“There were some lovely touches about the general accommodation such as pretty chandeliers, nice artwork and grand mirrors. We were in room 6 which was advertised as lacking natural light, this was fine, but the decor was so dark and such a dull lightbulb, it made the room feel so dingy. There was no plug point near the mirror, so doing hair was difficult. On the plus side the bed was very comfortable and there was a lovely big fan in the room to help combat the heat. “Staff on check in were really lovely, friendly and helpful. Carried our suitcases upstairs which was much appreciated and provided iron and ironing board within minutes. Room 14 is a safety hazard! Tiny step in to the bathroom which is really easy to miss and I actually had a bad fall when staying. There's also a step down in to the bedroom part of the room, so be really careful if you stay in this room. Someone had pre set an alarm on the TV to 5:45am so if you stay here, make sure to check……

“Registration was cursory. Certainly not rude, just “fill in your details and here’s your key.” No offer of assistance for two seniors to carry suitcases up narrow stairs. No further information offered. Room was adequate. Shower is traditional British style - in a very high narrow tub, very dangerous for seniors in my opinion. Notice in room that no outside food allowed, and may result in an additional charge. Overall good value for money, but more of a two star than a three star hotel. ”

“The staff were all wonderful and helpful . It was 36c+ . The building is an old historic property with newly refurbished bedrooms . A fan was in the room to help with the heat . Small but comfortable with a lovely bathroom. My room faced the front and with the heat I needed my window open . The property is by the traffic lights so if you are traffic averse , ask for a rear room . Breakfast is continental but you can pay extra for a cooked breakfast, but not on Sundays . Room for 3 cars to park……
