About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

You are here... well, almost!

Our clean, modern and cozy 3 bed / 2 bath home is situated on 80 feet of level frontage on the beautiful Townsend Flowage. The Flowage is a full recreation lake, with a no wake policy after 5pm, perfect for cocktail cruises. We are located on the upper lake, which is the quieter of the two.
The Flowage is a productive fishery, where you can catch large-mouth bass, rock bass, crappie and northern pike, along with perch, bluegill, and the occasional walleye and muskie. Loons, herons, ospreys and bald eagles also take up residence on the Flowage.

Our location means that you can truly have the best of both worlds while spending time here!

Quiet and private, you have full access to fish, swim or boat the 476 acre lake that includes a private dock.
Our frontage is ideal for swimming or just lounging on a float, and we have two kayaks available if you feel like exploring.
The wrap-around deck provides spectacular views of the lake, and allows for outdoor dining.
For the "winter warriors", the 80' of level frontage provide easy access for ice fishing! And snowmobile enthusiasts will love the fact that you can ride directly to the Paul Bunyan trails from our home.
Guests have access to a Weber Genesis gas grill that we keep in the 3 car detached garage.
Not in the mood to cook? A traditional north woods Supper Club is located within walking distance of our place.
A grocery store, hardware store, and gas station all are conveniently located within 1 mile of your getaway.

Inside, the open floor plan is roomy yet cozy, with views of the lake available from the kitchen dining area and knotty pine adorned living room.
The master bedroom features a queen bed and a private attached full bath, along with a work area and desk. The guest bedroom also has a queen bed, and a crib. The third bedroom is the bunk-room, a favorite of kids (and adults). 6 adults can sleep comfortably, and both couches in the living room are sleepers, in case you need to accommodate a few extra guests.
Two full baths, central air and a gas furnace make this a year round home, perfect for fall hunters. Plus, our location allows you direct access to the Paul Bunyan snowmobile trails that run through town.

In addition to the great views, our home also provides creature comforts for when you are done being outdoors. Dish Network and a flat screen TV means you can still catch your games during your stay. The DVD player lets you watch movies, and you have the ability to play or stream music through the stereo system in the living room.
Want to shed the tech? Plenty of games are available, as well as jigsaw puzzles and a variety of books. There is even a Wii console with plenty of games and remotes connected to the guest bedroom TV.

Townsend is a 3 hour drive from the Milwaukee area, and about 90 minutes from either Appleton or Green Bay.
Pets are limited to 1 well behaved dog, and since we do have year-round neighbors, our place is not what you would consider "party friendly". It is however ideal for families and adults looking for a peaceful getaway.

Family time
It was my husband, daughter, son in law, 2 grandsons and I. The property was nice. Has a big back yard on the water. We rented a pontoon while we were there. Had fun on the Townsend flowage, swimming and fishing. It was a great family vacation.

Owner accused us of breaking their countertop
The property was a bit smaller than what was presented in the pictures. The bedspread in the master bedroom smelled like rancid cooking oil. We did enjoy tubing except there were pontoons in the way the whole time that we had to keep paddling away from. Then the real kicker was when the owner contacted us and accused us of breaking a piece out of the countertop and tracking mud through the entire house and stating he was filing a claim with VRBO to have the countertop replaced and the carpet steam cleaned. We are respectful and honest people and would never have left his house in this condition. He should look at his cleaning person if he wants answers as to how this happened. Also accused us of clogging up the vacuum cleaner that we DIDN’T EVEN TOUCH! Thinking he just wanted a new countertop and needed his carpets cleaned (which needed cleaning long before we stayed there) and didn’t want to pay for it. Never had any problems with any of the other VRBO rentals we have used.

Vacation
The property was beautiful, and the stay was very enjoyable. We had ages 1-95, and the property worked well for all. The owner is generous with the use of the kayaks and outside activities/games. Both my daughter and son enjoyed taking a sunset Kayak ride, and well as other times. Great Grandma has since told me that she can no longer sleep in her own bed as the Master Bed in the property was so much more comfortable. The land is flat to the lake that worked well for Great Grandma, and she was able to sit by the water and watch the 3-year old catch his first fish. The location is good, with much to do all around. Make sure to tour the Cathedral Pines area, the local wineries, and the Steam Engine out of Laona.

Owner was very on top of any possible problems when talking by phone. They attempt to keep the geese out with some fencing but they still leave droppings. Talked with 3 neighbors who were all very nice. Inside is very spacious and well maintained. Hard to swim off of the property but you can take a kayak or pontoon to the lake and go to one of 3 sand bars( very popular when busy) where you can relax in shin high water.

Fun family cabin
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Steve was great and answered all our questions about the local area. We ate at Hillcrest Lodge Supper Club, just down the street from the cabin, it was delicious. Townsend Flowage has a beautiful sandbar we parked our pontoon on each day we were there and had a great time. Even though it rained a few times, the cabin had lots of board games we enjoyed. Our little pups did their best to chase the geese off the lawn each day! Even the property attendant was awesome, cut and stacked firewood for us and was very nice. Highly recommend this cabin for a family getaway!

It's a home away from home
This was our first time staying here and as soon as we entered, it felt as if we were home. The kids loved the Wii and the Atari and we loved the view. Having 4 kids with us for 5 days up north, we were expecting some complaining, but all 4 kids had a blast, meaning mom and dad also had a blast. We would stay here again for sure!
