We loved the decorations and history of the castle. Very ornate a little over the top but beautiful. There were two weddings at the hotel and they were very loud all night but that's the way it goes. Great pool and fountains everywhere

The hotel overall was fair. At the night we arrived there was a big celebration with noise until 02:00 am!! The room was small (we order a room with 30 sq meters) the shower space was minimum. breakfast was poor, no drink water in the room

It was fabulously designed and decorated, some say over the top for every day occasions, but we loved it. Holiday decorations accented the effect.

The staff were helpful at reception. We unfortunately were there when the coronavirus was over north of Italy, and we were the only residents very strange. The hotel is very kitch not to our liking at all, something like Hearst Castle in California. Definitely not 5 stars , I would give it 3 star.o We had been booked into a nearby hotel but on arrival the restaurant was closed and we had to get taxis every night. Thanks to Bennis at Expedia he got usmoved to the sonrisa.

Shower leaked all over floor, door handke fell off, paint was scruffy. Got upgraded room which was better. Staff helpful. But so so so noisy at night - music and shouting from nightly parties so could not sleep. Hotel not willing to lower music volume.

Unusual hotel. I think it was a 5 star hotel 30 years ago but the rooms are showing the wear. It was perfectly nice for $55 a night and great if you want kitsch

The hotel was a beautiful place to spend a few days, staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were large and clean. The bar was reasonably priced for a hotel. Only let down was no sun loungers by the pool area, which I can understand as the hotel is geared towards a wedding venue. Ideal place to stay for a few days if traveling around the local area.

Beautiful.
Wonderful and helpful front of house staff. We travelled as 3 Adults. Myself, My Dad and Nephew. We were blown away by the hotel. It has such beautiful old charm. Just stunning. We found that the Taxis were very expensive! Although, less so if you book through Reception. Great stay.

Hotel is a beautiful building with very friendly staff. The room unfortunately was very minimal and looked very exhausted. It could be brought up to a very high standard but it seems no body cares.

An Oasis in a not so pretty town.
The hotel was amazing.It was over the top.Everything was like it was in a movie.There were birthday parties in the afternoon with doves being released and a horse drawn carriage with one of the birthday girls in it.There were fresh flowers everywhere.The breakfast had wonderful croissants and great cappuccinos There was ham and cheese and not so good cold fried eggs.The room was well supplied with all sorts of amenities, toothbrush, toothpaste,soaps.cue tips,needle and threads.Supper was too late for us so we had room service on our balcony.It was deliscious.Agreat stay and a short drive in the morning to the Scavi of Ercolano.

Over the top décor and surroundings, but we really enjoyed our time here. The staff was great and the things to look at in the hotel were very interesting. The air conditioning worked great. The rooms could use a little maintenance in some areas, but we did not mind because everything else made the stay fun.

Magical
I felt as if I had stepped into a dream world where every idea of what would make me happy had already been considered. Initially I thought the decor was overly dramatic, however it was with intent as it is a famous wedding venue. The staff was very intent on ensuring our happiness. It’s wonderful. Highly recommend stay here, just for the experience. It’s like being in a large, sweet, wedding cake.

Amazing and Palatial Hotel
This hotel was booked because it is close to Pompei and Ercolano. Taxis were available from the hotel. we took the taxi to the Pompei and then the train onwards to Ercolano. We had use of their sister hotel for use of the swimming pool. this was on the roof, and had a stunning view of Versuvius, and Pompei. The hotel has bookings every day for the most stunning weddings. The restaurant was good. The hotel is so outstanding, and famous people stay there. This is inland, not near a beach. The roads do not have pavements. No where to walk to.

The staff was just awesome.
Service was fabulous. We got to see an Italian wedding which was cool. The facility seemed a little old and upkeep although good, hasn't been fabulous. The hotel is not close to the train or any major tourist areas, at least not close enough to walk. But the hotel does provide shuttle services for a fee. Depending how many times, it could add up.

nice Hotel
the hotel property is extremely nice , however our room was very uncomfortable , i am not sure what the other rooms would be like , staff was very nice lots of football players have visited this hotel , and two movies were filmed here . this is a family business hotel that goes back 300 years , breakfast and food was a two star with five star pricing . for one or two nights stay I would recommend it not more.

This is not a 5 star hotel I've stayed in better 3 star hotels. The grounds were beautiful but pool closed at 12pm because of a wedding. Weddings take over the hotel and as a gueat I was left feeling uncomfortable. Rooms are very very basic. No dvd as discribed, no turn down service or slippers as discribed. Shower didn't work so was moved into the main hotel when we complained. Main hotel very noisy because of a birthday party with music into late pm. Child's pool was not cleaned and the same dirt in it for the 2 days we were there. Restaurant menu so basic and over priced, breakfast very very basic and closed before the time it stated.

A nice hotel for this part of town.
Our drive to the hotel was a little dissapponting as the area is a little run down. We were relieved when we finally found it. The check in was very nice with staff to assist with our luggage, etc. Lots of functions going on but not intrusive. Breakfast was nice and the staff were delightful. Yes, the decor is unique, but that is why we picked the hotel!

