Just What We Needed
Came here for a weekend getaway with my grandparents. The hill country views were immaculate and the cabin itself was homey and had everything we needed to make it a relaxing weekend.

Adult children and grands loved the location and the quirky charm of the cabin. The Senior family members faced several challenges including all bedrooms upstairs by way of difficult spiral stone stairway, and the lack of hand holds in the bathtub/showers.

BREATHTAKING!
Oh my god. I'm not the type of person to leave reviews, but this was an absolutely incredible stay. We were 9 adults and a small dog and there was plenty of (comfortable!) space for all of us, the cabin itself is SO beautiful and fun, and the views from the deck had us absolutely gobsmacked. (I'm so serious, those hills will take your breath away) The location is great, too— the local shopping center is super close and we were able to pop out whenever we needed with no problems. Carrie answered promptly when we had questions before our stay and made sure we had all the information we needed for our weekend to go smoothly. It was everything we could've possibly asked for and everyone had an absolutely amazing time!

Charming, rustic, and...
definitely relaxing, but don't go expecting a lot of commonplace creature comforts. Despite info in the listing, there was no working gas grill on the property (the one in the side yard dilapidated & rusted through); after day one, we managed with charcoal. Furniture is charming, antique but also heavily worn and uncomfortable. Our IT-whiz son brought his ROKU and so was able to get the TV into hi-def mode (incidentally, the Wifi was better than anticipated), and so we were able to watch the Longhorns and Cowboys without going blind. We've stayed here before and would definitely go back, but at this price point it seems like some basics really need to be addressed.

One of the best places I've ever vacationed!!
The location is spectacular, the landscape and tranquility are unmatched by other places, the rooms are well sized and comfortable, the pool is excellent but it would be convenient to install a bathroom in the pool area. The time of entry and exit could be more flexible, the price was very good. Overall an amazing vacation!! I hope to return!!

The stairs were unsafe for children and elderly. Water temperature was never warm. Firewood was lying in the yard and was wet as we gathered it. We had to put it inside to dry before using it. The funiture was uncomfortable. The photos on the website were misleading. screens were torn and holes were in the doors.

Everything was fantastic, the view was gorgeous. We enjoyed the pool in the evenings. The rooms were set up perfectly for our group. Mornings and nights on the deck were perfect, there was always a nice breeze, in fact it even got a little chilly, and it was the end of July, so that was a nice surprise. We didn't cook a lot, only breakfast one morning, but there were plenty of cooking supplies. We had neighbors in the small house and it was not a problem, we rarely saw them.

Good, Gorgeous View, but a Little Over-Advertised
The good: gorgeous patio view, pretty setting in general, and close to downtown. Owner/host had clearly put a lot of thought into details, from the instructions before arriving to having a functional kitchen with silverware, cooking spray, grill tools, coffee, and extras like a vitamix (I think) and French press option. Rooms also had the sheets, pillows, and comforters they needed, as well as towels and wash cloths. Outdoor areas were set up thoughtfully, and pool area was safely gated and neatly maintained. Bathrooms were as spacious as they needed to be but very dimly lit. Where the property felt a little over-advertised to me was on price (even for a holiday weekend) was it’s AC. Had there not been a rainstorm when we visited Memorial Day weekend, the heat would’ve been miserable, as AC can’t be turned above 73 degrees. One night it was a little warm but still sleepable for all. The other area in which it felt overpriced a good me was the bed quality. I tried 4 of the 7 queen or king sized beds. Of the ones I tried, the king was so hard it was unsleepable. And of the other queens, one was almost as hard and the other was okay but sagged to the middle. The layout of the house was a bit given its layout for the number of beds. 8 beds were in 3 rooms. This in and of itself was okay, but all beds were upstairs and accessed by an extremely tight and treacherous stone spiral staircase. To the host’s credit, two dog/kid gates were provided downstairs, but these still only would sit against the stairwell opening, and we policed a no stairs rule (nervously) for all three kids aged 2-5. You’d have to see the stairs and walking to get a feel for how nervous they would make even the adults. Basically, for this price point I would expect real AC for Texas, better beds, safe stairs, and sufficiently bright lighting throughout the home (very dim). I also did not expect to share the pool with another home (across the driveway) for this price point. Although the property is advertised as being on 4 1/2 acres, this doesn’t account for a great deal of the property being extremely steep and rocky and tricky to traverse if you want to explore more than about an acre or so. Didn’t see peacock. The perks were the proximity to downtown Wimberley and the beautiful views from the patio. We enjoyed our stay overall but would look for a different place next time due to the AC situation, beds, and most of all the price point for what you get.

