Swedish Chateau in PT

A unique three story custom home just six miles from downtown Port Townsend. This home sits on five acres at the end of a private road. The grounds are landscaped with a large open field, two fire pits, one with a slow cooker grill for outdoor cooking. There is a wetlands on the property with ducks, heron and a variety of bird life. There is a large private bedroom on the first floor with a king size bed, mid-sized TV and half bath. With a hot tub just outside the back door. The second floor has a living room / dining area, kitchen, bedroom with a TV room with a very large TV and a full bath. There are two decks on the second floor. One overlooking the south yard with a small table and chairs, umbrella and a clean BBQ. The second deck overlooks the wetlands. From the second floor there is a large ladder (very easy to climb) to a large third floor loft. The loft has a library and an area perfect for kids indoor play. There is a queen size mattress for overflow guests or kids and room for one or two blow up mattresses. (As with most loft spaces the sound from the third floor can be heard on the floor below. So this is not for someone who needs privacy.) The kitchen has a Viking range, a Bosch dishwasher and is fully supplied with everything a cook would want or need. The refrigerator is a small, under the counter size, and there is a full size refrigerator/freezer in the first floor carport.

There are chickens and fresh eggs in the front yard and a nice, quiet road for long walks or an early morning stroll with coffee. The neighbors are very friendly and the street is very private. We are 12 minutes drive downtown Port Townsend where you can shop, go whale watching, enjoy a delicious meal, have some wine or walk around taking in the view. Fort Worden and Finnriver Cidery are just minutes away.

Easy Weekend
This was the perfect choice for a quick getaway with friends. Kids slept up in the "attic" area, and there were still 2 separate bedrooms and a TV room with a couch. The living area was perfect for playing our favorite card game, and the kitchen has high quality appliances (we like to cook some on vacay) and all the tools you could need-including a French coffee press. The only "odd" part was the glass door to the only shower bathroom, a little awkward with more than 1 family, but we figured out you could close the whole back area off with the barn doors. Thanks for a great stay!

Home away from home
Wonderful setting, wonderful house, wonderful host. We were in town for a 3 day family wedding and throughly enjoyed having this home as our home base between our weekend events. My only regret was I didn't have more time to explore the beautiful grounds. Jack was a fantastic host, I would hesitate to stay here in the future.

Wonderful home in idyllic setting
My family and I stayed here and really enjoyed the home and the incredible setting nestled among the trees. The home was immaculate and Jack was so helpful and thoughtful. We loved having filtered water and the delicious treats (excellent coffee, farm fresh eggs, local sourdough bread) that jack left for us.

Girl's Weekend
Jack is an amazing host! We were nestled in the woods and woke to the sound of birds and frogs. We were gifted fresh bread and butter, coffee and half and half, and eggs from his chickens. Jack lives nearby just in case you need something but completely respectful of our privacy. We can't wait to come back! Thank you so much, Jack!

The perfect hobbit house
Our 15 year-old granddaughter declared it the perfect hobbit house. Partly because she loved climbing the weird ladder to her bedroom.. If you need to use the last 2 beds, be sure that the sleepers are nimble!

Perfect winter getaway
Our stay began with a warm welcome by Jack to show us around his beautiful home. The chateau is tucked into a quiet woodsy area and there are so many wonderful details inside! We made fantastic meals in the kitchen and stayed cozy by the fire in the living room. The hot tub was also an excellent addition to our evenings. Thanks to Jack for being a terrific host! We would love to stay here again :)

Forest Retreat
The property was exactly as advertised. Everything was clean and well-maintained. We had all the amenities of home. Jack was very solicitous and made sure we were well cared for. The home is perfect for family and friends who want to be together. The stairs and loft ladder gave us plenty of exercise. Plus the secluded roads and woods were great for walking. The front yard is a lovely playground for kids. Port Townsend was an easy 12 minute drive.

Nature-immersed relaxing retreat
Secluded natural setting, but only 15 minutes from the heart of Port Townsend or Chimacum, this unique and charming house was a perfect stay for 2 couples + kids. Well-stocked kitchen, deck with a tree-lined view, toys and books in loft, cozy fireplaces, and hot tub equipped us with a comfortable, easy stay. Jack oriented us to house features at arrival, answered questions as needed, and greeted us at checkout, but we otherwise didn’t see him on the shared property. We are looking forward to a return visit!

Can't Wait to Stay Again
This was our third stay here. And we still love it. We have stayed at a number of places in the PNE and our whole family agrees this is our favorite place to stay. Jack's amazing hospitality and wonderful house make it feel like home. It always feels like we are staying with family. The hot tub was soothing and relaxing and the animal sightings (birds, owl, deer) never disappoint. We can't wait to come again!

Wonderfully Warm Home
Jack and the Swedish Chateau were an absolute jewel of a find in Port Townsend. We were there for the Port Townsend Tour de Lite bike tour (via Cascade Club) and wanted to have a place big enough to accommodate us, my mom, and our three kids so they could come with. We had NO idea how much Jack's house would feel like home! First off, the property is impeccable. We all slept so comfortably in our own spaces and we were able to grill every night in the beautiful kitchen with the patio/grill right outside. Jack was so kind and curated for us delicious coffee and sourdough from the local co-op, and farm-fresh eggs, butter, and creamer awaited us in the fridge. Our kids LOVED the loft space upstairs. We were so grateful for Jack's hospitality and sweet home while visiting and exploring Port Townsend.

Hidden Gem
Beautiful touch of nordic hygge nestled in the PNW forrest. Home and grounds are lovely and provided a wonderful gathering for our family. Kitchen is better equipped than most peoples main home! No dining table inside so might be problematic in winter months. The dining area on the deck overlooking the garden is charming. Jack our host was always responsive to our texts and quick to attend to any inquiries. As previous reviews have stated there are no window treatments but the house is situated to provide lots of privacy.

A great place just outside Port Townsend
The house is beautiful and the location is quiet and serene. The garden and house are beautiful and full of comfortable things. The kitchen is very well equipped - knives were sharp, pans in all kinds of sizes, pretty plates - and we appreciated Jack's gift of his smooth favorite coffee blend and local eggs. Beds were all comfortable and the deck a lovely place to sit. PT is just a short drive away. We all agreed we would come again
