Coastal Treasure
The property was more remote than we anticipated. If you are looking for a true getaway, this is your spot. The local Elk grocery & mercantile store clerks were wonderful and full of ideas to fill our time. We took a trip to Mendocino and Fort Bragg along the beautiful coast. The house was so cozy, clean & charming. We will for sure return

Very Nice Getaway
We stayed at this property for my milestone birthday. The scenery and ocean sounds are so welcoming. Regional coastline, vineyards and Redwoods are spectacular. The house was plenty spacious, with a well-stocked kitchen and laundry nook. The bed linens and towels were super comfortable, and the fireplace was cozy. I would, however, shorten the front door code. The lock is very particular on how fast/slow you enter the current long code.

Spectacular View
We had a lovely stay at this renovated farmhouse. The place was very cozy, comfortable and clean. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. There is limited closet space and no chest of drawers, but with only two people, we used the second bedroom as our closet. The view from the deck was spectacular where you can see harbor seals and their pups on a sand spit below. We also had a few deer visit in the yard and the place was very private with no nearby neighbors. We'll definitely return. P.S. While our stay was almost perfect, a few things could have made it even better. First clear directions on entering the front door. Vacasa provided an entry code, but neglected to mention that once you enter the code, while the light is blinking to turn the deadbolt key slot to the right. So we needed to call Vacasa and get a code for a manual key. The directions to enter and exit the front door are very clear in the binder inside the home, but that doesn't help when you're trying to get in for the first time. Also, there were no directions on how to work the TV. The manual said to refer to directions left on the mantel and there were none. Took us quite a bit of time to figure it out each time we wanted to turn on the TV. Also, the back deck door is a bit tricky to lock and instructions would be helpful. Lastly, it would have been helpful to have a plastic cutting board and laundry detergent. Next time, we'll bring both.

Simply Beautiful!
This is our third visit to this wonderful cottage by the sea. The views cannot be beaten. The cottage is always clean, and well-appointed with a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend!!

Coastal Elk Gem
We absolutely loved everything about this charming Elk coastal gem. The oceanfront views were phenomenal. Being set outside of town with a scattering of other properties in the area, star gazing at night was also incredible! 5 stars :)

AWFUL EXPERIENCE
The location is not accurately depicted it is on a cliff in a remote area with no cell reception and NOT in the town of Elk. The main source of heat is a gas fireplace that is not working. The electric heaters blow the circuit when plugged in. For the overpriced rate we were expecting so much more. I made over 15 calls to VRBO the customer service is full of lies and no call backs. I will NEVER use VRBO again. Customers beware.

Fantastic Ocean View on Cliff overlooking the Pacific.
The property was great though it was misrepresented as Cottage for 6. The two Bedroom Queen beds were great for 4 people. The sofa bed to sleep 2 might have been ok but there were NO SHEETS for the sofa and an unbelievably HEAVY OVERSIZED Coffee Table took up much of the living room; with the sofa opened there was no place to put the coffee table. We thought of standing it on end but it took 2 men to lift it. Fortunately we discovered the problem before our grandson arrived and asked him to bring a sleeping bag. Leaving the couch closed as a couch, we turned the coffee table to make a "T" to the couch. He slept with his head on the couch and his legs and body on the table. Not comfortable, but neither was the sofa bed because when opened, it was not full size and our grandson was 6'3". The offer table needs to go even without a sofa bed it filled much of the living room.

Had a nice relaxing time...
Thank you to Vacasa for making our booking, stay and prompt communication (thank you Kat!) when we had questions/concerns upon arrival. Appreciated! The property is very clean, private and peaceful, million dollar view looking over the Pacific Ocean from 200 feet above and fully stocked with everything we expected and needed. I think most anyone would really enjoy their stay here. Also, it's only a 20-min drive to Mendocino Village. On an improvement and/or suggestion note, and by no means is this a negative checkmark for this listing, but I'd like to mention it anyhow: both bedroom mattresses are very soft and sinks in the middle (not good for middle-aged backs) and the bed frames squeaks a lot (when changing sleeping positions it's very noticeable and woke each other). The bathroom window doesn't open as the locking handle appears defective (made for a steamy bathroom when showering)... and the front windows and kitchen windows don't have screens. Thus, due to a lot of flies from the field across the highway, we kept them shut as the flies became annoying. Thanks again and we look forward to the next visit! J & K

Nice experience
Amazing view and great beds. But disappointed in the smell of the house and the house was very cold and drafty. Due to the fact it had no central heating and we were only allowed to plug in one wall heater at a time. Also last night a skunk was under house and not able to sleep. We wish we had known it was so remote because made it difficult to get to places and find food before all closed at 4pm. Or were totally shut down for most days.

