The View

5 star stay!
We totally enjoyed our stay in Dales rivah house. The view was incredibly amazing! I felt like we in a boat on the water. Dales house was clean and he is detailed oriented. He thought of everything from a well stocked kitchen to games for the kids as well as clean bath towels, sheets, etc. My grandson enjoyed beating us in foosball..😉. We enjoyed exploring and hiking the parks. Dale was really great at responding to my questions. We truly had the best Thanksgiving with our family. There is no doubt we would stay there again!

A great weekend
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Dale was great at communicating about the property. The views are incredible and there is a nice beach within 5 minutes walk where my son and I enjoyed looking for shark teeth and other fossils. We would definitely return and recommend to others looking for a quiet escape by the water.

Loved Staying at Rivah House!
If you are planning a visit to the Northern Neck of Virginia, do yourself a favor and book Rivah House for your stay. It's a great place, and just a short drive to a lot of places to see and things to do. The views of the Potomac from the upper and lower levels were amazing. One evening we were even able to see the Milky Way when sitting out on the upper deck. The house was spotlessly clean, and well furnished/decorated with a beachy feel. The host was great; very responsive and focused on making sure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay.

Wonderful Getway!
My husband, son, and I just spent a long weekend at Dale's wonderful home. The pictures do not do the view justice! The house was clean and had everything we needed. The binder the owners left with information and recommendations was a wonderful touch. The bottom porch has a rain guard installed which allowed us to remain dry but watch the first thunderstorm of the deason roll through. Rocking on the bench swing, having coffee and watching the sun come up was pure relaxation! Literally the only thing that would make staying here better would be the ability to fish off the dock (off-limits for insurance reasons, which is absolutely understandable). As some other reviews mentioned, everything is at least a 15-20 minute drive; but being away from it all can be a good thing! The community beach, aptly named Shark Tooth Beach, is a quick walk down the road. Maybe the big storm the day we arrived stirred up the sand a bunch, but we found more than 50 sharks teeth in our few days there! I've never seen anything like it. There is access to a lake as well, but we didn't make it there or to the playground. Dale was super responsive to any message sent. All in all a very relaxing wonderful weekend. Would absolutely stay here again. Thank you Dale!

Accurate VRBO Description of the Property
Great, relaxing view of the Potomac River. The house is well maintained. There are plenty of amenities in the house. Great to have the option of bringing our own bedding. More listings should offer this option. The owner's instructions were detailed and clearly written, and kept in an organized binder on the coffee table.

Incredible River View
We really enjoyed our stay and Dale's hospitality. We stayed on a very cold and windy January weekend but still had a great time and enjoyed the relaxing view of the river. The kids had a great time exploring the house, playing hide and seek and foosball. The adults enjoyed short walks to the beach and lake. There is a playground nearby in Westmoreland State Park too. The house was very clean and had all the basic items and supplies we needed to enjoy our stay.

Amazing views!
We were in town for a family wedding and this property was perfect for our weekend away. The property was clean, roomy and had amazing water views! Dale checked in with us several times and we will look into staying here again when our family has a reunion.

Excellent!! View is gorgeous-wall of windows overlooking river on both floors. Two wrap around decks. One bedroom w Queen & bath upstairs, 2nd bathroom upstairs. 2 bedrooms downstairs one queen, other 2 twins with 2 trundle beds, shared bathroom. Beds/rooms/bathrooms all clean & comfortable. Kitchen upstairs. Six guest limit on property. Beach access a 5 min easy walk to shark beach (some parking, picnic tables). Property positioned up high with split fence at edge of property before hill. Very quiet, safe neighborhood. Some distance to store, about 25 min to art of coffee and Angelo’s pizza-both excellent as well. New beautiful Catholic Church in town. Dale, the host, is a great communicator and very helpful. Highly recommend and would like to return soon!!

A Sweet Peaceful Getaway
This property was exactly what we wanted. The view alone was amazing. Seems isolated, but in a really nice quiet neighborhood. Because of the time of year and the weather, enjoying the deck was not possible, but you can experience the river view from inside. The host has thought of everything ... provided local info on places to go and see, as well as restaurant suggestions. Rules for the property and anything you would need to know was in a notebook placed in plain sight. The furnishings are plenty comfortable, kitchen is well equipped. This getaway did not disappoint!!

Hidden Gem!
Absolutely wonderful! The photographs do not do the views justice. A very roomy home with spectacular views. A real sense of privacy. Shark tooth beach is just around the corner and was so much fun. Without a doubt you will enjoy this home. Dale was a fantastic host. I hope to return again soon.