Luxurious hotel. Francesca the concierge was great. Shuttle was reasonable and easy to use. The grounds are beautiful. You will not see a more beautiful hotel. Only thing is they have a wedding most every night and the celebration atmosphere till 11pm may not be good for some, didn't bother us at all as most of the noise was away in courtyard.

Whilst the hotel is very grand inside and out, it is in fact very superficial, no substance, all show. Only good for weddings which they have in abundance. We could not use the swimming pool as weddings in the ground all day. Were promised it would be accessible the next day 4pm to 6pm. It wasn't. Breakfast very cheap like a 2 or 3 star hotel. Dinner, well did not give us a menu, just said could have, then rymned off a few things. Slightly better than the breakfast though. None of the staff seemed interested at all in us, busy dealing with wedding folk. On leaving asked for the bill. Accommodation already paid for as also all the drinks we had we paid cash for, leaving only the 2 course dinner with wine. The man did not give me a bill, just said that would be 100 euros. How odd not to give the bill. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless you were having a special occasion like Birthday, christening or wedding. Do not see the point in having a swimming pool when guest cannot use, that's why I booked this hotel in the 1st place, would not dream of going to hot Country without the Hotel hving a swimming pool

Beautiful hotel, let down by poor staff service
First impressions of the hotel were excellent. Built like a fairy-tale castle in its own secluded grounds.We were offered what was basically a cupboard, but when we complained we were upgraded to an excellent room, with fine views. However, the earlier good impression was somewhat clouded by a very disappointing experience at check out. We were kept waiting around - without explanation or apology - while TWO members of staff dealt with one other guest.

A really GRAND Hotel
This is a very grand hotel, setup to hold weddings. For a family of 4, this was a great hotel for a short break, room was of a good size with a double and 2 single beds. Gentleman at reception was very helpful; breakfast was very good. There is not much to do in the nearby location, so you need a car to find restaurants etc.

Beautiful hot and nice staff.My major issue has to do with the noise. We booked 4 nights. The first morning the noise of the upstairs guests started at 5am. The second night there was a party that went on all night above us and children were in the room alone next door unaccompanied. The staff apologized, but were unable to remedy the situation. We paid a lot of money to stay in a place that should have been a pleasure, but no sleep due to other guests does not make for a good time. It's pretty bad when traveling with 9 month old twins that loss of sleep is not due to crying babies all night.

Amazing stunning Grounds & Lobby Area..
Booked thru Expedia.. Website says 24hr food & cooked breakfast, not the case. Breakfast was very limited. Staff amazing & wonderful grounds.. Rooms dated & Plastic cups for mini bar in a 5* hotel?! Rooms not sound proof & beds not comfortable, but I still wouldn't let this put you off. You do need a car really to get around, but hotel will arrange transfers around, which were really great for us. Restaurant at bottom of the drive, is absolutely fabulous, don't judge from outside. Her cooking is amazing.

Stayed for a couple of nights just before Christmas while we we're visiting Pompeii and was blown away by this hotel it looked like a cross between a Vegas hotel and Michael Jacksons Neverland ranch. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

This is a real italian gem with a ton of history.
This place is like no other hotel I have ever stayed at. It has some of the most ornate decorations inside, the staff is awesome, the food is great and it is a perfect location near Pompeii ruins. If you visit southern Italy, this is a must stay place.

Our room was excellent. The staff was wonderful and accommodating. My daughter stayed at $1000a night hotel the week before. She said she like this one better. I would stay at this one again in a heartbeat. I would highly recommend.

Worth a visit for a look rather than a stay
This hotel has the wow factor, yes a little dated and not to everyone's taste but modernising would only ruin the ambiance of the place. Rooms in the main building were good, avoid the annex (view of aircon, wifi didn't work and no bath). With the exception of the maid and one of the guys behind the desk the service was terrible, took over an hour to sort the room out, ordered drinks (vodka and orange) and I'm still not sure exactly what we got. Food in the restaurant was nice, again service terrible, asked for wine and just had an already opened bottle of red dumped on the table, no wine list (despite other tables having different bottles) and tasted like it had been open for a week, suspect it was just filled from a cheap wine box!

Beautiful but a little quirky
This has to be the strangest hotel I have ever stayed in! The building is fabulous, the room I had was huge and beautifully appointed, there are lots and lots of staff all in sriking uniforms, but things were a little odd! I asked for a Gin and Tonic from the well dressed Bar man, and he had no idea what this was, he spent ages hunting for Gin which was clearly on the shelf behind him, and served it in a wineglass with no ice or slice. Waiters in the restaurant, which seemed to change location daily were alos perfectly presented, but they were not 5 star material, they all seemed to be real amateurs. TThere were times where the reception desk had 4+ uniformed staff behind the desk with nothing to do, but there were always scruffy people in cut down jeans and teeshirts who were in and out of the office behind reception. It was a very unusual experience, certainly not 5 star in service probably 2 star. It was like a pretend hotel nothing was what it seemed.

Most excellent "Grand" hotel!
We loved the grandeur and charm of this hotel! It is obviously a place where italians love to hold events - There was a wedding or fancy party every evening, but even so we were never inconvenienced by noise or people during our stay! The staff went to great lengths to make our stay lovely, suggesting beaches to visit, and making sure we were happy! We enjoyed the "Bed and Breakfast" aspect of a full service hotel. It was like staying in a wealthy relatives' home!
