I'm mixed on this resort. It's an enormous place, and lots to do, especially for kids. The cabanas with the little pool are awesome. However the food is just plain awful, and the drinks are never made the same way twice (even from the same person).

1- Check-in was horrible after 2h They gave us a room where the door did not open and the Bell Boy opened it with his key, and instead of having a King bed it had 2 Queen beds (they didn't even help us in check-in knowing that we were a couple) after 2h they gave us to another room with 1 King bed 2- We went to lunch at the Brazileño restaurant just like my last trip and they told us that we could not have lunch there unless you were a diamond club member 3- Natural juices only in breakfast & before was anywhere and anytime 4-I went to the buffet and barely attended, I practically had to sit on my own and sometimes ask for water, also they turned off the air conditioner as a result was sllipery floor 5- this blow out my mind, there were NO SPOONS, you had to ask the waiters for them because they said there were not enough, same as the fabric napkins 6- The mattress was horrible, I had back pain for all week, I asked for the mattress to be change, and the only thing they could do was change it from another room, was better but still bad condition 7- I have never seen as much misery within a hotel in Punta Cana as this trip, they cannot hire managers which only goal is their bonus at the expense of the hotel's category and client happiness. For us, ROYALTON MANAGEMENT is really bad, not the Dominican workers, the last management was incredible and they should not have been changed.

I liked everything about this resort except a couple of things. 1. Check in took us 1.5 hours, however my friend came 2 days later and check in for her took 15 mins. So I’m not sure if we just came at a very busy time. 2. How difficult they make it to get into a restaurant. You can’t make reservations, so you have to come 30-50 mins before restaurants open and stand in line. However, diamond club members are able to make reservations and we ended up staying in line for 3 restaurants only to have large diamond club groups walk in 5 mins before opening abs taking all open tables. I wish there was a way to see if diamond club even has reservations or not so we wouldn’t waste time standing in line. After our third day trying to get into a restaurant, we gave up. I would have given this resort a much lower rating if their buffet food wouldn’t be so good. I didn’t even feel like I messed out on restaurants since the buffet offered that much variety. 3. Staff was great, except waiters in buffet. We would have to wait a while to get water and there were days when no one even asked if we wanted anything and our tables were not cleared. Housekeeping was great, only great service. Concierge guys were always ready to help. Overall, it was a nice resort with a great beach. Their beach swimming area was very small but it wasn’t too bad. Seaweed was cleaned every morning and afternoon. There is security on the beach that watched out for your stuff and helped you find spots.

We enjoyed our stay at Royalton Bavaro. Friendly and helpful staff; great food (with many options); entertainment; restaurants and bars everywhere (all night); coffee and Ice cream shop; a plus for me is they have a lot of shaded spaces around the property (beach, pool, etc). My family and I had a great time at the lazy river (especially the bar inside). I will for sure go back to this hotel

Overall the hotel was ok. The staff was extremely friendly which made the trip better. However the rooms were not the cleanest and had a strong mold smell. Looked outdated and very used. The towels were very old and worn out. The buffet area staff were very friendly but the place was very dirty. The tables and chairs always had food droppings on them. The floor was very slippery.I even saw roaches in the common area and even on the booth chairs more than once which I did bring to the waitress attention. They would not leave us alone from the moment we got there trying to sell us an upgrade to Diamond club. Would not recommend staying here.

The shower in our suite would not turn on the rain waterfall head. We asked them twice to come fix it, it would hold for a half a shower when they fixed and then nothing. We finally gave up and just used the body handheld shower to which we had to crouch down to wash our hair. The staff on sight weren’t friendly. Some were. But the waiters and waitresses walked around like they hated their job. It definitely brought the mood down. The bartenders, again most of them just hated their job. I heard multiple people around the resort say this as well. Then the restaurants, they say is reservation free. However, every single night we had to be there for 5:30pm to lineup until 6-6:30 and then finally get a “reservation” for 7:30-8pm. The whole process was very disorganized. No one would give you a straight answer and it nearly caused fights in the lines with other restaurant goers. Finally one morning we decided to order room service since we’d had enough of the loud buffet, she said it was be an hour. still no food after an hour and a half. I finally called and asked where it was to which she told me they didn’t have any carts left today so they didn’t make our food. Said we could walk down and get our food but to give them 20 minutes to make it. I told them it was unacceptable not to call, not to tell us anything about just deciding not to make our food so I asked if the buffet was still open, no. Closed. She understood I was upset and eventually had food made 2 hours later

there was limited space to eat at restaurants, Steak house was never available, you could not reserve ahead, the Japanese was the only one you could make reservation and not very flexible, overall food at the buffet was very good and there was a lot of variety

We had a great time myself, my wife and our 2 children at the Royalton Bavaro resort in Punta Cana. Staff were friendly, food was excellent and offering alot of different options. We had the presidential suite that offered more than enough space for our family. We had a great vacation. The staff and service are excellent. The rooms are clean and very nice. However if every room is designed like ours, it is not good for families with children because there is no privacy for shower or bathtub. Our room was very musty and damp. We went there to have a nice relaxing vacation but our first full day there every time we went in or out, we were bombarded by someone wanting to talk to us about the Diamond Club. Also, it was difficult to relax on the beach because of vendors coming around to sell their items. We enjoyed the lazy river and the pool areas were clean and very nice.

Property was very nice, our room and the ocean water were beautiful, and I would even say all the staff were pleasant. However, some of the frustrating things we delt with were such turn offs we will not return. We had to request towels and toilet paper 4 times before they brought it to us, check in and out took almost an hour - each. The food was okay, but I would not say it was great and it was so Americanized I didn't feel like I was in Punta Cana. Also can't forget how the roof started leaking and I was getting rained on at the blackjack table :). Our driver said this was the best resort around and while it was beautiful resort - based on our experience we won't return and would likely go to another resort or part of the island.
