Clayton, GA (NE Georgia) Cozy Mountain Cabin with View-Hillcrest Lodge

This is a unique family home that has been passed down for three generations. You will find historic pictures and information about the development of Sylvan Lake Falls as well as artwork from local artists and family members.

The Great Room, with views of the mountains, includes a living area, cozy fireplace, breakfast nook and a dining table with seating for 10. The set up allows a large crowd to enjoy games, puzzles, conversation or TV-watching all in the same space. The home is a ranch style with a split plan.

We recently restored the wood floors in two bedrooms, and purchased all new mattresses. The master bedroom with a King bed and bath is on one side and the Queen Bedroom and Twin Bedroom share a hall bath on the other side of the house. In addition, there is a brand new sleeper sofa in the living room for additional sleeping accommodations. There is ample parking in the driveway which doubles as a great play area for children to roam around and explore. In the side yard, there is a fire pit to enjoy on chilly nights. There are two additional buildings on the property- one is a carport with a laundry area, the other is my Grandfather's old shop. This home is part of the quiet Sylvan Lake Falls Community made up of year-round residents. As our guests, you will have access to the SLF community area which includes a gazebo and large open picnic area at the edge of the lake. Guests can enjoy all aspects of the property with the exception of a fenced-in tennis court that is unstable at the present time. In the carport, there is a laundry room with a washer and dryer. Chairs to use around the firepit are also stored in this carport.

You will find a notebook filled with suggestions for hikes and other activities in the area. There is a Walmart and grocery store in Clayton to purchase items needed for your visit. There is also a small grocery store in Dillard. We would encourage you to make your grocery run before coming to the cabin if possible. In season, Osage Farmers Market on 441 on your way to Dillard offers local produce as well as BBQ and sides that you can pick up for large gatherings. If you are enjoy cycling please message us and we can give you information about the access areas for cycling in Wolfork Valley.

Since this home is nestled within the Sylvan Lake Falls community we ask that you respect and preserve the tranquil atmosphere that you will find here. Per Rabun County ordinance, as part of the rental agreement you are obligated to abide by all of the requirements of the Rabun County ordinances, state and federal law, and such a violation of any of these rules may result in the immediate termination of the agreement and eviction from the premises, as well as potential liability for payment of fines levied.

Beautiful location
This rustic cabin had an interesting history to it. Although it was off the main highway by a few minutes, it was very close to ace ice drives, Black Rock Mt and Foxfire Museums. Clayton and the Ingles grocery store were a short drive away. David was very thorough in his communication with us. The kitchen had everything we needed. We enjoyed ordering family meals from “Sunday Diner” in town. For $25-35 we had more than enough food for the five of us and heated it up after a day of exploring the area.

Hillcrest cozy cabin was simply perfect!
This house was perfect for our week in North Georgia! Private, clean, and comfortable home away from home! The grounds and mountain view were so beautiful, too. We stayed out on the porch a lot, and enjoyed the fire pit as well! Just hope we can stay here next time!

Making memories
My sister and I took our kids for a week. We thoroughly enjoyed the cabin. The beds were very comfortable and we loved spending time outside. We explored the mountain daily and played in the stream. Most of all, we created memories with each other that will last a lifetime! We will definitely return next year.

Extremely Pleased!
This cabin is the best and we enjoyed our stay very much! The property is beautiful and secluded with a gorgeous view of the mountains from the porch. The location is easy to get to and is near Black Rock State Park which is a great park to visit. The check in process was also easy and the cabin is so cute, comfortable, and clean! The kitchen is well stocked, there is a Keurig as well as a standard coffee maker, all kinds of plates and cups to choose from, cooking pans and utensils, and even some ziploc bags and foil if needed. The furniture in the living room is comfy and extra blankets are provided for coziness. The kids enjoyed the bunk beds and they thought the toys in the closet were fun. The beds and pillows were super comfortable as well and there was even a fan in one closet that we used because we had forgotten ours. In addition, the cabin was full of history and it was so interesting to read about the area and how the cabin came to be, as well as to see all the pictures of the people that made it happen. This was a great experience for us and we will definitely be back!

First time staying in the GA Mountains
My husband, daughter and grandchildren stayed for 5 days. This cabin was the most well stocked rental we've ever had with spices, paper products, baggies, foil, plastic wrap, soaps, body wash and shampoo, etc. There were dishes with lids to store left over food appropriately. The cabin was clean and cozy. The bed in the master was super comfy. The room with the bunk beds was perfect for the boys. We slept with the windows open because the weather was cool. This house doesn't have central air, but a unit in the living room. The mountain view was lovely and we enjoyed sitting on the back porch in the mornings and evenings. There was plenty of outdoor furniture available. The gardens were gorgeous. We would definitely go back again.

Hillcrest Lodge is a peaceful and restful vacation home.
Hillcrest Lodge is nestled in the peaceful community of Sylvan Lake Falls. The view out of the front windows of the mountains and valley below is panoramic/spectacular and will not disappoint. The house has a well equipped kitchen and a decent spice cupboard. Our family truly enjoyed our week at the Hillcrest Lodge and would highly recommend it.

Saved our vacation!
We had booked a different property but the night before check-in the owner had to cancel due to a sewer issue. So this was very least minute, communication was outstanding and the cabin was exactly as advertised.

This vacation home was wonderful it was both spacious and cozy all at the same time!
Would definitely book this property again in the future. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay which is literally on Black Rock Mountain. The house was very clean and the kitchen had an awesome variety of cooking utensils which worked out great for us as we had brought lots of groceries not planning to eat out due to covid and the foggy rainy weather. Our hosts were very helpful with great advice to make our stay just more enjoyable. Property is conveniently located near great places to check out, Black Rock State Park, Scaly Mountain, Sky Valley Overlook, Tallulah Gorge etc.

We had the most amazing time, we had a white Christmas the house was exactly as described, can't say enough on how clean and cozy it was. The best vacation I have been on in a long time we where snowed in and thanks to David for his text that told me we might better plan on not being able to leave the mountain for a few days so we stopped at Walmart and loaded up on supplies. It was so beautiful and we didn't get much of a chance to explore as I mentioned we where white powder stuck ... lol. A lot of bonding as I had all 3 of my children and 2/3rds of my grandchildren. Just wow

Great location, well-stocked!
We rented for 3 nights and the place was super clean and well-stocked with spices, etc. needed for cooking. We slept like babies on the comfortable memory foam mattresses. My husband and I both LOVED reading about the history of the home, and the community which was established and developed by the grandfather of the current owner. Guest books going back to the 60's were fun to read. Xmas decorations appreciated! Good location, remote enough but easy to get to, close to Clayton and Black Rock Mtn State Park. Communication with owner was quick and easy via text. Highly recommended!
