Definitely not Mercure standard
Quite disappointing for a Mercure - more like an Ibis-standard hotel. Room was very basic - vinyl flooring, average bed and there was no fridge or air-conditioning, even though this had been advertised. The restaurant was not available in the evening (they seemed to have a small function on) but we were teased by the fact that delegates seemed to be enjoying a delicious meal whilst we had to visit a local supermarket to get some bread and cheese to eat by the pool. The outdoor pool was most welcome (we had driven from Lille in France that day and had been caught in a lot of delays). Fortunately it was only an overnight stop

Adequate for a one night stay whilst travelling through Germany. Slightly dated decor. Friendly reception staff. Both bar and restaurant shut due to Corona (possibly can’t keep social distance?) but breakfast available @ €16 per adult, but we didn’t opt to take it. OK for the low price.

Ok if you need an overnight stay for the border
The hotel is well situated to cross the border into France and travel back to the UK. The area is quite run down however there is a petrol station very close by. The hotel itself looks very tired and dated. The rooms look well worn, Although the bathroom was very bew looking. The bed was a standard, cheap hotel bed. The advert says air con but it is centrally controlled which isn't much use!! The breakfast is served at the moment. It was a good size but didn't taste great, especially for the price.

Good for a quick overnight stay.
Quick overnight stay enroute to Stuttgart. The hotel is clean, convenient and straightforward. There’s plenty of parking, quick check in and the rooms are a good size. Layout and bathrooms a little dated, but everything is in good order.

Nice but not if you need air conditioning!
The hotel was nice however the air conditioning was not sufficient to cool the room. The pool wasn't clean and when I complained I was advised that the pool cleaning staff don't work on Saturday or Sunday and it was Sunday late afternoon. I do have to say that a member of staff then went out to clean the pool but by the time they were finished the pool wasn't in the sun and the moment was lost.

Therefore we will reach a high standard in changing the air in the whole hotel. We noticed your complains about our pool as you speak with our front office staff upon your arrival. Please note that we are cleaning our pool on a daily basis but as it is a outdoor pool surrounded by a natural garden we can not avoid that some leaves or gras could be on top of the water due to the wind. The staff was friendly when we arrived and was able to answer all our questions. English was fluent and there was no confusion. We had dinner at the hotel and it was very delicious and the prices were fair, the bartender was great company and quick to get refills and take orders. Parking was free and we believe the price was fair for the overall stay. Breakfast was expensive for a simple buffet, but that’s almost all of European hotels. We booked the hotel with the promise of AC and was told the facility controls it throughout the whole hotel themselves; it was cooler in the hallway than the room itself so we had to bring in our own fan just to feel comfortable enough to sleep. We enjoyed the cold temperature of the pool for it was very hot outside, however, it was full of leaves and bugs and the chairs were awkward to sit in and a little uncomfortable.

Very small elevator can't take all our 3 bags at one time. Clean but coukd be cleaner. Has big parking that was very good. Room is spacious. No free water or coffee in the room.

Resttful
Very close to the city center of Saarbrucken Germany. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Quite area of town. They people working there were very helpful and curtious. Rooms were large with very comfortable beings and amenities. It's a place to return to whenever we are in town.

The hotel is situated off a main road behind a fuel station on what feels like a trading estate. It is a €12-€18 cab ride from the centre of the city (maybe 15-20 minutes depending on time of day and traffic). That is great for the cab drivers but soon adds to the overall cost. The staff are nice. I had issue with under staffing (only 1 person on checkout/check in) which compared very badly with the Mercure Hotel City Saarbrucken I stayed in 2 weeks before and competence once, When I tried to check out the person was clueless. I had to ask for a Manager to help. Their training had not worked.
