Very helpful owner
Our stay was made especially pleasant by the helpfulness and friendliness of the owner. He could not have been better. Because it was an old stone house the availability of electrical outlets for charging phones etc and for appliances was very limited. Perhaps the charm of an old house. The swimming pool was a wonderful attraction on hot days.

Stay in Cete
Cete is a great location for visiting Porto. It is a 30-40 min train journey and 10 min walk to the station. Very reasonable for food although more of a suburbs location than a tourist place - restaurants are traditional, reasonably priced but cafe come restaurants. Our host Afonso was very helpful and available. House was lovely traditional Portuguese - only complaint would be the cooking stove which was quite temperamental and caused the electric fuse switches to flick off. Also not enough electrical plug points but we accepted it was old and traditional and we liked that. Swimming Pool was lovely - cold but nice size. Scenery was lovely from house too. We would recommend this place for a good base for seeing Porto and surrounding areas and relaxing around a pool

Cete villa
Great location for exploring Porto with only a short train journey to the city. Lovely pool area and excellent communication with the host who was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Property would benefit from updating and it would be nice to be provided with more essentials such as bin bags, washing up liquid and tea towels. It is a self catering property. Overall though a very enjoyable stay.

Beautiful and peaceful location
This is a very charming old property which has been lovingly cared for by its owner. Although in the centre of a small village in the vicinity of Porto, it has a beautiful aspect and view over farmland - maize and vines. The pool makes this a perfect family holiday venue. You can walk to a baker and a butcher and fruit shop in the town and the supermarket is not far by car. It also benefits from being within a 40 minute train ride of Porto - which is a magical and architecturally stunning city full of energy. we loved our stay.

Exceded our expectations
Our hosts, Afonso and Manuela, were wonderful, welcoming, and super helpful. The dwelling is a large house on a farm with a vineyard and lemon trees. This serene setting is a delightful 10 minute walk away from the train station for a short 30 - 40 min ride to downtown Porto. We would highly recommend this accommodation, and would love to call it home.

A tranquil, traditional house in the countryside
We enjoyed our stay at Afonso's house. It is a lovely rustic, secluded house just on the edge of Cete. The house met our needs perfectly, being my husband & I our two older daughters & their partner. We really enjoyed the beautiful garden, outside seating & dining areas. The view across the valley was lovely (even the trains passing in the lower valley remind us of home). We really enjoyed using the large swimming pool (a bit chilly but to be expected in October). The garden & pool were so well kept a beautiful place to spend time in. The house is rustic & homey we felt comfortable there. The dining area was huge, plenty of room to enjoy a meal together. We cooked a lot at the house as two of us are chefs & enjoy cooking, we also used the barbecue outside. The house is situated perfectly to catch a train into Porto, which we did on a couple of days. Afonso left recommendations for local restaurants & places to visit in a handbook. Which helped us find a lovely restaurant & a visit to a vineyard about a 15 minute drive away. Afonso & his wife were very patient hosts, we had a disastrous day on arrival with travel plans, delays, air strikes, hire car problems & getting lost. Thank you Afonso for your patience & kindness. To summarise a beautiful house & wonderful host. We had a great stay & thank you Afonso.

Charmant vakantiehuis in prachtige omgeving
Fijn verblijf in een charmant huis tussen de wijnvelden in een mooie en rustige omgeving. Op wandelafstand van het treinstation met goede verbinding. Keuken was voldoende uitgerust. Badkamer in orde. Bedden waren wel wat smal voor 2 personen. Voldoende tuinstoelen in tuin en op terras. Zeer gezellige living op bovenverdieping met terras. Zeer vriendelijke en behulpzame gastheer. Dit vakantieverblijf is een echte aanrader !

A little gem in the Portuguese countryside
My girlfriend and I spent a lovely week in this property in July 2022. A stay here is highly recommended due to the peace, quiet, beautiful views and tranquil surroundings. The temperature hit 37 degrees while we were there and so we very thankful of the good size pool and multiple shady areas in the grounds. The property itself is best described as traditional and rustic, and it all works well. Particularly pleasing (and necessary) was the air conditioning in both downstairs bedrooms. There is a comfortable sitting room, with a terrace on the first floor, but we did not use very much because of the hot weather. Cete, the place where the property is located, is not a tourist town. But the shops there have everything you need including cafes, a small supermarket (a larger one is located in the next town), a butchers and bakers. We would recommend that anyone who stays here does hire a car as it would have helped us massively with our big shop when we first arrived The day to day shopping is a short walk away. The only other thing to mention is that being located in the countryside you will have insects aplenty, which can be annoying occasionally. Fly swatters were provided! :) All in all, a thoughly recommended property if you are looking for an escape from everything.

quiet in nature
A quiet house in the countryside. About 40 minutes from Porto by train. With a sympathetic homeowner who speaks good English. During the corona period, we did not visit as much as usual. That was not so bad, because we had a beautiful garden with swimming pool in a beautiful area.

A perfect family holiday!
We have just returned from a fab fortnight at Afonso’s villa. We are a family of 5 - 2 adults and 3 children aged 6, 8 and 11. The villa is located within vineyards and woodland and the driveway to it has to be the nicest we’ve ever seen. Considering the proximity to a small town - Cete - the villa feels very private and rural. Yet we were minutes (walking) to the town. The kids loved the train line running along the valley behind the house too. There was plenty of space inside the villa, we didn’t even use one bedroom - our 11 year opted to sleep on the sofa bed in the lounge rather than in the basement en-suite bedroom (this room is lovely and has it’s own external door and no internal connection with the rest of the villa). The kitchen is huge and we spent our evenings here playing games at the big table, unless we were BBQing or eating out in Cete. The pool area is stunning and clean, surrounded by grass, hazel trees and hydrangeas. Our children spent a lot of time in the pool! The walk to the train station takes around 10 minutes and is safe to do in the dark - pavements and mostly lit paths. The direct train to Porto stops at the station and takes you straight to the main tourist centre of the city. We also visited Braga and Guimaraes and were very pleasantly surprised by them. Guimaraes in particular is a lovely town. We went to a river beach in Braga too - a first for us but not the last. Further afield we visited Spain - the Cies Islands and Oursense. And our longer drives in Portugal took us to swims in a mountain lake in Geres - complete with inflatabld aqua park - and on a rainy day in Cete we drove as far as Seia to dryer weather and also some fantastic mountain river beaches. We bookended our trip with overnight stays in Porto and Vila Do Conde. Vila has a lovely big beach with lifeguards and again a quaint old town, the Atlantic meant that swimming was cold and also the red flags were flying on one day. We would definitely recommend Afonso’s villa. He was a lovely host - welcoming and available but never intruding.

Casa Do Talhinho - a wonderful haven of peace and tranquility.
Dear Afonso, Just a short note to say thank you for a wonderful 3 weeks at Casa Do Talhinho. The house and the location are beautiful, and we spent many happy relaxing hours either sat by the pool during the day or under the stars at night. We really could not have wished for anything more from our stay in Céte. The location is ideal for either a simple train ride into Porto, or to explore the Douro valley. Arriving back after a day out and entering the grounds of Quinta do Pizào and passing down past the vines to the house will remain a warm and lasting memory. We hope to return next year, and in the meantime we wish you and your family all the very best and thank you once again, Kind Regards Trevor and Karen (from the Netherlands and Northern Ireland)

Bref, on a envie d'y revenir!!
