Cozy & Clean, One Room Cabin Retreat

Enjoy a true getaway in this nicely appointed studio cabin in Lulu’s Guest Ranch. It is one of several authentic Montana ranch cabins in a cluster, just 8 minutes from downtown Whitefish. You will be surrounded by nature, with sweeping vistas. It’s not uncommon to see elk and deer feeding out front, eagles, hawks and owls overhead as well as majestic Clydesdale horses next door at the Clydesdale Outpost.

The cabin was completely updated in 2021 and is very clean. It is small but very well appointed. It has a full kitchen and bath, complete with tile shower. The queen bed is comfortable and offers amazing views of the Whitefish range. Original pine walls provide a warm, rustic ambiance. Outside there are covered and uncovered decks for all seasons, complete with deck chairs and a picnic table. We have friendly lab, Lulu, who occasionally roams the property.

Note: Our cabins have 95% 5-star reviews from guests around the world. They are in authentic, rural Montana. Like most of rural Montana, they have:

1) Limited Wifi. It is available but not fast (8-10 mbps) and sometimes goes down altogether
2) Limited cell service
3) Occasional mosquitos and other insects, inside and outside

If any of these are a critical issue for you, this cabin is not your best choice. We can’t guarantee any of them won’t occur during your stay.

Many locals consider the north side to be Whitefish’s best side. Recreation abounds, just minutes away. Access to the extensive Whitefish trail system is a 5-minute drive to the Beaver Lakes trailhead. This is your gateway to fantastic hiking, trail running and mountain biking. In another few minutes you’ll find beautiful alpine lakes, including Beaver Lake, Murry Lake and Woods Lake. They’re crystal-clear waters are perfect for swimming, paddle boarding and fishing. These are local gems. Speaking of mountain biking, the area’s best trails are also within a 5- minute drive. Between Beaver Lake trail and Spencer Mountain you’ll have your choice of flowy green to challenging double-black runs. The trails are well marked. You can even stop by the Whitefish Bike Retreat (also 5 minutes away) for a beer, great conversation and equipment rentals. The Still water river is less than a half mile away, offering good fly fishing.

Big Mountain (Whitefish Ski Resort) is a 25-minute drive and is a great place to recreate in the summer with an outstanding choice of activities. Glacier Park west entrance is 45 minutes.

Heading north from here you have an incredible selection of lakes, trail systems and all the recreation NW Montana has to offer, but without the crowds!

Quaint and Quiet with a view
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was exactly as described yet even better, the view out the kitchen window and from the small deck was worth resting to see. Jim and Lynette were very accommodating and helpful with hints for local enjoyment. If you are going that way, this is the place to stay.

Beautiful cabin- incredible location- awesome hosts!
This was the perfect stay for us. It’s was about 15 minutes from downtown Whitefish and about an hour from Glacier National Park. The studio cabin was so cute, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the whole setup was great. We loved the space and it was exactly what we were looking for. The hosts were also so kind and easy to work with. Would definitely stay there again!

Quaint 1 room retreat just outside of town
We booked this spot just outside of town for our visit to Glacier National Park. Clean, nice little cabin. No TV but I knew that when i booked - Does get the evening sun so it was too hot to sit out on the porch - but I'd stay here again. Communication with hosts was flawless.

Amazing stay!
We absolutely loved everything about our stay. It was perfect! Beautiful property, new/nice accommodations and super clean. No tv or laundry. But neither are preferred or a requirement for us!

Peaceful and relaxing
We loved our stay in this small cozy cabin. The location is fabulous - scenery all around! It was very clean - perfect for a couple. Our favorite spot was the deck where it’s possible to eat meals and enjoy nature, including the neighboring horses. The owners were responsive and easy to access.

Couldn’t have asked for more
This property was so beautiful and peaceful, the meadow and horses outside the porch were serene. I was impressed with how clean, spacious and updated the cabin was, and Jim offered some excellent local recommendations. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Disappointing
We were expecting a well equipped cabin with mountain views, privacy and quiet. What we got was a glorified shed with a shower & toilet. The florescent light over the bed was full of flies (cleaned on request) there was thick dust hanging off the architrave over the windows (not cleaned). You had to use double plastic steps to climb into the bed from only one side. There wasn't an indoor dining table & chairs. Very poorly equipped, no hangers, wardrobe, dishwasher, limited pots, no hairdryer - not even a box of tissues!! We had to ask for towels & toilet paper they had only supplied one of each. As for the view shoulder high weeds 2 metres from the deck. No privacy from either direction on your 2 x 2 m deck which had a picnic bench style table. From one aspect the owners could watch you and the other was the very noisy highway where they could see straight in to you on the deck. From 4.30 a.m. the trucks started coming through so no sleep after that, it was 11p.m. before they stopped at night. Way overpriced for their very disappointing and dirty accommodation. These people seriously need to research what hospitality is about!! they are just clipping the ticket at an extortionate price for what they offer.

Great stay
We arrived late in the evening and thanks to the great instructions from the host we found the location easily. The place was clean and comfortable with a great view of the pastures and fields around. There is little to no cell service, but the WiFi worked great as a replacement. We were bummed about the road noise. We were excited to sleep with our windows open and have some fresh mountain air but the highway has traffic all night long, so we shut the window and turned the AC on to drown out the noise. Overall it was a great spot and we would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The cabin and entire property were excellent all around. The cabin felt spacious with ten foot ceilings, was thoughtfully decorated and the outdoor deck was an incredible treat. The views of the fields and the mountains beyond were amazing, there were three horses in the pasture nearby and upon arrival we were enthusiastically greeted by Jim's dog, Lulu. This was the first property I've ever stayed in that has ALL 5 STAR RATINGS and when you stay there you'll know why. Thanks so much Jim and Lynette!
