I loved the people in this ryokan, just please do something about the smell and windows cleanliness, I understand the property is very traditional but, a little improvement on the general state would be fantastic, the first floor is all impregnated with cigarette smell due to the smoke room, and the upper floors smelled like rust and fish.

Solid property in a great and convenient area. The rooms are quite dated and a little dirty but it's also the cheapest place around, didn't bother us much. Staff was really friendly and the traditional breakfast (paid) was great. They offer a free luggage keep that was super convenient as well.

Not a good traditional Ryokan experience
I was looking forward to staying in a traditional Japanese inn as described in previous reviews and YouTube but was disappointed on all counts. There was no personal greeting or attendant assigned to us, no tea on arrival. Kaiseki dinner was not served in our room. Kaiseki dinner items did not match the description on menu & not great. Both meals were in the dining room. Breakfast choices were either Japanese or Western but had to be ordered before 8pm the night before. Western breakfast was mediocre-no choice of eggs. The takoyaki experience was a joke. We were given an electric griddle,plain batter, frozen shrimp & octopus with directions but no pickled red ginger or green onions provided as described. We cooked our own without help. Kimonos were in room but no directions. Two thin towels per person & charge 300 yen for ice or extra towels. All of the other 6 Japan hotels we stayed in also had a public bath or onsen so no need to stay in a Ryokan like this one for that experience. Don't stay here if you are hoping for a traditional Japanese inn. It's basically a 2 star hotel with futons to sleep on. We stayed extra day(s) for this Ryokan experience. It cost us more than the regular hotels but was my least favorite Japan hotel. One lady on staff was helpful with directions on how to catch the airport bus. Location was good for Dontonburi.

Very reasonable property in the heart of Dotonbori. If you don’t know what that means, then you might prefer a hotel farther away from this central celebratory location. A little run down but clean and convenient. Staff are excellent

The location is great! Close to all the food, train station, overall it’s an OK place to stay, I wish the check out was least 11 am , 10 am is a bit too early. It definitely needs an upgrade, at least with bathrooms, we had a very nice gentleman come to our room and offer to set up the floor mattresses, but had done it already, super easy. I think that it would be helpful to have directions in place on how to set the bedding up. Other than that, an okay place to stay.

Right next to river, Literally just a few minutes from Dotinbori st (running man,etc), Kuromon Market, close to Osaka Castle, close to Namba stataiin, Nipponbashi station Free kimono for pics Very cool traditional room, bed surprisingly comfortable- I actually slept better on this traditional bed vs regular hotel just the day before Staff very attentive Really cool and generous Japanese breakfast

Very traditional Japanese style hotel in the heart of Osaka. Can't beat the location if you are planning on wandering around the busiest part of Osaka. Breakfast was amazing.

The Japanese breakfast was not as good as we had in two other ryokans we stayed at on this visit to Japan. The breakfast room was rather drab and did not seem to reflect the Japanese culture as I expected, though the staff was very attentive, especially a middle age man who recently was a navy retiree. He was quite accommodating and dignified.

Amazing stay
This place was amazing. The service was the best I’ve received at any hotel. Reception was very friendly and they made helpful suggestions for local entertainment and dining. They even went out of their way to help us navigate to our location. It was located in the perfect part of Osaka which made getting to each of our destinations effortless. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone (especially English speakers) and hope to return again one day if I get the opportunity.

Great location, great atmosphere
We only passed through Osaka for one night en-route to Okinawa so wanted to stay in the heart of the city to make the most of it. This ryokan fit the bill perfectly! A ‘traditional’ style hotel with tatami rooms and sleeping on futons, it’s not the most luxurious hotel but definitely has character and comfort and in the best location within short walking distance of all the excitement of Namba and dotonbori. We had breakfast included in the room rate, a traditional Japanese breakfast with their own homemade tofu which was delicious. Staff were great. Would definitely recommend this hotel for the location and atmosphere

My room smelled of cigarettes even though the floor was non smoking. I think it filtered from the other floors. The room was awesome though. It had a fridge and air conditioner, which was nice. I loved the traditional Japanese style room. I used the public bath and that was fantastic. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Overall I really enjoyed my stay.

Very traditionial. Didn't try the breakfast nor the public bath. The room itself was fine. Expect the staff to come over to your room between 6 to 8pm to lay out the bed and bring you stuff to make tea.

Staff were helpful and kind. The rooms were spacious. I do think the property does need to undergo a renovation to freshen up the space. Overall, I enjoyed my time staying there. And for the price, it’s a great value.