Solitude At It’s Finest!
Love this little beach cottage. It was just perfect for my husband and I and it’s very quaint. You have plenary of privacy as there are no neighbors close to the cottage. The running deck to the ocean is a treat. It’s a great place to have your morning coffee and your wine in the evening. You have a great view for the sunset and there a a beach below where you can watch the seals. The cottage was spotless and very comfortable. We will definitely be back!

Honeymoon Getaway
Everything about this house was perfect and exactly what we needed for our honeymoon. Waking up to deer having breakfast to sitting on the deck watching the waves at sunset. The location was central for a trip to Ft Bragg one day, finding the lighthouse we could see from the deck and even a casino! The only flaw was the grill, flames coming out of the front but we were able to save the steaks in the oven in the very equipped kitchen. We are already planning a trip next year for our anniversary!! Can't wait to see how much the new garden has grown!

We loved staying here and found it very comfortable. The location is beautiful and was a wonderful place to relax after a day of hiking and exploring the coast. The home is beautiful. The pictures truly reflect the current condition. We enjoyed meeting the "neighbors"; daily drop-ins from the deer and the cows across the road.

The views are what really sell this place. Absolutely stunning views in a relatively secluded part of the coast. Plan ahead for meals, as it’s a 20-30 minute drive into Mendocino/Fort Bragg for takeout or groceries. The only issue we had was that the back door didn’t lock, which made us nervous (as true crime podcast listeners and city dwellers). But all was well and everyone loved our stay. Our only regret is not booking it for a longer period of time.

Not a better view to be found
We spent a lovely week here. Adored seeing the changing skies over the ocean. Loved not having another house in sight. A little slice of heaven. My only complaint was a 10am checkout. 11a would’ve been a wee more comfortable to be able to get the laundry and dishwasher started. In truth we just didn’t want to leave. ;)

We had a super restful time here. The view was amazing the house was tastefully furnished, although looking a little tired. It was a beautiful quiet and secluded location. However, we were disappointed not to have any closet space for putting away our clothes. The closets there were filled with linens and the outdoor furniture cushions of which there were many.

Elk Rock is a gem!
This property is great! It has a farmhouse feel but has been updated where needed. The kitchen is well equipped and the bedrooms are small but so comfortable. The highlight is the deck leading to the cliffs above the ocean. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return!

The pictures of this gorgeous cottage don't do it justice. It is nicely appointed, very private, and cozy. The cottage is spotless upon arrival. We enjoyed watching the deer and rabbits each day, the seals down below in the cove, but the view cannot be topped. The viewing deck is by far our favorite feature. We enjoyed wine, small bites, amazing sunsets. This is our choice for visits to the Mendocino coast.

Autumn Ocean Bliss
Our stay here was amazing and we never wanted to leave. The experience of sitting on the deck over the ocean at our own private cottage was truly a feast for the soul whether at sunset, sunrise, or when taking in all the stars at night. We came across deer and rabbits hanging out in the backyard every time we would come back from being out. We loved the location on the bluffs overlooking a beautiful cove where seals hauled out. We only got to see one sunset due to rain, but it was majestic. The house is furnished with comfortable beds, couches and chairs. The kitchen is well-appointed, the bathroom big, and the dining/living room windows across the back of the house open up the view and bring the outside in. The staff was responsive when we had a problem getting the fireplace up and running. They offered to stop by the next morning, but we were able to get it going and enjoyed its warm presence during our stay. In all, we highly recommend this house.

The house is old but modernized and renovated. Everything was clean and the equipment was very good, everything you need is available. What we missed is storage space for the clothes. The wardrobes in the bedrooms were full of outdoor pillows and extra bedding. There were no hangers and we had to live practically out of the suitcase. But the outdoor area is spectacular. Amazing Place
The privacy was wonderful, no other homes in sight. You literally have your own private wide view of the ocean and sunset. The cottage was very clean, bright and very well appointed in all aspects. The bedding and linens were soft and very comfortable. The deck is one of the best features of this home, truly amazing. This will be our place to stay every time we come to the north coast.
