It was a small, slightly old-fashioned hotel in a quiet area, surrounded by other larger hotels and a small number of bars and restaurants.6-7 minute walk to the Metro Station and a 10 minute walk to the Spanish Steps. On arrival we were greeted by, Vincent, the hotel manager. He was exactly what we would have expected from a hotel manager, immaculately presented, with an air of efficiency and precision in everything that he did. He asked if we were familiar with the city and when we said “no” he immediately provided a map and then explained all necessary details of where we were, how to get to certain attractions, how the metro system worked and generally familiarised us very quickly with all the basic information that we needed. We instantly felt confident in touring the city. In the restaurant/bar area we were served on a number of occasions by Asia. On every occasion she was very friendly and very accommodating. Arrived back one evening just as the bar had closed. Asia was just leaving however upon bumping into us & realising that we were looking for a nightcap she was more than happy to delay leaving & serve us some drinks. We felt as if she was going out of her way to accommodate us. The negative points. We had booked a Superior Room (5th floor). No view, unable to make tea or coffee and the fridge was on the wall! Cooked breakfast awful, overcooked scrambled eggs which hardened into a ball and fatty bacon cut up. It would not take much to improve this.
