Week in paradise
The location of the resort was perfect for us. Its central location allowed for easy exploration of the island. It’s close to the airport and I worried about noise, but it was not a problem. The resort is very nice and well kept, but did show some of its age. I believe Outrigger will completely refresh its look very quickly. We ate two meals in the bar and one from the pool bar. They were “island expensive “ but not anymore than any of the other restaurants we dined at. The food was good and our waitress was excellent both times in the bar. Wish I could remember her name. The actual rooms seem to fall into two categories: privately owned or resort owned. Our room is privately owned. While the room was dated, it was generally clean and comfortable with two minor exceptions and one that truly needs attention. The minor exceptions were some lipstick on one of the plastic drinking cups and the other was a small mess left in the refrigerator. The issue that truly needs addressing is the rusted door frame that greats you. After a couple of uses we began noticing a brown smear appearing on some of our clothing when ever we happened to brush up against the door frame. Be very careful using the door. Lastly the grounds were beautiful and the pools were of equal beauty. Unfortunately our weather wasn’t overly warm and the pools do not appear to be heated. Other people could use them but a little below my comfort level. Overall I would stay here again!

Great location !
The room is located in the Outrigger Resort which has a beautiful multi-pool complex with ample seating. You can walk out of your room and up to the beach every morning to watch the sunrise and do morning yoga. The resort has dining, a Starbucks cafe and a nice bar/lounge. The room is older - as we expected from past reviews. My emails to the owner about getting new towels for the property were answered promptly. This area of Kauai is centrally located to go everywhere on the island!

Kauai Beach Resort stay
Very much enjoyed KBR. Hot tubs, pools, nice beach, food/bar is good. The room was nice and what we wanted: modest, had a fridge, decent bed, and balcony. The room is owned privately and didn’t have the same upkeep as the other rooms but don’t let that get in the way. For us, it was def worth it and we enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic
Peter has a wonderfully equipped suite located on the quiet side of the resort away from the entertainment. Fully stocked with a refrigerator/freezer and Keurig coffee maker. Lots of linens and soaps. Jennifer does an amazing job keeping the room looking great. The resort pools, reclining sunchairs, hot tubs, restaurant, lounge, water slide and other amenities were perfect. Being on the beach we watched the sunrise each moring coffee in hand.

First time in Kauai
we had a great time staying at the Outrigger Kauai Beach and Resort & Spa. Our room was very nice and cozy. only drawback was no microwave in the room. Had to go to the 5th floor on the other side of the resort to use a microwave and we were on the 2nd floor. the pool area was great and beautiful!! location was perfect with everything within a 10 to 15 minute drive. would stay there again and with the same VRBO rental.

Great Location, room could stand to be updated
We enjoyed our stay at the resort, but would have liked the room to be a bit more updated. It smelled pretty musty, like it needed a dehumidifier and the room always felt damp. But it was priced well, and we liked the location, so if you can overlook a few minor inconveniences, you will enjoy your stay.

Nice Place
We were very happy to find this VRBO. It's a room in the Kauai Beach Resort. So we had use of all the amenities at the resort (minus a couple of activities, but that wasn't a big deal to us), yet we paid a lot less than the resort rooms. This particular room could use some updating. I noticed when I walked past other rooms when the doors were open for house keeping that they had newer carpet, newer furniture, etc. But again, we saved a lot of money and this room served it's purpose. The bed was comfortable, we had all the towels and supplies we needed. Peter was a responsive and generous host. I definitely recommend staying here because it doesn't make sense to pay so much more for almost the same thing. We loved our stay in Kauai. Thank you, Peter!

The room is sufficient for a couple. We had our daughter with us, so it was cramped at times. The room was dated and humidity in hotel sometimes made the room damp. But the room was located in a great resort in an awesome location.

Wonderful budget room in a nicer property
This is a slightly older unit so it rents for MUCH LESS than the currently renovating hotel rooms in this same resort. You can pay more and get all the new stuff, or save money and stay in this good room in an amazing location and get out to enjoy the 5 pools, 2 jacuzzis, private beach, and all the rest that Kauai has to offer. Didn't hear much from the host after booking and check-in, which was fine. This was a great first trip for my son and daughter in law to Kauai.

