Very quiet and relaxing with lots of wildlife and bird life. The view down the valley and the morning sunrise were awesome. However when we booked with Wot-if we selected the package to include the breakfast basket for two. The Proprietors disputed this however when I forwarded a copy of the booking confirmation from Wot-if they agreed to honor the booking. We did not receive the breakfast basket as promised. I didn't take this up with the Proprietors as we just wanted to enjoy without any hassles or arguments.

A beautiful cottage on a magnificent spot with privacy, quietness, and amazing vistas across the landscape. It was truly blissful. Very generous breakfast provisions were supplied with freshly baked, home-made, delicious bread. There were fresh cookies and a variety of teas and coffees. The cottage was spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished with many nice little touches that were appreciated. We saw many kangaroos and hares around the property which was lovely. We didn't want to leave and will come back and stay longer next time. It was absolutely wonderful and is located close to the town of Kingaroy where everything is available.

Charming stay
Was out towards Kingaroy for a work trip and I will never stay in town motels again. This place is charming, comfortable and safe. As a solo traveler I felt right at home. Log fire, cool mornings and wildlife to make you enjoy your work trip enjoyable. Will stay again.

A Truly Fabulous Experience at Deshons Retreat
The accommodation has everything you could possibly need, and it is all to a very high standard. Clean, tidy, nicely decorated and comfortable with great views. We ordered the breakfast for both mornings, and it was a delicious hamper of fresh locally produced eggs, bacon, sausages, home-made baked beans, butter and Alex’s own beautifully baked bread. Cooking this breakfast was no problem at all with the large electric frypan. The electric bbq was also terrific for cooking the best sirloin steaks ever from the gourmet butcher in town. The accommodation itself is private and has a fire box, which was not cold enough to use, and air conditioning. The big louvred windows and insect screening allow for terrific cross-ventilation and the scent of the Aussie bush to come flowing in. The bed was comfortable, and the large windows made for great views while waking up with a freshly made plunger coffee (plunger and coffee supplied). Sitting outside at night with a glass of wine was the best way to view the magnificent night sky filled with thousands of stars. We cannot recommend Deshons Retreat highly enough, and the excellent communication with, and greeting from, Alex the owner. Thank you Alex! The experience was unforgettable and will be treasured for many years. We want to return!

Not just a “retreat”
With a work trip in the area and everything booked out I was hesitant to stay at a “retreat” but couldn’t have been more wrong. Arrived late and found the place with the lights on and key left out. It is an amazing self contained cabin that is welcoming and with plenty of space. The view of the stars at night is amazing and watching the sun rise across the paddock. A great place to stay for work or pleasure and will be back when in the area

It was a wonderful little place, full of lovely details that draw the eye. We loved the fire which kept the place really comfortable. The tea selection was interesting and I actually a cup of tea for the first time since 2009! We really couldn't find fault at all.

Wonderful peaceful and quiet location with fabulous easterly views from the Booie range. Next door is Cranes Winery and Cassid on Booie Restaurant is just back up the hill. Other great vineyards are just 1/2 hour away by delightful country roads. Beautiful clean and warm modern cottage with no phone or TV reception. ... just excellent !
