Eagle Harbor's House on the Hill

The House on the Hill is perfect for families looking for a peaceful place to relax in Eagle Harbor, Michigan.The House on the Hill is one of very few year-round cabin rentals in the area. The cottage, perched high on the lighthouse ridge overlooking the harbor, is only a short walk to the beach. Step onto the front porch and soak in the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and sparkling harbor waters.

HOUSE ON THE HILL
A great-room designed, private cottage including one bedroom with a queen bed, a open living area, loft bedroom, brand new - fully equipped kitchen, walk-in-close/bathroom, and covered front porch with fantastic views. This cottage is ideal for a family with children that can safely climb a ladder - kids love the loft! No pets please.

Winter
Downhill Skiing - Mt Bohemia, a short 15 minute drive, has the longest runs with the highest vertical and deepest powder in the Midwest. Amazing skiing!
Cross Country Skiing - Ski right out your door to the trail system located in the backwoods of Eagle Harbor.
Snowmobiling - The Keweenaw Peninsula is known for its extensive and well-maintained snowmobiling trails.
Spring
Fishing - Whether you are a lake or a stream fisherman, your options are minutes away from the cottage. The fishing opportunities are abundant in the area.

Swimming, biking, hiking, star-gazing, berry picking... the adventures are unlimited.
Mountain Biking - The Copper Harbor Trails system provides over 32 miles of epic singletrack riding options including downhill tracks, flow trails, traditional cross country, and technically featured trails. Amazing biking!
Fall
Fall Colors - USA Today has reported the Keweenaw is one of the best places in the United States to see fall colors. Fall colors are best late September thru mid-October. Sit on the cottage porch and enjoy the colors.

Historical Adventures
Keweenaw National Historic Park - Copper has shaped the people and places on the Keweenaw Peninsula for thousands of years. In the 1840s, the first mineral mining rush in the US took place here. Although the mines have since closed, the history lives on. Visit website:
Eagle Harbor Lighthouse - Built in 1851 to provide navigational assistance for the increased traffic on Lake Superior due to the copper boom in the area. The lighthouse provides guided tours May-September.

What a great way to enjoy the Copper Country!
What a comfortable home to get to spend time in. The modern kitchen and updated bathroom (thanks for a shower stall, so much easier to use!) contrasted nicely with the rustic decor. The bed was super comfortable, too. I love this location and can't wait to reserve it again.

Cozy cabin
A small but cozy cabin that suited our needs for recovery after long days of work on our friend's log home just east of Eagle Harbor. We liked the open floorplan and modern kitchen. We felt like we had the town to ourselves in late April.

The other reviews are accurate. Clean, well-appointed, convenient, spacious, and comfortable. Rodney responds immediately and is very helpful. Would definitely stay here again. FYI the switch for the counter/sink lights are on the back of the island…took us awhile to find them! That is not a complaint, just a tip. You will love this place.

A Quiet, Relaxing Place
This was my second stay at this cottage; I love Eagle Harbor! Plenty of space, *awesome* kitchen, and natural light / fresh air from lots of windows. The heated floors were really nice for the colder evenings. Internet was slightly less stable than last year, but very functional overall. I was able to use WiFi calling for cellular needs, and HD video streaming was available most of the time. Also, Rodney is wonderful to work with if you have any issues at all. He responds very quickly and is friendly and easy to talk to. Highly recommended!

Delightful kittle cabin
This cabin is a cute little property we stumbled upon in our search for a little family getaway. The location is perfect for exploring different parts of the Keweenaw. From photos/memorabilia it appears its been in the family a long time and tastefully update over the years. We will definitely stay here again if its available for future trips.

