Positive things: price was under $100, great value for Maine coastline in summer. Beautiful view onto the harbor, convenient to downtown restaurants and coffee shops. Staff was friendly and helpful. Cleanliness- bathroom could use some sprucing up, mold in the shower. Breakfast- need spoons if you are serving cereal,and yogurt but about what one would expect overall at the price point. Noise- someone was pounding on an adjacent room door for what seemed like half an hour at 6 am. Not their fault but seemed unreasonable.

I was so disappointed in the room that I left one night early (of just two) and ate the cost. The bed was poorly supportive and uneven. Felt like a fold out or a futon even though they were two double beds. The room was dark and sorely in need of an update. There was one soft spot in the floor under the carpet that you could feel plywood flexing unsupported, right near the bathroom sink. Neither of the bathroom sink or shower had a drain stopper. One or more of the drop ceiling tiles in the bathroom were water stained brown. My room was advertised to have no windows, except there was one window, oddly facing the hallway with a poorly covering curtain. It let so much hallway light in that several times I woke up, thinking I missed my alarm clock and the day had begun. Very disappointing, considering how highly rated this was on the Expedia site.

We love the Craignair and this was our second visit. The staff are all wonderful and so accommodating. Our arrival was a bit rough because there was private event taking place, so we had to wait until the bartender found someone to check us in and then it felt a bit like we weren't supposed to be in the common areas until the event concluded. No big deal, but we might have planned differently had we known ahead of time that this was the case. Wait staff were a bit loud one night after dinner service, but quieted down when we asked. Still, I am impressed at how relaxed and homey the place feels even in high summer when tourists are everywhere. We had previously stayed in November and kind of had it to ourselves, so we were definitely spoiled by that experience, but were amazed at how peaceful it was even during the busy season. Loved hiking Craig Island and watching the birds and the waves every morning and evening from our balcony or the dining area. This place is truly a gem.
