"One of the top resorts we've ever visited"
Likuliku is simply fabulous and we would recommend it without hesitation. We've stayed at resorts in Malaysia (Four Seasons Langkawi) and resorts in Europe and the Middle East (eg. Anantara), and this matched or exceeded anywhere we've stayed. Coming from the US, we hadn't considered Fiji previously, but a friend strongly recommended it and we were very pleased! As an aside, one immediate benefit of choosing Fiji that we had not anticipated was the ability to adjust to jet lag, as in both directions you leave late evening and arrive early/mid-morning. Overall: - Wonderful setting and facilities! Split our time between Overwater and Deluxe Beachfront. Both have benefits, Overwater is simply awesome (big plus: no mosquitoes!) while Deluxe BF offers a bit more privacy, slightly bigger room, and private plunge pool is great! - Food was terrific, each and every meal. All food is included in room price, which we appreciated. - Snorkeling was beautiful, plenty of other water activities (some included, some extra) So, what differentiates Likuliku, as you can certainly find equally beautiful settings and places with good food and activities. For us it was the staff. This is not a place where the staff are stuffy, where they are expected to serve and then hide. They get to be themselves, and that provides a more relaxed, enjoyable environment. They are allowed to joke around with guests, while still providing great, thoughtful service. As a result, Likuliku has character.

"Paradise! "
Tokoriki Island Hotel has so much to offer but the stand out feature (other than the amazing view) is the staff - I have never been experienced that kind of hospitality or treatment. From the first foot you step onto the island you are being greeted and welcomed with singing. The food is wonderful - the menu changes daily so there is a lot of variety If you can afford to spend a bit extra, I would definitely recommend the sunset villa - the private plunge pool and day bed are amazing!

"Perfect hotel to relax."
It was a true holiday, so peaceful and relaxing. The staff treated us like family, true to their welcoming speech. We loved the fact that there was no television, no radio, no cars just the singing and guitar playing of the staff with their fantastic voices. The food and presentation was first class. We were spoiled by the staff with a wonderful birthday and anniversary celebration by the pool, which we will never forget.

"A stunning Island retreat"
Matamanoa Island is a stunning location for a relaxed holiday away. Situated in the middle of a reef, the photos we had looked up prior to visiting do not do it justice. We spent just under a week on the island and were welcomed into the resort like family. Most of the staff come from a nearby island village so it feels like you are fully welcomed into their community, whilst having more than enough space to do your own thing. We spend a bit of time with the Deep Blue watersports team who are fantastic if you're into that kind of activity. It was the first time I had SCUBA dived and the reef was full of brightly coloured fish and coral (despite the storms earlier in the year). I had read a lot of reviews before getting to the island about the food - a few of which were not great. It is not Michelin Star quality if that's what you're looking for - however there was a really good variety of delicious meals. Perfect for lunch and dinner after long stints spent by the pool or beach! Overall it was a great experience and we'll definitely be heading back.

"Lived up to and exceeded expectations"
We had a truly relaxing stay at Musket Cove. The staff are laid back but attentive, they let you do your own thing, but as soon as you have a question or want something in particular they are quick and attentive and always with that famous Fiji smile. We didn't get sick at all, and the room came with daily fresh bottled Fiji water and free aeroguard. It looks like they are also actively controlling the mosquito population with fumigation etc, we didn't notice a single mosquito while we were there, nor were there many flies etc. There were lots of free activities to enjoy and the hotel was quiet if you wanted it, or you could head down to Dick's Place and enjoy the free music performances and tropical vibe near the bar. The pool closes at 7pm which isn't bad but on some hot nights it would have been nice to swim later. The room we stayed in had some great ceiling fans and an air conditioner which we didn't need to use apart from one really hot night.

"Wow! Beautiful, professional, friendly!"
My wife and I celebrated our two-year wedding anniversary at Tadrai Island Resort and we feel it was an absolutely perfect choice! They greeted us when we arrived with cheering as if we were celebrities. From the time we arrived until the time we left, it was clear to me that the only goal of the staff was to make our stay as perfect as possible. This is a very quiet and private resort with only a handful of couples checked in at any given time. So the staff goes out of their way to make sure that we as guests are always taken care of. We could ask for drinks and appetizers and they would hand deliver it to us in our private plunge pools. They decorated a fancy dinner for us on our anniversary night complete with a serenade from the staff singing to us! It was very romantic! On another day, we had lunch and private snorkeling on a beautiful sandy island a little ways from the resort. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. If you like, the gourmet lunch and dinners are served chef-choice style based on what foods you indicate to them that you like. Basically, they take care of EVERYTHING and all you have to do is tell them what you'd like to do! The phrase of the day was "Relax, you're on Fiji time." We have never in the past received such world class treatment. We didn't want to leave. The activities director, meals and housekeeping staff, thank you for a unique and unforgettable experience!

Pocket Guide: Malolo Island Mamanuca Islands Independent Hotels

A group of small islands offshore from Nadi, the Mamanucas are ringed by sandy beaches, turquoise to pastel green waters, and coral reefs. Access is a quick hop from Nadi via boat or plane transfer, and accommodation options range from budget to luxury, and bures (traditional thatch-roof huts) through to exclusive beachfront villas. Scuba diving and snorkelling in this region comes highly recommended.
