice layout for a big group with all of the bedrooms and bathrooms on separate floors. The hot tub was very nice and clean and the place was stocked with more firewood than we could hope to burn. It wasn't a huge deal but the cabin has a tiny kind of junk hot water heater that would run out of hot water fairly quickly and was incredibly noisy. This wasn't a huge deal and we all tried to stay positive but it really was pretty annoying and would regularly kill the serene mood anytime someone turned on water or flushed the toilet. Overall though it's a cool space that is close to a lot of neat things and secluded. I would happily stay here again.

It has been making a noise and I will be calling my plumber to check out the noise. Give us a shout next time you are in town. We would gladly rent to you guys again.

Fun family retreat
The house is clean, well equipped, and has all the amenities for a multi-generational vacation. Shawn was readily available to answer any and all questions. The only con was the nail biting drive up the steep, gravel road to the house but we were forewarned by the owner (& the reviews!). We had a lovely week.

The road leading to,I underestimated. I did not see where 4x4 was needed and we rented the place for a Motorcycle weekend. Also the door on the bathroom upstairs isn’t installed properly and we had some trouble w that. Not having a/c was not an issue as the temp was a crisp 69 or less at night in July. And the direct tv guy never showed up to fix the box in game room as we were told. There were no major problems at all other than my oversight about the road. Definitely need 4x4 as it has about a 13 degree grade on loose gravel. I would definitely rent listing again. The view is amazing, the layout beautiful and the seclusion so peaceful!

Desean thanks for your review. Yes the barn door was installed on the upstairs bathroom right before you checked in. Unfortunately the bolts were too short to allow the door to slide over the existing trim work. My contractor installed the new bolts after you checked out and it is now working. The cable box also went out in the rec room before you got there and I had trouble getting a service guy there, but again they finally came the day after you checked out and met my cleaning lady and the tv and box are working great in the rec room. The road is dirt gravel all the way to the cabin. I tell people in spring and summer to drive an SUV or an all wheel drive vehicle. After November 1 we can get some snow and that is when I tell people 4 wheel drive. Some folks have gone up with a minivan or a car though. Lol

Serenity on the Side of a Mountain
This property was exactly what we were looking for. It is secluded, private, quiet, wooded and designed for peace and relaxation. But, close enough to retail establishments and recreation. The casino and Publix are a twenty-five minute drive away. Hiking and fishing just down the road. The road from the highway to the cabin is unimproved. That means gravel and dirt. It is steep with sharp, hairpin curves. Those of us who like challenging roads will find this experience satisfying. For those that do not, hang on and enjoy the scenery. Our friends drove their Mercedes convertible to the cabin without problems. The cabin was clean, equipped as advertised and very comfortable. If it fits our plans we will be back.

Perfect place to unwind after a few busy days in the Smokeys!
We had the most amazing time at the cabin. The view was gorgeous and even with it being cloudy and rainy one day, it was very exciting to wake up literally in the clouds. The hot tub was relaxing and we had everything we needed in the cabin. The whole family had fun on the Nintendo Switch and playing "balls" - the kid version of pool when you don't trust your kiddos with a pool stick. The drive up is a bit tricky, but in an all wheel drive sedan, we were fine going slow. Any questions we text Shawn with, he was really quick to respond. It was a great way to end our weeks vacation in the mountains.

Quiet and cozy
The cabin is located in the mountains and very quiet. The floor plan is suited for multiple families or families with small kids, as bedrooms are located at separate floor levels, offering some privacy. My reminder to future renters is that 4wd or awd vehicle is a must. We came in our minivan and we had to back up to climb a steep slope just ahead of the property. In hindsight, any suv should have no problem.

Yes an SUV is required and as we spoke before your and stay I did explain that along with the email I send each guest that says SUV is required. Actually 4-wheel drive is required from November-December. I close the cabin after Christmas as January-mid March there is too much snow and ice. Other people still try to rent during this time and I refuse to put people wanting a relaxing vacation in that situation. You picked a beautiful time of the year and come back anytime you and your family are always welcome.

