Please express your understanding/agreement of each of the following:1) the kitchenette/ cooking situation (2) the bathroom, which is ADA accessible and doesn’t have a door but two thick shower curtains and a strong fan for privacy. Most people who read the details are appreciative that we are very strict about the (3)smoking and (4) pet policy due to allergies. We wash each piece of bedding and sanitize/rotate out all pillows/ covers for each guest booking.

It often clears up enough for a sunset here, even on cloudy days. We are in the 'Rain Shadow of the Olympics' and have approximately 72+ days more with sunshine than the greater Seattle area. Its about 5-10 degrees warmer in the winter and 5-10 degrees cooler in summer than in Seattle greater area. Take a break from the heat here for a week or month and take advantage of weekly’s/monthly discounts.
Eat your breakfast on the deck in warm months and enjoy the shade of the tree over the deck on warmer days.
The sitting area includes a down loveseat and a cozy little chair on wheels in front of the fireplace that you can turn around to warm your toes or to face conversation or play a game. The darling woodstove heats the entire cottage quite sufficiently, but there is also electric heat in the bedroom area and in the bathroom. Wood and lighting materials are provided.
Take a cool refreshing dip and/or experienced kayakers may borrow ours with permission.
Sunsets are often stellar, just take that less than five minute walk to the beach, and stay for at least half an hour after sundown for the best colors. If you don’t want to sit on the logs, just ask and we will provide some folding chairs For you to use at the beach.
Hike short or longer trails in the nearby state parks.
NO PETS!! I realize that dogs are very popular around here and there are places where you can take them. Sorry, not sorry, not here- if you bring fido you will be assessed additional cleaning/ time loss fees. Our cat, Sir Jack (Maine Coon fluff!) will wander, but not go in the cottage. (He is not allowed, but also not inclined.) He is afraid of his own shadow most of the time so if you see him, it will be fleeting. Our Leo, the beach puppycat - (a black-brown tabby) is very friendly and thinks he wants to go into the cottage. He will come and say hello and knows he’s not supposed to go in, so please don’t let him. He’s happy to rub your legs, be pet and even held, but you can tell him no if that bothers you and he will leave you alone. He’ll just go find someone else. He makes his rounds in the neighborhood every day to visit everyone and follows us to the beach each day when invited. We sometimes need to carry him home because he has some health problems but he’s living his best life.
If you EVER SMOKE (or vape) ANYTHING, do not book this rental!! No need to read on except to learn that you will be charged a minimum of $600 for residual smoke smell of any kind. We lose several days and up to a week over residual smoke!
We are just an hour from Seattle during light traffic times, but longer at rush hour and/or if you come on a holiday weekend. It's so worth the trip, even in traffic. You will feel your blood pressure fall when you drive onto this sweet island. We are a nice half wayish stop between Sea-Tac Aiport) (55 miles) or Paine field (24 miles) and the San Juan Islands, and Vancouver Int'l (74 miles)