Great Stay
We all really enjoyed the house. If you read some of the prior reviews you found out a few things that others might not have appreciated so let’s touch on some. The house is older with older furnishings yes but it was very clean. Does it need a few updates, yes it could probably use some. The wood floors are squeaky and there isn’t any insulation so you can hear what goes on from room to room and floor to floor. Didn’t bother us at all. It has everything you need in the kitchen, very well stocked. The bedrooms were large with multiple beds. All bedrooms are upstairs and only what I would consider the master had an en-suite. The other two bedrooms shared a bathroom but there is a third full bath on first floor. I can speak for the master because that’s where we slept and although it’s a king bed the mattress was pretty firm so if you don’t like a firm bed, pick another room. The views were amazing. We enjoyed the fire pit and the piece and quiet on the decks. We had neighbors but it worked out well. The owner has gone out of the way to provide what you need for a great visit. Yes the house is older but it’s clean and homey and we would definitely stay again.

Pros and Cons
We rented for a small family get together and the location to the town was great and the stars at night beautiful. However, overall we were underwhelmed. A+ to the photographer... The house and it's contents need refreshing. Sound very clearly travels through the walls and floors. The two living rooms seemed like a good thing from photos but both were fairly small and the furniture worn. The lighting in the whole house is very dim. They have tried to solve that with multiple lamps - I think there were 4 in the kitchen alone. The stone stairs were expected from reviews/pics but are steep. The bedroom with 3 beds we found to all be uncomfortable. The only TV that worked was the living room. One TV upstairs wasn't even near an outlet to plug and the other had about 5 antennae channels that were scrambled. The kitchen cooking/sink area is tight if you plan to cook in as we did rather than order or go out. 2 average size adults, max. It is stocked with the cooking/baking necessities but most couple use replacing. The other house on the property is also much closer than we expected and had a lot of random rubbish in the yard. We had no issue or interaction with the occupants, it was just very close. There was a burn ban so we did not get to enjoy the firepit. Correspondence with the owner was easy through the app and we had no issues with instructions or procedures.

Hello- thx for your response- yes, I am buying new cookware! and log homes are darker for sure. I have several memory foam beds, and yes, that 3rd bedroom only has 1 memory foam bed in it...yes, the other home is 100 feet from main home across the driveway. Some groups like to rent both- and I have done it this way for 8 years--I will create some pics to show future groups- thx!

Property was perfect for outdoor family outing! Plenty of sleeping space, large tables for games and meals, and rustic appearance, perfect for "camping." There were grills, fireplaces and great memories created by the fire pit that had plenty of wood on the property. Highly recommend!

Great place!
We stayed for s 3-day weekend for a wedding. Carrie was great to deal with and very easy to communicate with. We had a fun time hanging out by the pool and cooking together. The view is FANTASTIC! The only things you should be aware of is the cabin is really “creaky”, so all in the house are aware if you walk around and also bring a fan if you stay in the heat of the summer - we had read a prior review, and we’re glad we brought them! The only “nits” we had was the pool deck needs repair (owner is aware), and the stair rail out of the pool seemed unsafe. Also, when we arrived the cleanup crew had missed the outdoor ashtrays and cigarette butts that the previous guests had so rudely put between the wood planks in the deck and the pool deck. (Joys of owning a rental home, I guess). Carrie was sweet about it when I warned her and apologetic! Otherwise, I would recommend to owner that is the house sleeps X number of people, the renter should be able to have up to that for their rental price. We felt a bit nickel and dimes. We were also told that if anyone stepped foot on the property outside our number, we’d be charged- even if they didn’t stay. That was a new and unusual policy we’d not run into before. Please, just needs to be clarified up front before commitment to renting. Thank you for the use of your home and we loved the extra touch of Petey, the peacock!❤️

Great Location
This review is an overall consensus from my family, there were 6 of us. The views are great and the location is great. It's nice and private with a beautiful peacock that lives on the property named Pety. We felt that the house overall needs some TLC. The staircase in the house is stone and we had 2 2 year olds with us, which posed a problem several times as the steps are a bit dangerous. You can hear everything from bottom floor to top floor so if you stay with noisy people you're not going to sleep well. The coffeemaker took forever to make coffee, 30 minutes for 8 cups, to be exact. This became a source of amusement for my family. So if you are a "I want my coffee now" person you may want to bring your own maker. We also used the dishes and pots and pans but they had to be cleaned because the inside of the cabinets were a bit dirty. As a family we had a great time in the area since there's a lot to do and this property isn't too far from things.

