Don’t book!!! horrible experience, fraud!!!! attention!!!!!!
Upon booking, the host and Expedia failed to mention anywhere on the website that check-in would be impossible after 9:00 PM! The only information provided was a vague suggestion to contact the host in advance if planning a check-in after 8:00 PM. This lack of clarity resulted in a nightmare situation when my bags were stolen, and I found myself stuck at the Venice police station with no way to make it to Milan before 8 PM. So I texted the host at 4:15 PM. But he didn’t write back. I got a little panicked.
To make matters worse, when I finally got hold onto the host at 6:30 PM, he informed me of an additional charge for check-in between 8 to 9 PM and an outright refusal of any check-in after 9 o’clock. This shocking lack of transparency became the host's justification for denying a refund, leaving me stranded and furious.
Expedia's initial lack of intervention in this matter was disappointing, forcing me to deal with their unhelpful customer service upon my return to New York. The first agent I spoke to was uncooperative, repeatedly citing the nonrefundable room policy and interrupting me when I tried to reason with the host on a three-party call arranged by Expedia. It wasn't until I demanded to speak with a supervisor, after raising my voice in frustration, that I finally secured a refund from Expedia.
