Wonderful Spring Girls Weekend
We came for a girls weekend. The house is beautiful with plenty of comfy seating. Super clean. The view is beautiful and fun to watch all the boaters. We could not get fire pit to work, but this could have been user error. I would caution others that the stairs are a lot! Definitely not for elders and a real workout, but this was clearly stated in description. Otherwise an absolute dream house with plenty of space. The attention to detail and decor (especially in the bathrooms) was appreciated! Thank you!

My stay at rhe anchorage
We had a great time. Kids had a wonderful time fishing and swimming. Only draw back was the 54 steep stairs you had to climb getting too and from your car and the home. Has a senior it was tough. Anyone with a handicap would not be able to do it.

Yes not meant for those that have trouble climbing stairs (as described in the listing). These stairs positions the home on the lake edge (uncommon) with unobstructed views (uncommon) and with a few steps to access the lake (uncommon). Despite the difficulties glad you all had a great time. Happy to see you have booked again for 2024.

Beautiful house on the lake. Only issue is the number of steps down to the house. Otherwise, it is a great house that sleeps eight

If you enjoy climbing stairs and/or walking up and down steep inclines, this is the place for you! Unpacking our car was a blast. The house was spotless with great views of the lake. The lake itself is fantastic for boating, fishing and kayaking. We definitely had a memorable vacation.

Beautiful home-Excellent hosts
We traveled to CT with my parents for the week. Richie and Helen were very gracious. Their home is beautiful. They had everything a family would need on vacation. We needed to attend an event and I asked Richie if they had an iron/ironing board. They did not. Richie was at the door 30 minutes later with the items! The temperature dropped about 30 degrees while we were there. We texted about heat and they responded within minutes and turned on heat. We were very comfortable. My parents are 80 years old. They managed the steps. They thought it was great exercise! Of course the golf cart was available, but my parents opted out of it. We enjoyed the many sites and trails. CT in September is beautiful! This home is a gem.

Summer 22
We rented Anchors Away for 5 weeks this summer - The house is exactly as described. Everything that you need is provided - towels, linens, kitchen supplies, etc….. The views from the deck are gorgeous - Our favorite spot to unwind. We brought our boat and docked it right outside. We have 2 pre teens and a toddler and the home worked great for all. Helen and Richie were great hosts, very helpful and easy to communicate with. We would have stayed longer if we could. Would highly recommend this lake house.

Authentic Lake Candlewood
Great Lake Candlewood experience with plenty of beds baths and most anything you need for a great time on the lake. Super fishing from deep water dock. Trout, perch and bass are abundant. Would recommend.

Just what we needed :)
Helen and Ritchie were an absolute pleasure to work with. Their home was exactly as pictured and described, except that the view of the lake in person was more spectacular than any photo could ever capture. The kids loved the upstairs space, especially with a couch and a desk to make it feel like their own “kid zone”. We enjoyed our stay very much, especially the lake views from the deck every morning and evening and would definitely rent this home again.

Lovely escape, thankful for the last minute availability!
Owners absolutely accommodating and we’re such a help in assisting me to find the place (pay close attention to their detailed instructions re address!!) I would recommend bringing luggage/groceries in via boat (public launches easily accessible) or bring an alpaca along (negotiable pet?) because there are a LOT of stairs. Once settled in I didn’t want to leave!

Beautiful Lake House
We had a wonderful time at Helen and Richie's lake house. The property was exactly like the pictures. The rooms were spacious and the yard and decks had gorgeous views of the water. Helen and Richie were very responsive and considerate hosts. We would definitely love to stay at Anchors Away again.

Nice weekend on the lake
Lovely home located directly on the lake. We had access to the dock and kayaks which was real nice. The place was clean and inviting upon arrival. The beds were super comfortable and the a/c was ice cold. Everything you would need was provided by the homeowners (linens, utensils, grill, etc) and all the light switches were properly marked (which was a nice touch in a strange house.) There is plenty of room in the house and the outdoor space is well thought out to maximize the usable area. The only negatives was the gate house security, which was kind of a hassle, the steep driveway, the boat traffic on this location of the lake is a bit much at times and having eastern exposure limits your sun during the afternoon. Otherwise its a nice place that we enjoyed very much. I would definitely rent again and recommend to friends.

We are glad everyone enjoyed their stay. In regards to boat traffic, yes, our lakefront is not in a “no wake zone”/ or a lake cul-de-sac It is facing an open lake area which is great for boat watching and watching your family water ski right in front our house with grandma watching off the deck.

Perfect Getaway
You couldn’t ask for a nicer location for a peaceful getaway, one packed full of activity or BOTH! The option is yours. You can just relax by the lake, rent jet skis or a boat. We had a great time at this location. The owners are really nice and they are very quick to communicate if you have questions. Location wise, it’s as good as it gets. You are only a short 10min drive to Stop n Shop And whatever else you need for your stay. There is a great breakfast spot on the way as well the Candlewood Cafe. If you wanted to go with 6-8 people, no problem. Plenty of room to sleep and 3 full baths. Then you can cut the cost of the trip down considerably. Highly recommended.
