Between the city bus, taxis and Uber you can get to most places that aren't in walking distance. The pictures on the site don't really show how incredible the view actually is. They are taken from my phone and not photoshopped.

It is unusual for there to be the amount of sea weed that you experienced on the beach. Usually the city sends people to mechanically rake the beach. The ocean out front can be serene, but it can also have strong currents when the waves kick up. There are calmer beaches nearby for people who are not strong swimmers.

Uber is available, there is a taxi stand across the street and the city bus runs down Ashford Ave. one block away. There are a multitude of restaurants and shops with-in walking distance.