Great Location on the Lake
The property is located on the lake. We were able to enjoy the beautiful sunsets every day. The house was very comfortable for the 5 of us. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, cleaning supplies etc. The host easily available if we needed anything. I do have some suggestions. A few extra seating on the deck and the living room would help for a party of 5 - 6 people. Also the temperature on the lower level needs to be adjusted. It was very cold. We had a great time and would highly recommend this house.

Great house - exactly as described !
The 'Rivah House' was exactly as described in the listing. It was very clean and nicely decorated. It had all the conveniences we could want including 3 full bathrooms. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept great! The river views are just gorgeous. This was a perfect get-away and Dale was very helpful and sent helpful information to us each day. Would highly recommend !

Great Property!
The place was exceptionally clean and very comfortable. We settled in quickly. Very relaxing stay with an incredible view. Montross proper was only about 10-15 min. away. We would highly recommend going to Angelo’s and getting a pizza, one of the best we’ve ever had. We hope to go back soon.

What a view!
We had a wonderful stay at the "Rivah House"! Five days of relaxation and amazing views. Pictures don't do i the view justice. The house had everything we needed and was immaculately clean. The little town of Montross is a short drive away and was decorated for Christmas. The owner Dale was delightful to communicate with and made everything easy. We will definitely be renting here again... 10/10 would recommend!

Perfect Family River Front Getaway
Our week long stay was perfect. Every year our family stays at our cottage in Stratford Harbor. As the children grow into adulthood, our family grows in number and we find we needed extra sleeping space. Finding The Rivah House was the best gift 2020 has given us! The close proximity to the beach and our family’s house sold us! While the photos give a good idea of the house and amenities, the real thing was even better. Super clean, well stocked, fun decor, comfy furnishings. Dale covered all the bases, even supplying us with morning coffee! He was a helpful, friendly host & readily available. We will definitely keep the Rivah House at the top of our list of favorites on VRBO. Thanks for a wonderful week!

Amazing views!!
The house was clean, and very comfortable! The kitchen is very nice and it had everything we needed for family meals! We loved the view of the river and watching the dolphins, eagles, heron, and all the other wildlife. We had an amazing, relaxing time. The neighborhood was so quite and peaceful. Nice cottage with river in your face .BAM!
Nice place to stay if you looking for river front view. Very comfortable place for6 people. Upper lower decks looking right over river wide Potomac view. Nice neighbor hood also large private lake in middle of neighborhood. Also wide water view boat landing and private beach just down the street. Owners easy to communicate with .

“Rivah” Wonderland
Our stay on the Potomac was lovely. We were in the area for a nonstop wedding weekend and this home was the ideal escape for what little down time we had. The house was clean, nicely appointed and the view spectacular. We woke up every morning to an egret standing proudly on one of the posts in the water straight out the back door. It got better when we realized a bald eagle was fishing the water simulataneously. They both pretty much spent the weekend with us. It was great to sit on the deck to watch them and the various size boats quietly trolling the waters. We also enjoyed having access to the neighborhood Sharktooth Beach despite having limited time to explore it. It’s practically next door. Dale is an awesome host. Communications with him were expedient, kind and concise. The house was ideal and just the right amount of space with thoughtful seafaring decor. Everything was clean and comfortable. The peace and quiet of this humble abode soothed the pace of our too short weekend. Thanks Dale!...for sharing the “rivah” experience. We loved it!

Awesome, quiet getaway
Really enjoyed our stay at the "Rivah House". Dale is a great, proactive host who has put a lot of thought into making his guests comfortable. This is more like a 4 or 5 star hotel than an airbnb. The house is even better than it looks in the photos. The kitchen and bedrooms were very clean and well-appointed. The deck and the BBQ are key. The view is indeed A+. We saw a couple of bald eagles fishing and play-fighting above the Potomac over the course of a Sunday morning. Thanks for a great stay

Marc and his guests were great. They were very respectful towards the property. The also did a wonderful job of cleaning / straightening up my home prior to their departure. I would highly recommend Marc to other hosts, and he is guests are welcome to stay at The Rivah House anytime !!

Absolutely beautiful!
During our stay, we were able to celebrate three birthdays and mothers day. The view took all of our breaths away. It was a great place to enjoy sun, family time, nature, and just overall life. Dale was extremely helpful as well during our stay. Definitely 10/10 recommend for a family get away or ang get away!