We had a fantastic time at this cabin way up in the mountains! The owner was very responsive and helpful for every inquiry, and gave an accurate description of the property. Everything was in working order and the cabin was quite clean, which my wife was very happy about. The drive up is definitely no joke, but was completely fine. (Would like to mention that the wifi is a hotspot from cell towers, which did effect my children's ability to do schoolwork; but we muddled through.) Great place if you are looking for tranquility!

Beautiful location
We loved this property. The house was perfect for what we needed. There were 8 of us traveling together (4 adults and 4 teens). The teens took over the downstairs and were so happy to have their own "space" with a pool table and darts to keep them occupied. The home had everything we needed and the views were marvelous. The owner is really responsive and very helpful with things to do/see in the area. We are all big water drinkers and debated picking up bottled water and we are so glad we didn't. The water from the faucet was fantastic! The one downside to this location is the drive up. It's no joke. The first .25/.50 mile of the road up to the house is paved. The rest is gravel and not in great shape (no fault of anyone's other than Mother Nature). When they put in that 4x4 is required they aren't kidding. When the road was dry it was fine but when it snowed about 1-2 inches it became a scary drive down/up. We all laughed about it later and it certainly didn't stop us from enjoying Maggie Valley, skiing and just being there.

Yearly Thanksgiving trip
The actual cabin looked much better than the picture. It was very clean except the trash hadn't been taken away on the deck and the grill had not been cleaned. However, I texted the owner and he promptly replied that the cleaning lady would come by tomorrow and she did. She was very pleasant. We had a great time doing puzzles, crafts and watching holiday movies. The cabin is really pretty inside and cozy. The view was amazing at dusk, great pictures. My major concern was the road getting to the cabin, it is scary and narrow. Yes, it says 4 wheel drive required but that doesn't begin to explain the severity of the dirt road and driveway turn. We rent a cabin every year in Maggie Valley and Waynesville for the last 13 years, I am used getting to cabins in the mountains but this is another level. Getting into the driveway was horrible every time we went out, especially in a large car or truck. My husband, thank God was with us or I wouldn't have made it up the drive. Aside from that major issue we really needed more pots and pans in the kitchen. Our stay was wonderful but the road did affect our experience.

Lovely mountain getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Mile High Cabin! The house was large, clean, and had something for everyone. We enjoyed sitting on the porch, hanging out in the hot tub, and playing billiards. The location was great for exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway and Great Smokys National Park. The only thing we didn't expect was that the wifi was really a hotspot (so don't come here expecting to do much online work), but we were thoroughly entertained by everything else and it didn't bother us much. Also, you definitely need four wheel drive to make it up there.

Beautiful Mountain Location
We really enjoyed the peace and serenity of this cabin. It's in a beautiful location and it was the perfect spot for us to literally "get away" from everything else. Close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and not far from the National Park. The cabin has everything you need for a relaxing stay and some fun things to do in the cabin for rainy days. Thanks!

This is a beautiful getaway home with everything you would need plus extras. It is up the mountain and the drive to any civilization will take you 15-20 mins down a steep and rocky road. If you are up for that then go for it. Shawn is extremely nice and helpful should you need anything. We recommend hiking Alum Cave and Waterrock Knob and driving the Blue Ridge. Any other hiking plans will take you a while but these are by foar worth it. The casino is close too. Bring your food and you wont need anything else.

Mile High Cabin
This beautiful cabin was perfect for my family of 5. It was so close to town and many attractions but yet felt so far away from everything. I think we saw 3 vehicles come by the cabin in 4 days. Just what we were looking for. Peace & Quiet!! Shawn was great to work with as well. Very friendly and responsive. He answered all of my texts the week prior to our trip and during our stay within minutes. He provided a hand written map and drawing with landmarks that made finding it a breeze. I would still suggest arriving during the day as it would be difficult to find for the first time at night. We can't wait to go back but for a longer stay next time!!!