River Weekend with Friends and Family
We had a wonderful weekend staying at the property. The pool area was nice and we shared it with the group that was staying at the smaller 4 person place. The house is very private and enjoyable with the great view and private decks. I recommend bringing a couple of extra fans for sleeping if you are going in the middle of summer like we did because it is a log cabin. The A/C was working well but the extra fans we brought made it perfect. Short distance to the grocery and downtown Wimberly makes it a great option to visit the town. Uber's and Lyfys are easily accessible as well.

Really nice and private! Plenty of room. Staircase could be a problem for some as it's a small, spiral, rock staircase and a little hard to go up and down, but we did OK. Great balcony and views.

Perfect Spot
It's a great place for a large group with an incredible view. It seems like you're in the middle of nowhere, but there are many things very close. The stairs were a bit difficult, especially for our 80 plus grandpas. Also, the house could use a good airing out, pretty musty.

The perfect family escape!!!!
Carrie-We LOVED the house! It was the perfect escape from the city....we played cornhole, hours and hours of Monopoly and cards, the boys swam and talked to Petey, and we even visited with the newlyweds in the small cabin! We had to seek out a lighter/matches b/c there wasn't one in the cabin...and we had a bit of trouble keeping the water in the tub in the master (plug was too large for the drain)...but really?! That is all that we could complain about!! It was EXACTLY what we needed! Thank you so much!!!

Perfect weekend with my friends at this property! The house has absolutely everything you need: bedding, kitchen gear, soap, etc. We found everything prepared and spotless when we got there. I can't find anything negative to say about it! I booked this property to celebrate my 40th birthday with my friends. We slept 10 the first day and 12 the second and we had plenty of room for all of us. It's also very well located if you want to drive to the wineries in the area. We will be coming back for sure!

We really enjoyed staying here. I booked this house for an annual girls weekend and we had 7 total. Loved the rustic look of the home and enjoyed having coffee on the back porch every morning. Beautiful view! We had one kink with the AC unit not cooling down enough upstairs but we called the numbers provided and had very prompt return calls. Property manager told us how to correct and even offered to purchase another fan if needed. Pool cleaner did show up Saturday afternoon which wasn't an optimal time for us but was very friendly and didn't take too long. I would suggest having them try to make morning calls only, if possible, when guests are staying in the home so chemicals have time to set. Overall a great stay and I would definitely rent again if in the area! Carrie was very responsive to all my questions before/during the rental!

Our ladies was great was made complete with this house. We are in the middle of nowhere, but 5 minutes from town. It's a visually stunning home with the most amazing views. Very well kept, but lived in feel. I'm definitely hoping we can't find a better place next year so we can come back here. Carrie is an amazing person. She's quick to respond and her enclosures were very helpful.

Beautiful property with AMAZING view & GREAT porches!
Our family spent a WONDERFUL 3 days at Canyon View. A collective gasp was heard as we all stepped out back onto the porch for the first time! Gorgeous view of the landscape. We were thrilled to see Petey, the resident peacock! This property has a great firepit that is a fun way to spend evenings. Location is fabulous as is only a few miles from Wimberly & close to many parks, lakes, recreational sites for hiking, swimming, biking, floating, etc. house was well Stocked with all supplies amenities we would expect. We sure hope to come back one day! Carrie, the owner is most accommodating & Very easy to work with.

Nice home for large groups
My sisters and I stayed here for a girls weekend. Home works well for large groups as there are plenty of beds and three bathrooms. Nice size house. Unfortunately, all the bedrooms are upstairs and the stone steps can be difficult for some to navigate. Also, sound carries throughout the house. If you are a light sleeper, this might not work well for you.

Beautiful Property!
The pictures online really don't do this place justice! I looked high and low for the perfect place for our weekend girls get away and couldn't have asked for better! It was raining most of our trip, but that just added to the relaxation. Sitting in the front/screened in patio while the rain was coming down was so great! The views from the back deck were breath taking! Tons of seating, plenty of room, super comfy beds, and an awesome claw foot bathtub to top it off. The pool area was larger than I expected and so much fun! People in previous reviews complained about the lighting in the house, but I found it perfect for a cabin in the woods. It was soft and comforting. The temp was just fine for us. I have nothing bad to say about this place! Look no farther! Great customer service! (The owner Carrie is the sweetest!) Beautiful location! Salt water pool! Peacocks! Super comfy beds! Spotless house! Amazing view! What more could you ask for? I loved our stay and will hold our new memories close and can't wait to return!
