Puerto Rico Hotel & Resort Travel Guide

Want to visit a foreign country without your passport? Come to Puerto Rico! Culturally, Puerto Rico has more in common with the mix of Hispanic and African influences, which characterize its nearest neighbor the Dominican Republic, than it does with the rest of the United States.

"Great rustic hotel near the heart of Old San Juan"
We arrived off of our cruise ship early and ended up showing up 4 hours before check in. The staff was very accommodating and let us drop our luggage off in a secure location (locked luggage of course). They were so nice and willing to help. They gave us a map and let us know of some good local places to get authentic cuisine. The room was very large and offered a safe free of charge. The bed was comfy and we had beautiful shutters that led to our window/balcony. They offer free wifi in their lobby, which is nice. We also asked for pretty places at night and they were happy to tell us where we could hang out and watch the stars or see some nice places at night.

    "Great experience, until the end"
This was highlighted as one of the top resorts on the island, and I would have to agree. The resort is absolutely beautiful and feels high-class. It features good restaurants, a brand new casino, and a massive pool area with several pools and hot tubs. Everything was pretty expensive, but worth it. My negative experience happened at the end...which is why the hotel earned 4 stars from me. I would have given it 5 if it weren't for this. We were hand delivered a coupon for our spa service, to be taken off of the bill. Yay! We walk to check out, and we are told that the coupon that was hand delivered to me was not applicable to my service. What? Why would I be given a coupon for my service that I could not use for my service? This does not make any sense. The hotel claimed that the spa was a separate entity and not associated with the hotel, so there was nothing they could do to make it right. After a week of paradise and a $2,000 bill, you mean to tell me that you can't honor a coupon? After all of the money I just spent at your resort? A very petty way to end the trip. I also asked to speak to the manager, and instead of the manager coming out to speak to me, she told the hotel staff what to say to me. Last time I checked, when I ask to speak to a manager, I would like to see the manager, not hear what they said from a third party. That was also disrespectful. Overall, amazing place, terrible ending.

    "Beautiful place."
The location was perfect. Right by wonderful restaurants and bars. The place itself is stunning from the woodwork to the open air concept throughout the entire building. We only stayed one evening, but enjoyed it emensly. I would recommend it to anyone staying in Old San Juan. The history is rich in the area and also in this lovely hotel. We had a drink at the bar. They have a nice wine list. We also had breakfast which was mediocre. I probably would not eat there again, especially with such great restaurants nearby. Our server was a little slow and was distracted by other employees so it took a long time for him to give us the check. I did not stay there to dine in so that does not have amy influence on how great I thought our stay was. We did not go to the pool, but it looked very nice and serene. When we go again we will be sure to stay a few more days so we can enjoy it.
