They need to review some of their requirement
House clean and nicely decorated...beds were cheap..poor mattresses, TV really sucked couldn't watch any of the basketball games.. If we are paying for services...why are we stripping beds and picking up towels and cleaning kitchen and taking out our trash.. ??? Would not recommend this property again

Im glad you thought our house was clean and nicely decorated but I'm truely sorry you didn't enjory your stay and you thought our requests were too much. We do our best to make all our guests stay as enjoyable as possible. We try and keep our fees as cheap as possible for all our guests so yes we do ask a few things to help with that. (We have stayed at other properties before and have been asked to do the same.) We do not ask anyone to clean anything except the dishes you use while you are there. Putting used sheets and towels in laundry baskets and placing the the garbage in the garage bin before you leave just helps us keep the place clean like you mentioned above. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I would like to clarify for future guests. The beds are not cheap, but yes everyone has a different preference so it is hard to find something that everyone loves. Our internet/tv options are limited in the area. We have Spectrum wifi and TV. We also provide a dvd player, some movies, a pool table, games, cards, puzzles and some books for your entertainment.

Nice long weekend!
My husband and I stayed at the property for a long weekend amd really enjoyed it! The house had everything we needed and was very comfortable! We used it as a base to travel to the falls and pictured rocks. Our intention was to snowshoe and found some snow over by the falls since its been a crazy Michigan winter this year. Great house and would stay again!

The Sunshine Shack is our favorite place to stay when we visit the UP. Comfortable and well equipped! Close to restaurants and grocery stores and centrally located (not necessarily close) to our favorite rock hunting beaches on Lake Superior.

Great house
It was a great little house to stay in and use as a home base while we explored the UP for the week. The apple trees in the backyard were a pleasant surprise when we walked the property to help burn some of the kids energy, although I forgot to ask what kind of apple trees they were. We chose this house specifically because most of the things we wanted to see were within an hours drive. Highly recommend to anyone looking to check out the eastern UP.

We had a great stay. It was close to town and places we were going to. There was plenty of room for us and our gear. The shack was neat and clean and had plenty of linens, towels and bedding. We wish we had booked it for a couple additional nights. Phones and wi-fi worked well. Great communication with the hosts. We hope to stay here again on future adventures.

Great location for all the things we wanted to do and had a garage to store our bikes. Really enjoyed the AC on a hot day. Plus access to the washer and dryer was very handy. And we really appreciated how quiet it was at night.

Beautiful vacation home
House was clean and in a great location close to the city for groceries. All of the upper peninsula attractions close by. The yard was beautiful with a great fire pit. Perfecr vacation home for a family getaway. Pool table for the teens, board games and park close by for the younger ones. Wouldnt stay anywhere else in the UP.

Eastern UP quick trip!
This served as a great home base for our 3 adult and 4 kids party. The yard is HUGE and secluded and just what they needed to run around. Clean, plenty of space, and great location for excursions in the area!

Perfect Central UP Location!
The Sunshine Shack was the perfect place for our family! Staying in Newberry, we had no more than 1-2 hours in any direction to see most of the sites in the UP. The home was fully equipped with cooking necessities as well as plenty to do when we where actually there. The owner communicated with us before arriving and thankfully we had no issues during our stay to need to reach out to them during! I would highly recommend this place, especially with the reasonable price!

Great house and central location
A group of ladies got together to explore the Superior shores. We stayed 3 nights. The location was great for a base location to explore near Whitefiish point and Grand Marais. The house is clean, niceley, decorated, and has plenty of kitchen ware/appliances. It was great having some starter wood for the pit as well. Nice quiet street too.

Great stay!
The house was clean and stocked with all utensils and cooking supplies as well as shampoo conditioners and body wash etc. easily slept 7 of us with room to spare! The house was cozy and felt like home. Nice backyard and fire pit and homeowners were gracious enough to supply the firewood we need through our entire stay. We enjoyed our stay and will be back if we stay in the area again! Location of the house was perfect as it’s near the center of everything while still being away from the center of town. Also we had full access to the garage which was great since we were on a motorcycle trip and we’re able to park our bikes inside, was a nice piece of mind. Rich was easy to talk to and was an outstanding host. He gets an easy 5out of 5 stars too

Falls Trip
We were only at the house to basically sleep as we were sightseeing everyday. Close to Tahquamenon Falls, but a bit of a drive from the other falls we decided to check out. Huge backyard that was great for my 1 year old to run around in.

This was my third time staying here. It is always the first place I look up when planning a trip to the UP. I love the location, and the fact that it is a very comfortable house. A great home away from home feeling.

There is wonderful back yard and a little park across the road.
We had a wonderful time. Everything was great. There was a lot of board games and ample room for my kids to run and play. Lots of extra blankets pillows and towels. Our favorite spot was out by the fire pit and the wonderful smelling apple trees! We will definitely come back.

Everything you want
This place is simple, stocked and has everything you want. Comfortably slept 5 adult men for a fishing trip. Plenty of space for cooking, drying gear and attached garage is a plus. Added bonus of a pool table downstairs leaves little to be desired for a guys weekend away.

Snowmobile get away
Great place to stay. Extremely clean and laid out perfectly for a group of 5 for our trip. Basement is set up for organization of gear and equipment, pool table was a plus. Beds were very comfortable. Driveway was cleared and plenty of parking for two truck/trailer combos.Trail access is almost instant. Would highly recommend this location and rental.

Great Spot in the UP

Very clean and centrally located
The house is very basic but extremely clean and fully stocked kitchen to prepare meals. There was even a crockpot and electric griddle. More than enough room for our family to stay. We appreciated the large family room, washer/dryer, big basement with pool table and large outdoors with wood provided for the fire (would suggest adding roasting sticks for hot dogs, etc. since those are not available at nearby stores). Comfy beds and clean linens. The blinds block zero light, so if you/kids like sleeping in a dark room this could be an issue. The house is centrally located in Newberry and was a great spot for us to travel to Pictured Rocks, Tahquemenom Falls, Oswald's Bear Ranch, White Fish Pointe, and other sites. Close to supermarket, gas station and several restaurants off the main street. Just be aware that most stores shut down early (4pm or sooner) on Sunday's. While the house is close to another home on one side (30ft? away) it was very quiet and we enjoyed our stay. I would recommend this house for anyone looking for all the amenities of home and a central location to the UP attractions.

This place was perfect for everything we wanted to do! Quiet neighborhood with great food nearby. Close to the falls, and Oswalds. Only about an hour drive to the big cities like Munising, and manistique. The house was beautiful, and clean. The pool table was a huge hit for evening hangout. Beds were SUPER comfortable!