Quiet and peaceful
Beautiful Cabin. My whole family loved the Cabin so much. It was so quiet up in the cabin and relaxing. Occasionally you'd hear an atv but overall just the stream. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the porch looking out at the view. My daughter (8 yrs old) loved the switch and played it often. We used the hot tub as much as we could. It was relaxing. Especially at night when the temperature dropped and it got chilly. We had a bond fire at least twice while we were there and roasted marshmallows. It was some quality family time. My dad didn't want to leave. He wanted to buy the house and stay there forever. The dart board game was having trouble keeping score appropriately so we used the chalk board to keep score instead, had a lot of fun. Played a few rounds of pool as well. All the bedrooms were beautiful and the beds comfy. When getting the cabin I didn't see that there was no ac in the house, but luckily it was cool at night so it wasn't bad with the windows open. Getting up the mountain the first time was a little scary especially in this one spot thats a little uneven and messed up. However it was much easier the more we drove up and down. Soco falls was Definitely worth the hike near the cabin. So beautiful. Everyone was so friendly at all the shops and the brewery near by was great with a beautiful view of the stream next to it. I recommend Joey's breakfast restaurant. We highly recommend this cabin. It was exactly what my family needed. A quiet getaway to relax and let the world disappear for a while.

Property was as advertised! Great communication with Shawn before visit. Only thing that could have been better was the view. Only a 30-40 yard opening to see the mountain range. If the trees could be trimmed I'm sure the view would be breathtaking.

Tranquillity among the Treetops🐾
We had a wonderful stay here in Maggie Valley. The cabin was everything we expected and more! Very clean, comfortable and adorable. Shawn was a great host and easy to get ahold of with any questions. The road is an adventure for sure, the neighbors were also friendly when we ran into them on the drive to the top. Hot Tub was a nice way to start or end the day. Due to Covid we didn’t venture out as much, but were happy to do puzzles, play pool, darts and cooked in entire trip. We drove to a Cataloochee and saw the Elk, drove through Park a couple times and Cades Cove. Played Putt Putt in Maggie Valley, and hiked Andrews Bald. Highly recommend this listing and Shawn, hope we can return one day!

Review
Very nice place with lots of room. We had an issue with two of the fans not working and there is NO A/C. It was early August and felt ok at night but was not enjoyable to be in during the day. If you do not have a SUV or bigger then there is very little chance you will get your vehicle all the way up to the location of the house. It is about 2 miles I assume at least of just rutted out gravel and dirt. The owner is very welcoming and will make sure he does what he can to help out. He did get us a drivers number but he is pretty sketch and ended up only picking us up one time even when we tried to call an hour or more ahead of time.

Not what we expected
The house is difficult to find and difficult to get to. Although the conditions were dry, one member of our party could not make it up the hill and slid into a ditch. She had to call a wrecker to get pulled out. The house is nice but lacked enough towels and tableware for our party of seven. The kitchen lacked any sponges or scrubbers to properly wash dishes. We found many dirty eating and cooking utensils and had to wash before we could cook. The oven was a nasty mess and we ran the cleaning cycle before we cooked. Finally be prepared to stay on the mountain for your whole visit. The nearest grocery store is over 10 miles away and the return trip requires the treacherous drive up the mountain!

Sara, I'm sorry you did not see my cabin up to your standards. Your sister said that it was a wonderful stay and she had a great time. I gave you an awesome price during the Eclipse. I was there just after you and extra towels and linens were in the bottom closet. The person before you did make a mess overcooking something in the oven and I cleaned it completely. I cleaned up the broken wine glass that was dropped at the front entrance. You obviously had a great time at some point. I knew of no other people coming up to visit you, but my site does say 4-wheel drive required and I expressed this to you all. I found out later that your visitor came up in a car. You did rent an upscale cabin in the mountains and not a room at a room at a 5 star hotel with a store right down the street.

Beautiful cabin with great views!
My family and I truly enjoyed the cabin! The location was perfect, right off the Blue Ridge Parkway and next to amazing waterfalls and hiking spots. The cabin was new with comfortable beds, beautiful views and perfect weather at a higher elevation. We especially enjoyed watching the rain from the hot tub, the sunrises and sunsets, and fun times around the pool table. It was perfect for our family. Thanks again for your hospitality!