Another Wonderful Trip
Great location, fabulous property...what more could you ask for? I have never been to Eagle Harbor so early in the year and I was pleasantly surprised by the attitudes of the local deer who made us feel like they were the rightful citizens of the village and we humans were just the insignificant intruders. Lol. But honestly, it was a great experience. Cabin is well-stocked with essentials, just BYOF (food). It was nice that the Eagle Harbor Inn was operational while we were there this time around. We normally get provisions in Houghton/Hancock or at the local Pat's in Calumet, but the second night there neither of us felt like cooking so the Inn was what we decided on. The pizza there was something to write home about (I am partial to the Lobster Pizza...YUM). The House on the Hill is has become somewhat of my "sweet spot" in these past years, and as always, we cannot wait to return.

The cottage has a great kitchen and ample space. Views of harbor and Gichigami are spectacular. The walk to Eagle Harbor Inn for Friday fish was fun too! Thanks Rodney!

Lovely beautiful space
Well, the Wi-Fi connection wasn’t the greatest, but I could let that go with all the amazing benefits of this place. So much light, beautiful windows, beautiful view, and nice open layout.

Winter Getaway Overlooking the Harbor
Clean, quaint cabin overlooking eagle harbor. Nice quiet getaway and close to skiing (~25 min to Mt Bohemia). Perfect place to watch the sunset nearby.

Cozy cabin retreat
We had a cozy stay along the harbor, snugly tucked under several white pines. The cabin was clean, spacious and generously stocked with everything you would need for a relaxing Keweenaw getaway. We look forward to returning soon.

Great Cabin, Great Location
This was my second stay at this cabin in Eagle Harbor. Really a cozy little town, walking distance from the lighthouse and the beach. The kitchen is stocked with everything you will need. The bed is comfortable. Nice view of the the bay from the dining table. ATT doesn't have a signal; the Verizon VOIP is good for phone calls and texts, but I couldn't stream any videos, so bring your own already downloaded to tablet.

Another Wonderful Trip
This is our second time staying at the House on the Hill and we were just as happy as the first time. This time we also rented the Hilltop Cottage (both managed by Rodney) which is right across the driveway as we were in a group of 6 and it was ideal. The house is stocked with literally everything you can think of that you might not have thought of when you were packing. The first time we came it was in April, and this it was noticeably more "buggy". We anticipated it and brought our own bugs spray, but the house also has a variety of repellents in case you forgot yours, or what you brought was not enough. Beautiful views from the front porch, and we several hummingbirds visit where we sat, which was awesome as we do not see many at home. This time, the Agate Gift Shop (open seasonally) was in operation and it was right down the hill from the property so it was hard to stay out of there. So many unique gifts jewelry, and handmade soaps. While staying in Eagle Harbor, we took day trips to Calumet, Freda, Gay, Copper Harbor, and even ventured to Ontonagon one day to see the Porkies. The most memorable hike we took was at the Cliff Mines. We did not find the old historic cemetery we were looking for, but the adventure was awesome nonetheless. SO MUCH TO DO all within about a 20 minute drive from the house location. We took these day trips as we came with teenagers and other family members who have never been to the UP, but if you're not privy to extra traveling, you will be just as happy relaxing at the cabin because there is a lot to see right in front of you. We are already planning a return trip. Rodney so accommodating and is a great communicator. This is one of the best places we have ever stayed. Highly reasonable rates for what is included and highly recommended.

Wonderful and cozy stay, 20 min drive to Mt. Bohemia
Rodney was wonderful to work with. Quaint and comfortable stay at the cottage/house. Radiant heat floor was wonderful, which melted and dried tracked in snow from our 20 minute daily excursion to Mount Bohemia. Eagle Harbor Inn food did not disappoint night after night. A block away from the Eagle Harbor lighthouse. Good water pressure and shower/bathroom amenities. Towels could use replacing but many were provided. Location is prime year round. Highly recommended. If we venture back up this far North, this is likely the place we’ll stay. Comfortably sleeps 3 but can accommodate 5-6 with pull out bed couch. Fireplace was also a great addition.

Fall color adventure
Lovely, cozy cabin with everything we needed and more. Perfect location to take in all the sights we wanted to see. Beautiful sand harbor beach and lighthouse just steps away. The colors and scenery were amazing.
