According to the present owner, Benbow married late in life and had no children to fill the five bedroom house. The large attached front porch, with wide, gabled entry bay, extends across the main elevation to the north to encompass a porte-cochere; heavy, battered brick piers support the porch. Both the porch gable and an offset gabled dormer feature rough stucco and applied wooden trim imitative of half-timbering and are lighted by Palladian windows. The main entrance is composed of leaded glass sidelights and multi-paned door. An enormous oak tree shades the front yard (an earlier house was formerly located here); a matching garage stands in the rear yard. (0, SM, LH)

The perfect place to stay when in Mt. Airy!
A beautifully maintained historic home with all the amenities and charming decor. Add to that an inviting front porch, a location within easy walking distance to downtown Airy, a delightful, accommodating and endlessly helpful property manager and you get Perfect. We cannot imagine a better place to stay when visiting Mt. Airy.

Great Stay
Mayberry was a blast. We were visiting family while checking out our wedding venue. The property manager let us know about an event at the amphitheater and we met great plans we’re invited to another event the next night. We had so much fun at 2 live music events with dancing and fellowship like no other. Once we got done it was a pleasure to return to the beautiful house. Thank you so much for the hospitality.

Great Stay
Loved the location. The home was great for us. Close to things but far enough away to enjoy the front porch. Hope to return.