Lovely Resort
Kauai Shores Resort, where this VRBO is located, has beautifully cared for grounds, pools, hot tubs, outdoor bar, restaurant, lagoons, and friendly staff. The resort's situated right next to the beach. We could hear the pounding surf all night and took daily walks along the beach, which we mostly had all to ourselves. Our deck overlooked a lagoon with a peek-a-boo view of the ocean through the trees. The resort is centrally located, not far from Lihue Airport, and an easy drive to the island's many attractions. The VRBO owner, Peter, was extremely responsive to my questions and needs. Our studio room had all the basics except a microwave, and came at a very good price point. We would definitely stay again.

A nice room at Kauai Beach Resort
This room was pretty basic but it was clean and comfortable. Don't expect a lot of extras, aside from the coffee pot and the mini fridge there's not much here.

Perfect spot
This location was the best. Considering the island is one strip and an easy drive, there is no wrong place to stay. This room is in a resort. The room had a fridge, but on a suggestion note, it would be perfect with a microwave. The ocean was right there and nice to walk on, but not swim in. But there are plenty of beaches on maps just for that. We had a nice stay here.

Resort was well kept, beautiful and maintained. People were super friendly. Room was a bit musty and damp. Seemed like it may have had water intrusion or HVAC issues at some point. Overall, room was fine; especially for the price. Same room rented for 3X the VRBO rate. Services from the resort such as room cleaning, coffee etc. are not included in the rate as the unit is privately owned. Suggestion for the owner would be to supply room with ceramic coffee cups as the resort doesn’t provide them.

The room was clean, comfortable & cozy. Easy access to resort amenities and services. The Resort itself was quite nice. Easy to get to and easy check in & out. Staff in Resort where kind, responsive & helpful. The quality of the food in on site restaurants was pretty good. Breakfast buffet was pretty great. The Grounds, Pool & access to beach were all great. I used the resort gym and although not huge, it had all that I needed to get a good workout in. I didn't spend a lot of time there in the resort during my visit but was pleased with what I did experience.

Owner was great to deal with. Quick reply from him to book, answer questions etc. Overall property and room does not live up to a 4 star property. Good pool area. Beach is very rocky. Parking is a considerable distance from room. Elevator did not work and was closed off but no one was working on getting it fixed?... Had to use a service elevator and a very odd stairway to get to lobby. A private banquet was held on site taking up all the parking which guests have to pay for to park in. If staying at this property again the villas would be a much better option or in a renovated updated suite on the resort side.

Here’s the deal. As I understand it ALL the rooms are privately owned and 90% of them are in the “Hotel pool” which means the resort takes care of any concerns the guest may have. The other 10% of the rooms (this one included) have private housekeeping which means the resort is NOT responsible. You must contact an off site person anytime you need something. Having private housekeeping means you don’t have immediate access to necessities you may need (blankets, towels, toiletries, repairs, cleaning etc). The resort supplies you with NOTHING room related. You are also limited to which activities you are able to partake in. This is the reason for the low score. The resort was good. Obviously not “top shelf” but for the price it was great and the management helped where they could. My suggestion: Ditch private housekeeping and let the resort take care of your guests

This was a great resort. Very well kept and nice location.
We really enjoyed this resort. It was well kept and the staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. The only problem we had was we had booked a room with a microwave and we did not have a microwave in the room. We gave up a room with two queen bed in exchange for this so were disappointed with this. The lounge for the third person in our room was not really adequate for an adult to sleep on.

The resort is quite lovely, the food is good but not great. The room was average at best.
Not very impressed with our room. The floor we were on was undergoing remodeling, somewhat noisy but we spend very little time in the room. The room was clean but appeared to have been cleaned months before our visit. The room, bedding and towels stunk of mold/mildew. Their attempt to remove the smell with deodorizers/moisture wicks was ineffectual and gave one a headache.The doors and drawers were difficult to open and close as a result of the moisture.The sheers for slider were missing. This room paled in comparison with our friends room that was also a private rental. Mr. Wang responded quickly to our inquiries.

Awesome Resort - Great Room!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The suite was comfortable and the view of the lagoon was beautiful. The ocean is only a few steps from the hotel so the sound of the waves was very relaxing. The beach itself is absolutely magnificent as is the pool area. The resort is beautiful but is undergoing some renovations so be prepared for a bit of noise during the daytime hours. This resort is a 20-30 minute drive from either end of the island and yet feels very private. The owner of the suite was very accommodating, easy to reach if we had any questions and made sure we had a great stay! The listing description was very accurate - we felt the owner was very trustworthy and went above and beyond in making our stay comfortable.
