Would not stay again. Not worth the price!

Posted Jul 17, 2017
Very disappointing for a Fairmont! One of the most expensive rooms I have paid for and by far the most disappointing. Stay at a hotel around Sonoma Plaza instead that is surrounded by shops & dining. The dining at the Fairmont is outrageosly priced. The rooms are dated, staff very rude & the spa way below standard. Bathrooms with showers and lockers not even in same area as spa. I had a 60+ year old masseuse who talked the entire time I was getting my massage. The pools were not refreshing at all being over 90 degrees when it was over 90 outside ! Avoid this tourist trap! This place felt like a retirement community not a resort. Save your money!!!!

Great hotel, great staff, but....

Pros: Everything
Cons: During week days, the pool bar closes at 5p. The lobby bar opens around the same time (4p?). It would be nice to have the wait staff work until 6:30
Location: Great location. Great things to do.

Not your average Sonoma/Napa hotel

Posted Jul 9, 2017
Pros: Architecture was pleasing and the staff remained friendly despite the rush of a holiday weekend which they didn't seem equipped to handle.
Cons: Rooms facing the dumpster should not be marketed as rooms.
Location: Bike to Sonoma Square
To be honest, we made last minute reservations and were glad to find a room over the July 4th holiday. However, my more cynical side now says, there's a reason why we got a room.... the hotel is not in the hub of every thing you want to do in the region, and It's best to be marketed as it's own destination. The hotel staff were friendly, but slow moving. After a super late check-in at 5:45 pm (way passed the promised 4 O'clock), we still couldn't get our luggage delivered to our room for another hour, and nobody could tell us why it was taking so long. Given that after they had been ticketed by the reception, they were left unattended in the hotel lobby, I got suspicious that they might've been lost or stolen. Luckily they weren't. The Bell staff was just overwhelmed or disorganized. Our room can best be described as an adequate bed to sleep on. The windows were a white out that made them non see through and I assumed it was to offer privacy, but once my husband peered over the top he saw that it was because we were facing the dumpster! The short conclusion: Be sure you specify what kind of room you want. I didn't know that dumpster view was even an option.I thought parking lot was as bad as it got! However, to be fair, due to our time constraints we didn't take the time to take advantage of everything that the hotel had to offer, and our experience might've been different had we stayed more than one night.

Quaint hotel in heart of Sonoma

Posted Jul 7, 2017
Pros: The spa pool. In room dining. Jerry.
Our stay at the Fairmont started off a little rough at first due to our room not being ready on time and not enough staff being able to assist with check-ins. But I made contact with the front office manager, and he absolutely made our weekend. He was extremely courteous and easy to work with, and more than made up for the poor experience we initially had upon arrival. Ended up being a fantastic weekend at the Fairmont, and I owe a great deal of that to the front office manager. Thank you, sir!

Would not stay again

Posted Jun 30, 2017
There was an odor in the hallway that was very overwhelming. Not sure if it was in the carpet, but I was unpleasant. The room was small and the bed too firm. With the air conditioning off you could here every movement of the guests upstairs. There was a loud gathering in the Pavilion that began at 7am which woke me up. Nice staff and restaurant but would not stay here again.

Amazing Hotell Staff

Posted Jun 26, 2017
I really don't have any negative remarks about my overall experience. My only issue was the facility itself. The rooms were a bit outdated. The building clearly needs painting or power washing (which I Only mention this because when you think Fairtmont you associate top of the line 5 stars). The window shades didn't block all light in the morning and my AC wasn't working properly. HOWEVER, when I brought my room experience issues to their staff they went out of their way to make my stay a memorable one. Breakfast was offered at no cost, daily wine in my room with chocolates. A call directly from the guest services to ensure they could do more for me. I felt well taken care of. I recommend this place and I will definitely be back.

Relaxation in Sonomahhh...

Posted Jun 24, 2017
Pros: Beautiful grounds, nice rooms, lovely onsite restaurant with a vast wine selection. Good complimentary bottle of Cab Sauv in the room.
Cons: It would be nice if one could get a quick breakfast somewhere on the property, if one doesn't have time for the sitdown experience.
Location: It's minutes from the ctr of Sonoma, w/a super selection of shops, restaurants, bars, et al. Also great café across street -- Barking Dog Coffee.
I went up to Sonoma for a short overnight, and got a nice rate for a Sunday night at SMI. This is one of my favorite places, and it lived up to expectations. Quiet, helpful staff, great pool and spa areas.

OK hotel in Sonoma

Posted Jun 24, 2017
Pros: The location.
Cons: The lobby restaurant. The upkeep of the pool. Better attention to the number of room occupants.
Location: We were there to do the Sonoma vineyards. There were many within a short drive.
We booked the hotel for 4 adults. When we arrived in the room there were only towels and water for 2. I went to the front desk and asked that the room be equipped for 4. In minutes towels arrived. But no additional robes or water. Disappointing for a Fairmont. The pool had a green tinge. Not appealing. The visit was during an abnormal heat wave so the chlorine could have disappeared due to the heat, but the next day it was still green.. no one had shocked it. The lobby restaurant was awful. My daughter and I ordered a Caesar Salad. It was old the lettuce was wilted and covered in some kind of oily dressing. My son and daughter played tennis . The shuttle to the courts that delivered them but the return trip was difficult. The phone system seemed to be down. They had to call me to get the staff to send the shuttle for them. The hotel is pretty, the location good. The room was fine. But all in all not up to the standards of a Fairmont.
