My daughter said this hotel made her feel like royalty. Parking was pricey especially when it’s the only option really besides the few spots they have out front. We walked all around outside it was close to a lot of great places. The room was very clean but the view was just other rooms.
Historic building, welcoming staff, spacious and clean rooms. Street parking at night was free and 2 hr parking during business hours was affordable. A lot across the street charged only $10 per day. So don’t pay $59 per night for valet. 10 min walk to Pearl District.. the neighborhood was surrounded by strip clubs so it can get rowdy late on Friday or Saturday but definitely a vibrant urban experience
STAFF WAS ACCOMMODATING AND FRIENDLY, FOOD OPTIONS AND FOOD WAS GOOD IN MOTHER’S BISTRO, bathroom could use dusting around the mirrors and in less frequent used areas in the room otherwise, fairly clean. Oh, Need to check bed skirts on the bed box springs. Had stains on it.
Great location. So close to the waterfront. The hotel's stay was not optimal for few reasons. First, we had a race in the morning at 8AM and therefore no time for breakfast. While the hotel advertise a pack-and-go breakfast option, when we ask for it, the front desk told us that we were too many guests in our room to all get the option. We settle with sharing 2 breakfasts for 6 guests. The second is that the hotel lobbies were fun of half-clothed guests who were loud beyond the acceptable hours. There obviously was a rave party in the hotel. It would have been much better to put all these guests together and not have my family with 4 children between 10 and 14 to be mingling with these adults. The complimentary drink was a nice touch. The swimming pool is nice while the facility is a little creepy and seems run down. A fresh coat of paint would go a long way. We will return for the location, but we will not return with our kids.
I liked the location, easy to find new things to do close by! One downside is that i didn't realize that parking was $60 a night. I didn't think to check to see if it was included because I just assumed it was included. I'll definitely make sure to keep an eye out in the future!

There was a used toothbrush on the counter in the bathroom. There were rubberband hair tyes on the floor of the bathroom. The carpet appeared to not be very clean. The shower handle that controls the temperature seemed to be broken (loose) and ended up being still hot when it was turned down because the handle went back to original hot position on its own. The wifi being an extra charge on top of the room and valet parking was just too much.
Not what it once was! We had always stayed at this downtown Embassy and aside from what is happening outside in Portland it’s sadly not the same place inside this hotel. Furniture in the room needs an update, lack of hot water, breakfast not nearly as good. Valet parking attendant left my car unlocked the first night and felt that this was okay.

The hotel and staff are wonderful, kind and helpful. Things were a little outdated and was a bit disappointed in a few issues with the room but cleanliness was not a problem just a few things need to be updated. Parking is a big issue with this location there really needs to be a cheaper option other than valet especially for guests. The area around is a bit sketchy and noisy and you will meet some interesting people but overall for the convenience of location and being able to walk everywhere was decent. Would I stay here again? Only if other options weren't available.
Restauraunts attached to hotel are excellent!

The hotel is too dark, you guys need to invest in quality lights in the room and in the common areas. But overall experience was good, we would comeback again.
We were offered a room upgrade for an extra $20/night with the promise of a view but when we got in to our room we were disappointed that it was just across the street from a wall of a parking garage. Some “view”. Otherwise it was fine, downtown Portland is in a bit of a decline right now and it felt somewhat unsafe nearby. The breakfast at the hotel was fantastic though!
This is the old Monarch Hotel. Hilton did an amazing job restoring this historic building! Our room was a king suite which was 700sq.ft with super high ceiling. I strongly recommend Room 105. Unfortunately, we found some crackers in a chair and an earring on the floor... The hotel was sold out the weekend we stayed and theyvwere understaffed. It took two hours to have towels delivered. Sadly, this area of Portland has a significant population of folks on the streets, but that shouldnt deter anyone from staying in this amazing building. Will do again!
Great location and great property. We intend to stay there again next time we’re in Portland. Very convenient to most places in town and it had a large amount of things to do around it.
This was for a friend's birthday, and I loved how central it was to Portland. The hotel was also clean, friendly staff, and a great affordable room!
Got to use the pool, sauna, and hot tub, and these were maintained relatively well.
Pictures don't accurately reflect the condition of this property for the price you pay per night. They also charge you more for higher up rooms that look across at other rooms (weird layout, and strange to charge more).
