Overall, the Catalonia Berlin Mitte is a great hotel, but my most recent stay there was spoiled by the fact that they closed their restaurant on the Saturday night to all guests because they had catered for a large coach party of elderly people. The restaurant is advertised as being open from 12pm to 10pm so when I went down to grab a burger and beer at 9pm, I expected to be able to eat. However, the barman told me in a very abrupt manner that the kitchen was closed because of the large party. There was no advance warning of this from hotel staff and due to the time of night, almost all other eating establishments in the immediate vicinity were either fully booked or closing. There was no signage, just a curt and sullen reply that there was nothing they could do. As such, I was unable to get a meal until breakfast the next morning.

This is a great hotel but it’s really disappointing to book a superior double room at extra cost, only to find that it has 2 single beds side by side in it. When I asked for a double I was told that there were none available. Everything else was good but please don’t advertise a twin room as a superior double

Room smelt slightly of smoke when we arrived but not bad enough to ask to be moved. Kettle didn’t work but was replaced when we spoke to reception. Water leaked from the shower so had to put towels on the floor. Cleaned daily, location great for getting around Berlin either on foot or using public transport. Slightly disappointing that the being a silver member we would receive a bottle of sparking wine, it was a small individual bottle & not a 750ml which I would have expected.

Pretty good stay.
We enjoyed the hotel very much. The staff was friendly and helpful. The lobby and bar area was nicely decorated and comfortable. The bed was a tad soft for our taste. I enjoyed the hotel very much but not 100% sure I’d stay again due to the location. Not much in close walking distance at night. In fairness, there is a subway across the street, the hotel will call a cab for you, or download the Bolt app.

Excellent overall. Very nice room. View was not very good, even bad (sorry to say), but the room was overall excellent. The decor, and very stylish and comfortable furnishings, including the beds, were outstanding. Bathroom was beautiful, and well-appointed. Service was exceptional, especially at the bar and breakfast buffet...absolutely worldclass excellent. Technology with the TV in the room was very poor. Needs a serious upgrade. No reason to provide only local programming in German in 2023. Hotels can easily provide the ability to Cast personal devices to TV/monitors, thus allowing Guests to access their own content any time a d in any language they desire. Love, love, love the lobby and entrance atmosphere, and the Bear outfront.

We were impressed with the size and the quality of the room. The location in Berlin was very good. The rooms were impressively quiet, even when we later discovered the hotel was busy. Cleaning was of a high standard. The fridge was a bit small, but this is a minor complaint. The bed, was big, and comfortable. The pillows provided were poor, but could be replaced, on request. Would stay again with no thought atall. We didn't try the breakfast, so just can't comment on that.
