I wrote a detailed review using their guidelines but Expedia wouldn't post. Thought this was supposed to be honest feedback to give travellers the heads up. This hotel is within half a mile of a street crime hotshot. We were robbed once and then attempted again 2 days later. Hotel staff are unhelpful and unfriendly, some rude. Food is same buffet every night. Pay the extra, book a hotel in Copacabana and use cabs to get around, they're not expensive.

The staff were very informative and friendly. The room was clean but all towels and sheets were almost worn out and very old with many spots.

Adequate but nothing to write home about

Pros: The breakfast
Cons: Room cleanliness and updating of the facilities in the room
Location: Easy to locate on Avenida Presidente Vargas and close to the centre of Rio, however I really would recommend staying in Copacabana
The staff at reception were initially not entirely welcoming. Room felt a bit tired and a little bit dusty. The rooftop pool was small but well maintained. The sauna was ok. However the breakfast in the morning was absolutely spectacular with a wide range of fruits, cereals, hot and cold foods, and juices. This was easily the best aspect of this otherwise very ordinary hotel. Certainly I feel that this hotel did not justify its price tag at £70/night

Pros: The location is great and has easy access to several attractions. The hotel is good quality structurally and in fine condition.
Cons: Staff should speak English, at least at level which can allow them to give basic directions.
Location: Many churches, Plaza XV, the New Cathedral.
The hotel is located in Centro closed to the bay and only 20min away from GIG. Checking-in was smooth and pleasant, and one lady at the reception spoke good English and helped to purchase the tickets to Corcovado. The problem is that almost all the staff at the reception do not speak any English. So even some of them are friendly and willing to help, they simply can't. The room is comfortable and in good size.
