Very bad choice!

The hotel did not accept the Expedia reservation and payment, and asked us to pay again for the room in the beginning of our stay. I had Expedia call them (they were surprised about the situation) but this did not change things. They did reimburse the Expedia reservation 4 days after our arrival, but we ended up losing $40 due to the currency exchange rates. This means that they kept twice the room charge for 4 days. The staff at the reception were rude and dealt with us in a very sarcastic way. At the end of our stay they were testing us to see if we are saying the truth about the minibar purchases. Room cleanliness was unacceptable for a 4 star hotel. They never swept the floor and the towel/bathrobe condition was very poor. The bathrobes reminded us of the rugs we use to clean the floors. The breakfast was very rich but you should go early otherwise you will end up in a huge crowded room fighting over croissants and the toaster. Dinner at the hotel is very cheap but if you ask for ice you will be asked for 5 euros per ice buckets. Outside the hotel the staff was protesting for their rights and complaining about the hotel management. I stayed at HF Ipanema park 8 years ago and I was very happy, so I though I would go again this year despite the fact that it is completely secluded from the center and far away from any type of public transportation. Never going back there again.
